Glee Season 5 Spoilers Adam Lambert Spoilers! Songs 5x04

UPDATED!!!!!!

I’m hearing from a very good source that Adam Lambert will be playing a drag queen on GLEE.

American Idol alum, Adam Lambert will make his first Glee appearance in Episode 4, according to Pop Wrapped. His role has not been confirmed yet, but we know that he’ll be Kurt’s (Chris Colfer) nemesis and will perform with Dani (Demi Lovato).

He’ll perform TWO songs Lady Gaga songs in 5×04 “Applause” and “Judas”. Katy Perry’s “Roar” is also set for the episode.

Adam has not appeared on set yet. Right now, production is on a brief hiatus after filming the first 3 episodes. The 3rd, the Cory Monteith Tribute, was especially heavy. At the moment, producers are mapping out a season in the wake of the character, Finn Hudson’s death and to give the cast and crew a much needed break.

But when production picks up again, I’m sure we’ll know about it!

Episode 4 will air in November, after the baseball break.

Adam responded via twitter

He didn’t exactly say the song spoilers were false. This site has a legit source and has spoiled songs correctly in the past. They aren’t trolling. As somebody mentioned in comments, maybe it’s only ONE song, a Lady Gaga mashup, perhaps. Glee is known for their mashups.

We’ll see.

    Adam Lambert ?@adamlambert 4m

Rumors are funny, pesky lil things.

    Adam Lambert ?@adamlambert 1m

What I’m sayin is- the rumor mill warps the facts. Be patient lil Glamhoppers: wait and see.

  • jan

Hmm – the facts are warped? Maybe it’s not 2 complete songs – but a mash-up of the 2 – Glee is known for doing mash-ups.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

JSYK, Pop wrapped has spoiled songs correctly in the past. They have a legit source. I tend to believe the songs are correct.

There was some speculation in there–which I purposely left out of the post.

Of course, Adam is going to run interference for the show.

  • lovetheusa1776

    Notta clue, jan

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

That’s actually a pretty good guess.

  • Ronnie D

This is going to be amazing! I’ve been cranking Judas and Applause lately, too lol. Gaga’s album will be out in November as well. Squeeeeee! :)

  • lovetheusa1776

If true, gonna be great watching (and hearing) him blast his way through those two tracks.

  • Guest

Didn’t Adam tweet a few weeks ago that the duet with Demi Lovato was also a rumor? I could swear I read that here.

  • No Thanks

Really? I’m sure this cross promotion was planned. If so, Gaga will probably pimp the episode to her Little Monsters on Twitter.

  • Mel432

” It is speculated that Adam Lambert’s character will be a student at NYADA.” (not confirmed)

I’m surprised he might be playing a student and not a teacher.I guess the facial hair will go because he looks much younger clean shaven.

  • Mel432

BTW, why Glamhoppers? Does that mean anything?

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

I think that’s the part Adam might be referring to as “warped”. I left that bit out of my post on purpose because it reads as speculation morphed into rumor.

  • No Thanks

If he’s at NYADA he could be a teacher giving Kurt hell.

  • No Thanks

Cory was 31 playing 19. Mark Salling is pretty damn old. Naya and Lea are in their mid-twenties. There is a long history of grown ups playing teens.

IF Adam is a student, he’s probably playing a senior 21/22.

  • Ronnie D

Adam and Gaga’s paths always seem to cross. She worked with him on the song Fever from FYE as well.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

Yep. Like Kate Hudson’s character and Rachel.

  • Kariann Hart

Maybe that’s their Twitter name instead of Glamberts.

  • girlygirl

IDK…maybe because they are “hopping” to conclusions? lol

  • girlygirl

he’s never referred to his fans as Glamhoppers before that I’ve seen. It’s always been glamberts or glamily

  • Kariann Hart

IF Adam is a student he could be in his late 20′s. lol. I am surprised if that indeed is his role.

  • seashellz51

‘Glamhoppers’ is a take on ‘Grasshoppers’ from the Kung Fu Tv series. As in ‘patience grasshoppers’ with David Carradine.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Looking forward to Adam’s appearances/performances in Glee. I’m glad that he’s part of the NYC storyline, because that’s the only part of Glee that I have any interest in now. lol

  • Heart

Adam singing Gaga on Glee will be amazing! I can’t wait!

I hope he is clean shaven though. That pirate look is not flattering, IMO.

  • No Thanks

I think the beard makes him look like a cartoon villain.

  • Goodvibes27

Looking forward to seeing Adam on Glee!

  • lovetheusa1776

Sometimes, yes and sometimes, just gorgeous

    http://instagram.com/p/dcIoiFLYvZ/#

  • taptap

lolol no, it’s definitely a reference to David Carradine’s kung-fu master who always said ‘patience, grasshopper’ (and ‘walk on rice-paper, grasshopper’) in DC’s flashbacks.

  • Vetle Hovland

Awesome! Can’t wait to watch Adam and Demi’s storyline. Also, I hope Glee do “The Fox” by Ylvis, since they tend to do the viral songs. Time to get some Norway up in this joint.

  • taylor

Adam could be a graduate student and be a teaching assistant in one of Kurt’s classes. GAs can easily be in their mid twenties.

  • taptap

Or older if they’re working on their PhD.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

He’ll be getting rid of the beard. And more. lol.

  • iluvai

Adam is a talent that should be known to more people. When I hear Macklemore’s song, “Same Love”, I think of Adam. xoxo

  • Mel432

Mashup or whatever, Adam will probably be dancing with these songs.

  • iluvai

I agree. He’s a villain and a babe. I bet he hates the cutie babe part. Sorry Adam, you are just too cute.

  • iluvai

    Gorgeous.

  • Kariann Hart

    Such an attractive man!

  • No Thanks

Drag queen. I guess Murphy loved the lyric video:

    http://youtu.be/9ld9cZ7d_2A

  • lovetheusa1776

    Clothes, I hope – lol

  • Chrissy

Drag queen?!!! God, I hope not :(

  • Pretty Horsey

Drag Queen? For real? They should have Raja/Sutan make him over.

  • No Thanks

He probably will. I bet Sutan gets a cameo.

  • twinkies-are-back

Why not, its just a friggin tv show….

  • No Thanks

He’s done it before. There are several pics of Adam in drag (lookin’ good too!)

  • lovetheusa1776

Yes – with that androgynous face, he looked spectacular. Incredibly sexy as well. Glee may get interesting enough this year for me to watch it.

  • Cristiana Carosio

Just asking: is the “very good source” about Adam in drag the same as the songs’ spoilers?

  • suenigma

My problem with this storyline is that it has already been done on Glee quite extensively with Unique’s character. Seems a bit tired. Love the idea of the Gaga mashup, adore the idea that he may be villianous,am on board with some fabulous costumes, but a full on drag queen? Nope.

ETA: I think it would be much more interesting to let Adam’s natural masculinity as a gay man contrast/conflict with Chris Colfer’s more stereotypical effeminite gay man.

  • Cristiana Carosio

It’s a term of affection Adam used to point out how voracious about him related news we Glamberts are… May soon be our new fandom name, anyway XXD

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

NOPE. I’m breaking this news. It’s my own personal source.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

Unique is transgendered. Adam is playing a drag queen. Not the same thing.

  • No Thanks

I’m calling it now. Adam is a teacher/student at NYADA who torments Kurt. Then Kurt discovers that Adam’s character moonlights as a drag queen in underground clubs on the weekends.

  • suenigma

I know that, but Unique also regularly performed in drag. The two things are not mutually exclusive, and a transgendered person can also be a Drag Queen. But yes, if Adam’s character is not transgendered, there would be that distinction. I still don’t like the idea though, perhaps irationally. :)

  • lovetheusa1776

    Adam Lambert@adamlambert 7m

    shehashadit’s photo http://instagram.com/p/eJkSqDLfPv/

(Probably how he feels about all the rumors – lol.)

  • barbls23

MJ would really like to know your great source! Kind of think this is the warped rumor Adam was referring to! Aimed straight at you!

  • suenigma

Except that Adam’s “warped” tweets were tweeted BEFORE MJ updated her post with the Drag Queen scoop. I think.

  • springboard2

Interesting! Watching the clip of Adam’s part will be a first for me since I have never watched any of this show.

  • lovetheusa1776

Wouldn’t know if “tired” as never watched. But won’t have to tune in for months anyhow as his role doesn’t begin till when? November? next year?

  • Bugme Nomor

Adam is going to play a high-school-age drag queen? Or just a drag queen that hangs around high school students? Or is he going to be performing in a club that the underage high school students sneak into?

Glee is the Miley Cyrus of television shows.

  • jujubee22

no..he tweeted demi that he was excited she was on show…then followed up with a cover his a-s “if the rumors are true” bc there hadn’t been confirmation yet

  • jpfan2

Drag queen? I never saw that coming. The few times I’ve watched Glee, they’ve managed to avoid cliches so hopefully they’ll do the same here.

  • jpfan2

Glee has a plot line in NY now that has nothing to do with h.s.

  • Jordana33

Until now, Glee has done a decent job of avoiding certain gay cliches, especially with the Kurt/Blaine relationship. However, when it comes to their portrayal of different ethnicities, I think the show is a walking cliche. I think that their use of exaggerated stereotypes was their way of supposedly “addressing” the problem with stereotyping people, but since they do such a poor job of revealing the person behind the stereotype (e.g. with Mercedes), then all they end up doing is perpetuating the stereotypes even more. I’m curious to see how they intend to handle this drag queen storyline, but in general, I find that I enjoy Glee the most when I don’t try to “analyze” things too much!

  • supersonic

They don’t even have this episode written. How do they know what songs he’s going to be singing and that he’s going to play a drag queen?

  • jan

Not a bad scenario – I could see it.

  • supersonic

And who is your source? Ryan Murphy himself? If so, I have a message or five for him.

  • jlynn1205

I’ll admit, I’m disappointed. This seems very stereotypical. A drag queen singing Gaga songs is the definition of cliche. I’ll wait and see, maybe it will be cool but my excitement over his role had dimmed a little.

  • Q_3

Seems very likely to me that the Adam number is a mash-up of Applause and Judas. That would work well together.

If Adam is playing a drag queen, I doubt it will be a stereotype of a drag queen. It could be a reversal of the Lady Gaga Joe Calderone persona. She does not do drag either, but did it for the 2011 VMAs performance.

All I am sure of is that Adam and his management are sharp and will make sure this appearance reflects well on Adam. Adam has always been willing to take risks and they usually pay off for him. And he has been willing to pass on things that he does not want to do.

  • b_james

    A drag queen?? Ugh…

  • Not fit to print

Thank goodness. The beard adds 10 years.
As long as the “more” isn’t for realz, lol.

  • Landon Cox

If you want a singing drag queen why not get Willam?

  • Emmuzka

Drag queen? Sounds interesting. He definitely has the balls… um, courage to do it, as well as body and grace to make it believable.

The only possible downside could be that people would confuse his character with his real life persona and presume that Adam would be drag queen or even transsexual in real life. Not that there would be anything wrong with that, but still. Confusing for the casual popular culture consumer.

  • Emmuzka

They probably wanted Adam foremost and only then thought about what character he would be.
Personally I don’t think that Willam would have enough star power. And he can’t really sing that well.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

I think it would be much more interesting to let Adam’s natural masculinity as a gay man contrast/conflict with Chris Colfer’s more stereotypical effeminite gay man.

I’m not even sure what this means.
It would be much more interesting if their conflict had nothing to do with their sexuality or gender presentation.

  • suenigma

Yes, because glee never makes it about sexuality or gender presentation.

But just to clarify, I’m not saying that their conflict should revolve around their respective gayness, that is incidental. I’m saying I would like to see them totally rub each other the wrong way because Adam is portrayed as some macho and aggressive guy, to Chris’s not so tough, and yes, effeminate, guy. I don’t think it would be a bad thing to show that gay men don’t all get along and aren’t some big, happy, rainbow family. Maybe they get offended by the fact that their friends assumed that they would get along just because they are both gay when they are so obviously oil and water. IDK, Just brainstorming. I think it could be more interesting than a drag queen storyline. To each their own.

  • suenigma

Exactly, they are great at fleshing out the central characters, but sometimes they fall into cliches with the peripheral characters.

  • No Thanks

They can give a twist and make him a heterosexual drag queen.

  • Montavilla

Confusing the casual popular culture consumer is Adam’s role in life.

  • Montavilla

I cannot wait for this. It’s better than I dared hope.

  • Montavilla

    Exactly.

  • Montavilla

That would be cool. Shangela’s already done a cameo on the show.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

Kurt is effeminate but he’s also tough. If I lived in Glee land, I would not cross him. lol.

There are a ton of reasons why gay men don’t get along that have nothing to do with gender presentation.

  • seashellz51

Me too! Adam has turned down opportunities in the past that he wasnt comfortable with so I am going to #trustabitch that he likes what his role will be and feels comfortable with it. And I cant wait to hear him sing 2 LGG songs possibly. Plus drag queen may only be a part of what he will be playing. Excited now for Glee to start.

  • HermeticallySealed

LoL, considering that gay men are routinely portrayed as backbiting, snippy, jealous drama queens, somehow I don’t think showing gay men don’t all get along is somehow needed.

  • bestmusic

This is going to do nothing for his music career if true.

  • ANNIEBA

Oh the possibilities are endless! I think this is going to be fun. November seems a looooong way off, lol.

  • Emmuzka

Song rights, especially for hit songs, have to be cleared well before the episodes are fully written. If they’d do it the other way, the songs would have to be interchangeable and the result probably wouldn’t be as good, the songs not being relevant for the story line.

  • ANNIEBA

    Haha, so true.

  • ANNIEBA

Yes, pretty sure Adam isn’t getting pushed into anything he isn’t happy about. This could mean all kinds of scenarios and I think we are going to see Adam’s comedic talents shine. I’m excited too!

  • Aavari

We’re probably all wrong in how this will actually play out. I am waiting in happy anticipation for whatever ryan murphy throws at us, and I know Adam will be fantastic. Personally, I think if the drag rumour is true, it’s unlikely that Adam’s entire role/persona on the show will be that of a drag queen. I expect we’ll get some songs in drag and some not.
But one thing makes me very, very happy – if Adam is indeed in drag at any point that means he HAS to shave of that damned beard.

  • Aavari

    That’s a great scenario!!

  • lovetheusa1776

Yes – as Lambert has so memorably said, trustabitch.

  • Dianne

Glamhopper = Grasshopper = the old Kung Fu show with David Carradine, at least that is how I interpreted Adam’s tweet. Dating myself but he may have warched the reruns when he was a kid. This could be a cryptic reference to himself as wise teacher on Glee or my guru-radar could be way off. Time will telll :)

  • lovetheusa1776

Well, we don’t know if it’s true and we don’t know if it would do nothing for his career. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

  • Cookiebr7

HAHAHA…best comment I’ve seen about this yet!

  • lovetheusa1776

Rumor has it he’s following this instagram account -

    http://instagram.com/la_peque#

  • lovetheusa1776

    cackle

  • supersonic

Or any of the other fierce queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

  • supersonic

The songs are never relevant for the storyline. At least that’s how it is lately.

  • supersonic

Avoid cliches? Are we watching the same show? Glee is all about cliches. Glee is nothing but a cliche.

  • lovetheusa1776

    Love his sense of humor.

  • lovetheusa1776

No doubt following twitter and laffin’ his ass off.

  • JLE12

Yeah, I just don’t get it. Adam is better than this. He has said he doesn’t like to dress in drag, so I say, pay your dues in acting then take on roles like this. I just think it will come off as a caricature of himself and not in a good way. I HOPE I am wrong and he kills it and it helps him, but I am not liking it.

  • Larc

If Adam has any interest in branching into acting on a bigger scale, this could be his best chance to get noticed by people who could help that process along. I don’t think he would want to get typed as a drag queen on his first shot at playing a character other than himself on TV. It’s too stereotypical and risks promulgating the misconception that gay actors can only play gay characters.

  • taptap

Wow, a lot of sturm und drang over the oft-speculated but as-yet-unknown fictional role Adam will play while acting on a dramedy. Drag queen, teacher, theatre geek, all three, or none of the above who cares? Whatever the role, we can all bet on one thing – Adam will sing. Outside of that, srsly, it’s Glee, and it’s called ~acting for a reason. It’s really not that deep.

  • ANNIEBA

A hahahaha! OMG that instagram account he is following! Way to dash our beardless hopes Adam! Now he is just messing with us, lol.

  • taptap

I really don’t get what there is to be ‘better than’ when considering an acting role. I mean it’s not like Pacino was a trufax mobster in his rl life and sighed and moaned while considering if he should actually play a Mafio Don, rat-fink squealor, or gang-lord. It’s acting. Everyone knows Adam’s not a drag queen (because then we’d all know, considering his lack of filters). Not that it would matter if he were, since acting a role has no correlation to his rl persona. In case you hadn’t noticed, 75% of the characters on Glee are written with a queer bent, so why should Adam’s role be any different? This is a huge part of the appeal to the particular Glee viewing demographic, btw – a demographic that is perfect for Adam and pretty much every other pop star.

    Welcome to Glee.

  • lovetheusa1776

    Is he ever.

  • Axxxel

I think there were already dragqueens during the Glee version of “Let’s have a Kiki” with Sarah Jessica Parker….. so if Adam indeed portrays a drag queen, he will be more in the fashion mode of Glee.. maybe the replacement of the role of Sarah …

  • Axxxel

just tweet Ryan Murphy by yourself

  • Axxxel

Yeah, indonesian blood on Glee !!

  • taptap

There are drag queens and then there are drag queens. It’s not like a Glee role is going to take on the legendary status of Rocky Horror and Doctor Frankenfurter. (I wish!)

  • taptap

That would be a very meaty role. From your mouth to god’s ear.

  • taptap

Okay, after reading this thread in its entirety, I am thrilled about the rumor, whether true or not. Once again it’s got everyone talking about Adam. That guy is brilliant or else just born under a lucky star.

  • Axxxel

Wow,am late to the party… My gleekish glamhopper’s heart is going through an adrenaline shower after reading all your comments… Not keen on the drag queen role… but if this means that Adam’s character and Kurt will have fight’s over fashion designs, then I am in…

  • taptap

I think ‘glamhopper’ is going to be adopted by the glamberts pdq. ngl it is adorable, and Adam is our kung-fu master after all.

  • Axxxel

That would be great… our kungfu master in making the best of our situations despite all the criticisms and limitations…and always creativily looking for new opportunities and thinking outside the box.

  • taptap

Well to be fair, only among super pro and con fans is there any debate as to whether being on Glee or not is a big deal, regardless of role, cause the answer everywhere else is a resounding YES!

  • lovetheusa1776

    Happy to hear that.

  • taptap

Musical theatre and comedies have a long history of not worrying too much about matching an actor’s age to the characters, as long as they can pull it off. Remember that 18-yo Rizzo in Grease was played by then 34-yo Stockard Channing.

  • taptap

Context is everything for that particular tweet: Patience Glamhopper = Patience Grasshopper.

  • Disraeli99

Adam playing a drag queen. How original.

  • Jaejae1

He better not being playing a drag queen! They aleady have a guy dressing like a girl on Glee…

  • lovetheusa1776

Some people are just fun to talk about, and Lambert is definitely one of them – never know what the guy is going to do next. And whatever his role in Glee, it will put that face and voice out there – terrific.

  • supersonic

Unique is not a drag queen, though.

  • lovetheusa1776
  • ANNIEBA

    Damn, he’s good looking!

  • Q_3

Demi is the one who said she was doing a duet with Adam in an interview.

  • writergal

They did Rocky Horror in 2010, and somewhat notoriously wimped out by having a girl play Frank N Furter. They’ve gotten somewhat bolder since then.

  • Mt2day

Why can’t Glee pick young people to actually play young people. This show is supposed to be about a high school Glee club, not an old guy in drag. It’s not only jumped the shark, it’s circling the drain. RIP Glee.

  • taptap

Howdy – haven’t seen you since QOL. I check in there periodically, but it’s dead dead deadski. Shame.

  • writergal

Are you talking about QueenOnLine? I was there just today, and the forums aren’t dead at all. Pretty lively actually. Which forums are you visiting?

  • lovetheusa1776

How young do you mean? Cory was 31. Was he too old for his character?

  • taptap

I read pretty much all of them, and there’s only 2-3 people conversing – on a good day. It’s a shame for Queen – they deserve better.

  • writergal

I think we must be talking about different websites. The one I visit has a lot more than 2-3 people conversing. According to the stats there were more than 400 on Sept. 3. Not Justin Bieber numbers I suppose, but not bad for a band with only 2 members left, that’s been around for decades. No need to feel sorry for them! :-)

  • taptap

And yet I do. Most of the ‘fans’ there spend all their time berating Dr. Bri and Roger because they didn’t curl up and die on the day that Freddie did. smdh. Luckily Queen has millions of fans across the globe and doesn’t have to depend on those guys.

  • seashellz51

The 409 people were from 2012. And on average there are only 20-40 people there each day. Some of us are Queen fans too. :)

  • taptap

I’m a HUGE Queen fan, have been since my teens. If the only thing you knew about Queen came from that site, you’d have a poor opinion of them for sure. They’re legends, though, and not even those whiners can take them down.

  • iluvai

Adam has such a baby face, even at the advanced age of 30. :) He’ll be great.

  • writergal

Yeah, I’ve seen that too – about 20-40 people at a time, which I’d say is average for a band of their age. Like I said, not huge numbers, but more than “2-3″. :-)

  • writergal

Griping is common on message boards, though. And in any case there seems to be a fair amount of support in the Queen community for Adam’s involvement, if the sold-out shows at Hammersmith are any indication. So I think it’s all good. :-)

  • taptap

I said 2-3 people conversing. I know there are others lurking there (although very few).

  • taptap

They gripe about Paul Rogers and George Michaels and anyone who’s ever collaborated with Queen. They’re butthurt, plain and simple.

  • Mt2day

Cory was 27 when he was cast in Glee and he looked younger. Did he truly pass for a high schooler? Not really, but he had that sweet naïveté look that made it work. But Glee seriously needs to get back to being about the outcasts in a high school and not about drag queens and reality show rejects (a la The Glee Project, etc.)

  • lovetheusa1776

Glee’s headed to New York. It graduated.

  • Mt2day

That’s sort of my point. Their highest rated episode last season was the school violence episode (not the “Fame” knock-off NY episodes which were horrid.) Sure, they’ll get some ratings boost from the Cory tribute, but Glee was a charming and funny show about high school and they turned it into crap with terrible casting and stories.

  • lovetheusa1776

Whatever – all I care about is Lambert.

  • stargazed

Well, just how perfect is that!

  • lovetheusa1776
  • supersonic

Why are you posting random pictures?

  • HermeticallySealed

Why doesn’t almost every single show out there use young people to play young characters? Most teen age characters are played by people in their mid 20′s to early 30′s. This is how it has always been. Not just Glee.

I would also point out that all shows tend to change as the characters do. It’s inevitable that any show which starts off with school kids is eventually going to exit the school. I might also ask, by what standard is 30 “old?” Those of 10 year olds? lol

  • iluvai

He is so freakin photogenic. Gorgeous picture!

  • taptap

    Why so old, Adam…

    j/k ilhsfm

    ???

  • sdmama

I agree! (Great eye make up, too. Wow). I think he would look even better without beard to be honest, but if he MUST have it, this picture is just about perfect :)

  • iluvai

I think Adam is on topic on this thread.

  • taptap

    hello there cutie pie ???

  • jerica

I SO HOPE NOT. The world needs to see that stripped down gorgeous face. The whole drag queen thing seems way too cliche, and seems like the costuming and gender identity issues will overshadow what we are all longing for: Adam au natural in a real acting gig, that gets to take advantage of his incredible and timeless voice, and makes that voice the focus, not his sexuality.

  • Glitterluv

fine. A Gaga song but a Drag Queen…No Way..
