A casting call has gone out for a Glee recurring character, possibly to become a series regular:

GIRL] Female, 16 and above (to play high school) -PRETTY, star quality. SHE MUST SING WELL…we are looking for more of a pop sound rather than Broadway. Please submit all ethnicities. RECURRING WITH SERIES OPTION.

FOX execs have already announced the addition of two new cast members, Dean Geyer, who will play a potential love interest for Rachel in New York City, and Jacob Artist as Puck’s younger brother who will audition for the Glee club.

Chord Overstreet, who plays Glee clubber, Sam Evans has been promoted to series regular.

Jessica Sanchez is rumored to be negotiating for a  guest spot on Glee. The 16 year old American Idol alum will neither deny nor confirm in interviews, hinting that she does indeed have projects in the pipeline. Fingers crossed!

Other notable spoilers for the upcoming Season:

  • The name of the first episode is “The New Rachel” which could refer to the Glee club looking for a new star and Rachel reinventing herself in New York City.
  • Production for the new season has already begun. Choir room scenes featuring Darren Chris, Chord Overstreet, Vanessa Lengies, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris and Kevin McHale were shot this week, including the choir’s first musical number.
  • Lea Michele tweeted, “Getting ready now to work with the AMAZING Kate Hudson! First scene in the dance studio at NYADA!”  Kate will play Rachel’s tough dance instructor at NYADA.
  • On Rachel’s possible new love interest, Brody (Dean Geyer), Lea tells THR, “”He’s definitely interested in her but I think that she is very hesitant because she doesn’t really know where things stand with Finn; she doesn’t want to make any moves before she knows where they stand and Brody’s not going to give up,””
  • Rachel will also have a new roomate, but you won’t see her at first, “”You see Rachel for the first time in her bed, covering her ears from the sex noises that her roommate is making and you never see the roommate — as of now — you can just hear her,” Michele says with a smile. “It’s going to be hilarious.”
  • Rachel’s first number at NYADA will be a classic Barbra Streisand tune. She’ll be doing a lot of ballet.
  • Kurt (Chris Colfer) will still be in Lima after his NYADA rejection, but he and Rachel will continue to be besties. Lea tells the Huffington Post, “I already have like 20 scenes on the phone with Chris Colfer in the first script. I love working with Chris. He’s the best.”
  • Grant Gustin, who plays the Evil Gay Warbler, Sebastian is in discussions with the show to return to the series.
  • Chris Colfer is currently out promoting his book “The Land of Stories” and will begin shooting next week.
  • Cory Monteith is shooting a movie in Canada. Comic Con spoilers have Finn in the Army and not communicating with loved ones. It’s possible Cory will miss an episode or two.

I think its silly to have the glee project only take one person (They said they were taking only one this year but i still dont believe it) then they do all this other casting…. like if there gonna cast a bunch of people do it on the Glee Project where fans watch.  duh

Hmm. That casting call is interesting. I do know in a recent interview Jessica did say that she had no auditioned for Glee yet. That casting call notice fits her to a T…

16 year old with a pop voice? Hollie Cavanagh!

Except that I believe they are considering Jessica for a short term story arc..not something that could lead to series regular status…

  • Anonymous

Very true. I’m just thrown by the “recurring with series option” thing.

I thought u said before they cannot hire any minors for a series regular because of minor labor laws

  • lovesickheroine

I think the only reason that might hinder Jessica from getting the role is her busy schedule. I’m still crossing my fingers that she’ll appear on glee.

” I thought u said before they cannot hire any minors for a series regular because of minor labor laws”

They can hire them, they just can’t work them anywhere near as hard as they work the others.

Recurring with series option usually refers to roles that they’d like to develop if the actor is well received by the audience. But if not, they can always draw it back.

Reading between the lines, they might’ve written the story for Jessica as her people at CAA probably asked for that kind of favour. But maybe Jessica can’t do it (schedule conflicts, etc) so now, they’ve opened the role to the public.

Or they could just cast Nellie for this role. :p

Blake from The Glee Project is a perfect casting choice to replace the football jock/glee club singer on the show.  It’ll be interesting to see if there really is only 1 “winner” from The Glee Project.  I guess we have to wait for The Glee Project to be over to know those answers!

  • No Thanks

Jessica mentioned she had to audition.  I think this is the role she’s auditioning for.  But maybe Glee is covering all of their bases in case she can’t do it.

I was under the impression that Jessica was auditioning for a specific arc–like a few episodes? The original report used the word “arc” but not “recurring” or “regular.” Think Jesse St. James or Madame Tibideaux (Whoopi) vs. a Sam Evans.

Basically, a guest star vs recurring/regular. That notice reads like they’re seeking someone to become part of the cast–probably in the choir room.

But it could be that TV Line didn’t have that information yet, and the producers could be considering her for something more substantial.

True. With this kind of thing, it’s hard to tell what is actually happening behind the scenes. Personally, I hope she does appear on Glee, even if for a short story arc. It would be such great exposure to a young demographic that may not watch Idol at all.

Having an Idol appear on Glee will add to the ratings.  It looks like Jessica has an arc, so maybe Holly can audition for the recurring series role?

I wonder if Rachel will finally get to meet her Idol – Barbra Streisand?  It just has to happen, even if it’s just Barbra waving at her!

There are no two Rachels… so i am glad that they are looking for a girl with more pop vibe.
