In the interest of bizarro world, political incorrectness, and geekiness I offer this performance of 'Shaft'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfK-UzQ48JE

That is fabulous! Love them.

Part of the reason I notice these things is that I'm a writer. I can't help but notice. It's like a curse. lol

Given that, I think some of these things aren't as apparent to those just enjoying the music, may be by the end of the season. There needs to be something behind the music in order to sustain the show, and keep the average viewer involved.

Ever loved a show that was can't miss for you and then wondered what happened when it was suddenly okay to miss an episode or two, or put off watching it on the DVR? Most people won't even see it coming. They'll just wonder why they lost interest and move on. Writing and editing really are key in anything. Even the most harmless of fluff.

...unless you're Stephanie Meyer...no one can seem to explain that one...

I LOVE Finn's voice when he sings "No Air". Actually, the combination of Rachel and Finn's voices are awesome! Finn (and the actor who plays him) is getting better and better vocally as the season progresses. Pretty cool.
Kind of OT, but the actor that plays Will Schuster reminds me of this singer from Santa Barbara named Eli Goldsmith. It's kind of uncanny. Same nerdy-ish appeal that makes you go...wow...you can dance and sing and play an instrument...HOT!

I loved "No Air!" I agree that the writing is unrealistic and not the best, but I don't care because the musical numbers and the jokes are great.

I knew Puck was Jewish! It's so nice to see "the Jewish kid" portrayed as a stud who's not necessarily the smartest kid in the class. If he and Rachel (who's more stereotypically Jewish) are hooking up next week, at least we know she'll be smart about it and not get herself preggers!

I agree that Cory Monteith isn't the strongest singer in the group, but I love his character and I think he sings well enough. And I just sit there LMAO that those Idol producers passed on Mercedes; that girl can sang.

Also, I have to agree with your assessments, erinthered. It's starting to feel like an hour-long comedy sketch. Brilliant stuff, but not enough substance to the characters to keep you connected. And No Emma: Shame!!!

I'm seriously hoping Terri gets run over by a truck and put out of our collective misery, and then Will can picture her hitting the windshield when he's struggling with premature ejaculation. ;-)

I love this show so. My hubby actually sat through it with me for the first time last night and was like "This is one f'ed up show. I like it.".

Our favorite line of the night was during the Schuester/Sue fight and Finn breaks in and says something along the lines of "If we wanted to witness fighting like this, those of with two parents still at home would stay at home on payday." Love it!

While I'm with you all on really, really wanting to see more numbers from across the awesome cast, I'm not calling a problem, yet. Here's the way I see it--to sell the show initially, it helped to have a big, obvious romantic pair, Rachel and Finn. Now hopefully they'll roll out and develop the rest of the cast, who have been only sketched in, however deliciously.

Looks like next week, more Puck, which is awesome. Boy does need a solo, stat. They started to make Quinn more human and sympathetic the last few. Want another big number from Kurt, and yeah, Wheel Chair Kid!

It is just a fun show with music, start analyzing the bee jeesus out of it and bye bye fun. I have the news to go to to find strong compelling or whatever - I dont think this show needs to be pulled back from the brink of anything - they need to just keep doing what they are doing

POINT '“ SCHUESTER.

ETA: I think Sue calls Artie 'Wheels' , not 'Wheelchair.' And yeah, she called the football player (Mark?) 'Shaq.' LOL.

Actually, I think she calls him 'Shaft'

In the interest of bizarro world, political incorrectness, and geekiness I offer this performance of 'Shaft'

Sue was AMAZING tonight. So many funny lines. I loved the songs as well. Especially Ride With Me, it didn't look lip-synched. Great to see Mercedes have the lead, now we just need more Wheels and Gay Kid. Hee. Hee.

There's just too much going on. Ryan Murphy has a lot of trouble simplifying, and he needs to that fast before he ends up like Tim Kring and Heroes. Lots of characters, lots of stories, and yet still really boring once the shiny wears off. Style can only get you so far. JJ Abrams pulled Lost back from the brink, and I want to believe Murphy can do the same.

Totally agree. It's very very hard to weave the gimmicks and multiplicity in these shows together with really strong compelling story lines, and they're missing the boat on the second half of this kind of. Not too late to fix it though. Hope they do. Because I've needed a new Buffy the VS to be devoted to for a *long* time.
