Glee Deleted Scenes: Mike Chang Sr’s Touching Gift to His Son (VIDEO)

CRYING NOW. Glee co-creator, Ryan Murphy released another deleted scene today. This one appears to be from the finale “Goodbye,” involving the parents of Mike Chang (Harry Shrum Jr.) who give him a touching graduation gift.

I thought the Tina/Mike storyline got short shrift in the finale, and now we know there was more about the couple and Mike’s family cut from the show due to time constraints.

It opens with Mike and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) pledging to stay together after Mike takes off in September to study dance at the Joffrey in Chicago. Think that’s an important plot point? I DO.

Mike’s parents arrive bearing a gift. Mike Sr. has started a foundation for parents of first generation Asian kids in the arts. He apologizes to his son for not supporting his dreams sooner (Dad nearly disowned Mike when he announced plans to pursue dance professionally). THERE ARE TEARS ALL AROUND. WHYYY GLEE WHYYYY.

Too bad the finale couldn’t have run a little longer.

    Whoever edits Glee is horrible, because all of these deleted scenes are better than what we’ve been getting on the actual show…

    Awwww. Tears. Mike Chang is probably my favorite character on the show. Sucks that this scene wasn’t shown. It’s important on a lot of levels.

    What kills me, is that Ryan tweeted out the video with the hashtag #criminallyneglectedcouples as if he has no say in what happens in editing. SERIOUSLY DUDE?

    LOL, ikr. Does he forget it’s, uh, his show? I’m not a Finchel hater, but a lot of their stuff could have been cut out of the finale to make way for this kind of scene.

    That was so touching.  It belonged in the episode.  Mike’s father is in what profession?

    O my, This scene is priceless. Would have rather seen this and less Finchel.

    No idea but didn’t Tina visited him at work ?? I think I must have missed that part..
