Glee “Big Brother” Preview: “Somebody That I Used to Know” (VIDEO)

GLEE: Blaine's (Criss Darren, R) older brother Cooper (guest star Matt Bomer, L) visits in "Big Brother," the Spring Premiere episode of GLEE airing Tuesday, April 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2012 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Adam Rose/FOX

The wait is almost over kids. The Glee 7 week hiatus ends next Tuesday, with the spring premiere of “Big Brother”.   Finally, we get a little backstory on Blaine (Darren Criss).

Matt Bomer (White Collar) guest stars as Blaine Anderson’s (Darren Criss) big brother Cooper, who breezes into Lima to soak in the attention a minor acting career has brought him. Namely, he is the star of a cheesy credit rating commercial. Everyone is impressed, including Blaine’s boyfriend Kurt (Chris Colfer).  Even Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is smitten!

But there’s some bad blood between these brothers, as you’ll see in their duet of the Gotye hit, “Somebody That I Used To Know”.  What could have come between these two siblings to tear them apart? We find out on April 10.

ETA: According to EOnline, the song  happens at the end of the episode, at which point emotions are at “an all time high.”  That’s Kurt at the beginning of the video, urging Blaine to make amends with his brother and Blaine does it the only way he knows how–through song.  The Blaine/Cooper childhood flashback happens during the performance.

Man, this is going to be good. I love that song and they really do a great job with it. I’m really looking forward to the return of Glee. I don’t think I would have said that at this time last year.

That was heart breaking!  But why did little Blaine not have curly hair?

What could have happened between the 2 siblings ?
    1. They just grew apart… They are too busy with their own lives. The big age difference doesn’t help either.
    2. Their parents have problem with each other and big brother blames Blaine for this.
    3. Blaine is not on good terms with his father and does not like it that big brother takes a neutral position and keeps his distance.

Don’t really like the song, love its lyrics and the gorgeous looking singers though. Just watching the video of the song leaves it open to interpretation… Some will see two brothers (like I do) but I do think that many see two (ex)lovers instead because of sexuality of the character of Blaine Anderson and the actor of Cooper Anderson. The Glee creators really know how to play with our minds…

Love the song and this version.  Miss Glee big time.

As far as I can tell, Blaine resents his older brother for taking his John Cusack action figure.

Other than that, I got nothing.

love this- I wonder why they grew apart?

This performance is frigging amazing! Seriously brought me to tears. I love that we are going to get some character development for Blaine!

And way to go Glee for having the straight boy play gay, and the gay boy play straight (at least we think).

At first I thought the obvious. Blaine came out and Cooper said he was on his own with that. Now I have another idea. Cooper has to be the center of attention. He still treats Blaine like he’s 6 years old. And Blaine is fed up with it. When Blaine gets angry, he festers, then explodes. If this comes at the end then I expect it to end abruptly just like this with no resolution. Too much stink-eye from Blaine for a hug and an ‘I love you.’ It would leave fans wanting more. Then Cooper can do something like show up at Nationals, and see that little brother is not so little anymore and no longer a child. And Cooper would realize he’s not an underling anymore and now an equal. At least that’s what I would do if I was one of the writers.

Omg! I love this song and I love Matt Bomer! Just perfect!

My lip reading is rusty but I think in the flashback he is saying, “Stop it … I hate you … you are a f”  Then the song continues, “but I don’t want to live that way …reading into every word you say”.  I could be way off though. Heartbreaking if true.

The age difference between the two brothers is big and that does not help. Maybe Blaine admires his brother a lot but the feeling is not mutual.
