According to TMZ, Gene Simmons’ daughter, Sophie auditioned for X Factor today:

Gene Simmons spent Father’s Day with Simon Cowell and Britney Spears … but not by choice — he joined his daughter at the last minute as she tried out for “X-Factor.

Sources close to “X-Factor” tell TMZ … Sophie Simmons showed up at the San Francisco auditions today … saying she wanted a “fair shot” and telling the judges, “This isn’t about my dad. This is about my audition.”

Of course … her famous father was in attendance, but we’re told he almost didn’t make it. Sources say the KISS front man got a surprise call from his 19-year-old daughter the night before … saying she couldn’t come home for Father’s Day because she was trying her hand at the talent competition.

We’re told Gene decided to hop on a private jet and made it just in time to see his daughter belt out some tunes.

We’ll find out soon if the apple falls far from the tree.

As if Gene Simmons’ daughter needs X Factor to jump start a music career. Isn’t she on his TV reality show, Family Jewels? This is just a grab for publicity and extra TV time. coughfamewhorescough

I think these music and movie stars are starting to realize these music competition shows are a decent way to get publicity for their children’s music career.

I thought his daughter is Amanda from Ugly Betty…. xDD

If she TRULY wanted to be famous couldn’t she ask her dad to make a few phone calls to execs and labels? And didn’t Jim Carrey’s daughter audition for Idol this season? Come on celeb dads!

The record industry is so broken that even the president couldn’t help with phone calls her own daughter. They just sign you if they really believe you can sell.

But I think she’s is just fame whoring, differently from Jim’s daughter who’s really a singer/songwriter for years and is trying to pursue a career out there. I googled Sophie’s name and she seems to be everywhere in Hollywood, just like Demi Lovato. Actually, they must know each other, since it seems that Demi is friend (or even girlfriend) with Gene’s son.

That means she will likely make the live shows, right? Uggh, I’m sorry, but I truly despise nepotism. Things like this makes me realize why I couldn’t get into singing shows to begin with. BLEH!

I don’t think she will make the live shows. She’s just there for the ratings, just like Jim’s daughter. They’ll cut her on bootcamp and her dad will appear in the show like 2 or 3 times. That’s what they want.

Uh oh. I hope there isn’t any bias then in terms of voting if she knows Demi.

Well if she didn’t want the focus to be on her father, why mention it?

Like giving a false ID to the producers and deny the physical similarities with the girl on Family Jewels? I don’t think she could hide even if she tried hard.

The story is she called him to say she wouldn’t be there for Father’s Day because of the audition and he high-tailed it there on his private jet to see her audition.

If a celebrities’ child is talented, then they should be allowed to audition.   Mention the parent ONCE and after that no more.  Good talent should be allowed.  I am sure many football fans voted for Jordon Sparks.  She had the talent to succeed with or without Daddy.

Go Sophie.  Seems like a great kid.

I’m just curious why she chose X-Factor and not Idol to audition. I wonder if there’s any bad blood between Kiss and Steven Tyler. I can’t imagine a feud between JLo and Kiss so it isn’t b/c of her. It just seems odd maybe she want’s to meet Demi and Britney.

“I’m just curious why she chose X-Factor and not Idol to audition…maybe she want’s to meet Demi and Britney.”

Just a guess, Listening, but it may be wholly dependent on the genre of music she prefers to sing. The perception still may be that more current music genres are accepted on XFUS than on Idol, with it’s narrow song lists and accent on Diva voices last season for the females who got through…even the country stylist had to show she could Diva it up.

If it were me, and I were serious about wanting some national exposure, I’d look at the track record for my style of music. It’s not like her Dad’s name couldn’t get her an intro to the new judges, if that’s all she wanted.

    JMO. Of Course.

I do like Sophie.  I watch Family Jewels and at least on screen she’s the most sane person in that family.  I have heard her sing on the show last year and I’m not sure she’ll make the cut, but either way it’s a good way to get ratings for the show and start a singing career.

It might be easier than you think to hide.  Who watches Family Jewels?

Maybe it’s not so “corny” after all.  lol…. I thought Jim Carey’s daughter was sweet and her looks reminded me of beautiful Kelly C.  I was hoping to see her go farther.

I think this might have been one of my first reality shows that I liked/watched.  Gene Simmons reminds me of my brother in law(okay then! lol), Gene wasn’t a fan of my favorite rocker DLR, but also he is a cute family man with a lovely family and very smart.  He also wasn’t too nice to Adam Lambert, but I loved their performance together. That was epic.

It’s been on for 7 seasons so people are watching.  Biggest ratings ever for that show last year when Gene and Shannon finally got married.

I know this sounds like sour grapes but a girl with a famous rich guy for a dad (who hops on a private jet as casually as you or I would book a Southwest Airlines ticket and maybe spring for a beer inflight AND who has spent years in the music and television industry) needs to go on a cheesy television show to become a singer? Go away! Can’t stand the dad which may be coloring my reaction. Or not.
