Many of you are looking forward to Adam Lambert’s set with Queen as part of Friday’s I Heart Radio festival in Las Vegas. But according to Billboard, Adam won’t be the only guest performer joining legendary band on stage.

Nate Ruess and his entire band Fun. (“We Are Young,” “Carry On”) are scheduled to perform with Adam Lambert and Queen, according to Billboard.

Ruess and Queen, along with frontman Adam Lambert, were  spotted rehearsing classics “Somebody to Love” and “Fat Bottomed Girls” on Thursday (Sept 17). It’s unclear at this time how many songs they’ll perform together.  Fun. is also on the bill for Friday night.

The two day festival will take place at the MGM Grand Arena and will be streamed online. Queen’s set is to begin at 12 am PT.

Not familiar with Fun, but then I’m a Queen fan…

  • H.A.

Fun will perform Somebody To Love with Queen and Adam/Queen/Nate will perform Fat Bottom Girls together.

  • voco_qara

Meh I wanted to Muse perform with Queen. Now that would be epic.

  • taptap

Wait, so Queen + Adam Lambert might be playing with a surprise guest at the iheart radio festival?! And it’s possible the surprise guest is Fun?! Who knew…

  • taptap

Fun will be fun tho ;>

  • Q3

There will be a total of 7 songs in the Queen + Adam Lambert + fun. set. fun. Adam will be part of 6 songs, he will not sing STL. Set will be 30 minutes long and they are scheduled to close the show taking the stage at 11:59PM.

    The 7 songs:

Fat Bottom Girls – Queen+Adam+fun. with Nate and Adam singing leads.
Somebody to Love – Queen+fun. with Nate singing lead

Based on rehearsal reports — the 5 other songs are likely to be:
Another One Bites the Dust – Queen + Adam (US #1)
The Show Must Go On Queen + Adam
Bohemian Rhapsody Queen + Adam with Freddie video. (Like the 2012 Hammersmith version)
    WWRY/WRTC Queen + Adam

All of these songs were part of Queen + Adam Lambert concerts in 2012.

Heading off to Vegas to see this show! Glad they are scheduled last because my plane can be late and I will still make it.

ETA: fun. is great live and this combo will be spectacular!

  • taptap

Check out ‘We are Young’ vid feat. Janelle Monae on You Tube. Fun is a group that worked hard for a decade before finally breaking. They’re not actually very young any more, but they are indeed fun.

  • Q3

Everyone who follows Adam closely know it was fun. on Monday-Tuesday because it was leaked from rehearsals.

  • taptap

Yes, I know, that was sarcasm. This is not new news.

  • Q3

I can’t see how that would work. Muse + Adam I can see. Matt B. with Queen I can see. But Muse and Queen would just be a muddle IMHO.

Better to put up a post than to have the headlines thread overtaken by chatter.

  • ANNIEBA

Love Fun! I like this! Have fun, lol, Q3!

  • milwlovesadam

I’m really glad that it is Fun that will duet with Adam. They are huge, popular, and great live.

Was still hoping for a Bowie surprise with Under Pressure though. Time will tell.

And, memo to Adam, please, do not be a polite singer as you usually are when doing a duet, please blast away, slay, kill and mop the floor and leave everyone else at IHeart in shock and awe with your talent. Please show the US audiences and media what you did last year with Queen, please.

    I don’t want much. LOL.

  • Ronnie D

    What an odd addition.

  • seashellz51

I think .fun will do a fine job. I was sort of hoping Killer Queen was gonna be included. But, Im not picky. I’ll take Queen + Adam singing anything. This is a radio show so I would assume their most popular songs would be included. Cant wait to watch thru the livestream.

  • voco_qara

Maybe it would’ve been a mess but I think they would’ve been able to make it work with the right song and arrangement. Nothing against Fun. I like them too but Muse just rock harder and are one of the greatest live bands ever. To see Queen fronted by Adam along side Muse would’ve something else.

  • jujubee22

Not odd at all. Fun is already performing that night — they are heavily influenced by Queen. Nate has always wanted to perform with them. I think they tried to do something together at the Grammy’s but it didn’t work out. From the get go it was stated that there would be some additional special guests with Queen. Sounds like a lot of fun (no pun intended)

Question 1. No rehearsal video leak yet?
Question 2. How long does CW make me wait to see this thing on TV?
Question 3. Is any of you going there with high quality video camera by any chance? Or, recap, please!

It is news to me. I follow Adam closely, well on this blog anyway. I didn’t know until MJ posted it….

I am a huge Adam fan, as well as other singers.
However I just don’t go to any singer-specific fan sites. Can’t stand the fawning and the OTT fan stuff that I encountered the few times I ventured into either Adam’s or Cook’s RCA sites.

  • Mel432

I think Nate is about Adam’s age, 31.

  • Mel432
  • taptap

I don’t go to RCA sites either, but the Fun info was all over some of the Adam-specific forums earlier today, and of course right from the start iHeart talked about Queen + Adam Lambert, along with a (some?) surprise guest(s). I guess I just assumed everyone already knew.

  • taptap

Bowie would be AMAZING! But I never got my hopes up for that particular surprise guest, considering his preference to be out of the limelight during the last decade, and even lately despite his new album/single release.

  • taptap

You can bet there will be fan vids (and probably good ones) posted within hours of the Friday night concerts ending. I’d guess by around 3-4 am Sat. – keep an eye on You Tube.

  • H.A.

No comparison needed. They are not in competition with each other. They are going to have fun performing with Queen and put on a great show.

  • ANNIEBA

I really like Nate’s voice so I am looking forward to seeing him sing with Adam. I bet they will sound terrific together. I do wish it was on a better song though, in fact Radio Gaga would have been perfect for a duet.

  • ANNIEBA

I really, really wanted Adam to do Killer Queen, damn.

  • Kariann Hart

Q3, how exciting for you! Yes, have fun and maybe bring back some photos. I would love to see Adam with Queen, WOW!

  • bridgette12

I would rather have Bowie than Fun.

  • Kariann Hart

I don’t see Paul and Justin on the list. Will these three sing separately?

  • Sharon S.

    They perform Saturday.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Saturday:

    Paul McCartney
    Zedd
    Maroon 5
    Tim McGraw
    Miley Cyrus
    Thirty Seconds to Mars
    Bruno Mars
    Phoenix
    Miguel
    Ke$ha
    Drake
    Justin Timberlake

  • Axxxel

Check out the glee version of Fun’s song” We are young”..LOL

  • taptap

I doubt you’d find many (any?) that wouldn’t agree, but Bowie is about a million times less likely to make an appearance than Fun.
