    From your lips to Blake’s ears. Ever since I heard of Latin week, this was my very first thought and I cannot let it go (though I love people suggesting Daddy Yankee because that would be hilarious). Smooth would fit him so well and guarantee a pimp spot. Actually, anything Santana would work. Step away from the Ricky Martin, Enrique, Macarena and Mambo No. 5.

    At the very least though he will be in the 2nd half of the show – or else, I know someone is intentionally sabotaging his chances.

    I think I may go to the tour this year. I think Blake will place fairly high.

    I like Smooth for Blake, but I can also see him doing something interesting with Santana’s “Evil Ways.” It has a great beat.

    I’m guessing Brasilian (Portuguese) music counts as “Latin” too doesn’t it? I can’t find the Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 version of “Mais Que Nada” on YouTube. I’d love to hear Melinda do this.

    I was just watching VH1à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Top 20 covers. This was Number 12. I think this just goes to show that there is alot more to being a singer than hitting all the right notes. This is outstanding. IMHO.

    Latin night ; Suckjaya should do the Banana Boat song so when he sings the chorus ” daylight come and me wanna go home” maybe voters would listen and send him home.He could do a Carmen Miranda thing with his hair , just add some fruit.
    Most of the idol wannabes will probably sing better than J-Lo . Her singing ability has always been so over-rated .

    Have any of you heard the Brooks and Dunn song called ” My Heart is Lost to You” ? It was a hit for them a few years ago. It has a latin beat but if Simon even got a hint that it was sang by country artists he would hate it and anyone who would sing it. Toni Braxton also did some songs with a latin beat that were pretty good. She can really play spanish guitar well.
