Felicia Barton – American Idol Season 8 Top 36 Contestant

Yay,Felicia! With a fairly weak crop of girls I think she can pull it off.

I had only heard her name here and don’t even remember them showing her so it’s hard to see where she makes the top 12 unless she pulls off a great performance in a weaker group. She does have a good voice so we’ll see.

Felicia was my favorite right from the beginning. I was SO disappointed to find out she wasn’t in the top 36 but i’m happy now :biggrin_wp: oh yes I am!

I’ve loved this girl since I first heard he sing on her MySpace page. Love. Her. I said I wouldn’t vote this year, but if it takes that to get her into the Top 12, I’m doing it.

Nevermind. I saw the other blog post about Joanna being cut.

Really hope they do right by her and show an introduction package on her. People don’t know her so she’s really at a disadvantage.

Thank you for making the effort to hide the top 36 for those of us who don’t like spoilers. We appreciate the gesture.

I missed tonight’s show and was really surprised when I came here and saw this thread. My first thought was “so the spoilers were wrong” until I read the blog post below this one. In any case, I’m glad Felicia is in! :D

I thought I wouldn’t vote and get so invested in a contestant this year after I found out from the spoiler list that Felicia was cut, but now that she’s in again, I’ve gotta vote harder for her cos she didn’t have any air time prior and ppl wouldn’t know her. But i’m not from the US, so voting may be a little tough for me.

Watching the video of ‘No One’ from Virginia Beach, Felicia should of sang Dionne Warwick’s ‘Walk on By.’

Listening to ‘No One’ a few months ago, I was instantly hooked, by the tone, depth and imperfect vocal.

And I wasn’t going to get invested this year. Yeah right.

Season 8 is really looking up for me because of this change. I hope Felicia does well in this so-called “guy’s year.”

Like Gwendolyn, I am going to vote extra hard for her because she’s starting with a serious disadvantage. We’ve only heard her sing for like what, 5 seconds on the show? Plus, if she fails to make it to the Top 12 after the semis, there is NO WAY the judges will pick her for the wild card; they were already willing to cut her loose once. So, I need to make sure to VOTE VOTE VOTE!

Felicia get short stick in bargain. I didnot remember her at all. Cause they didnot showed her at all in Hollywood round and only a brief in last episode.

Tough for her to go to top 12.

Hopefully Felicia delivers the goods to make up for TPTB short-changing her during the Hollywood rounds.

The vast majority of Idol watchers that heard about Felicia’s return and Joanna’s disqualification are going, “Felicia who?”

I’m not surprised that people are saying “Felicia who?” because Idol certainly gave them no reason for anyone to know who she is. Maybe 10 – 15 seconds of her initial audition is all we’ve seen, and they certainly didn’t show any of her Hollywood Week singing when they cut her. But I’ll put my bitterness about all that behind me now and concentrate on practicing my texting skills. :)

Now if Normund/Nick would just get dq’d for being over the age limit (seriously, I don’t believe he’s a day under 35, minimum), then we might end up with a really great season.

That’s really exciting news! I couldn’t get on here last night or earlier today so this is the first time I’m seeing this.

I’m really happy for her and for you mj!

I love this girl’s voice, was an absolute travesty she wasn’t put through originally. Given her lack of screen time I’m not getting my hopes up, but based on talent alone she is right up there with the other top girls.

I find it interesting that this woman has already connected with so many fervent Idol fans based on a few seconds of screen time. Pre-show youtube videos don’t influence me so much.

I am very confused by you, Felicia. I read that you are a Youth Leader in your church on Sundays and that your father is a Minister. How in the world do you sing in a bar on Saturday and lead the youth on Sunday? I cannot for the life of me understand how your church would be able to uphold this.

So, is it that you sold out for stardom? Because, if you are really a wonderful example for the kids in your church who are so in to you, they’ll be sure to grow up and swing from bar hopping to church and believe, truly believe, that it’s okay to do that.

There is no gray area, here, you know….that is, if you’re truly living in Christ.
