Fantasia’s 3rd single from her album Back to Me impacts Urban radio on April 11. The Season 3 winner will perform the tune on this week’s Idol results show

[New York, NY – March 30, 2011] Grammy Award and American Idol Season 3 winner FANTASIA will return to American Idol tomorrow night (3/31) to make her national television debut performance of “Collard Greens and Cornbread,” the third single from her current critically-acclaimed album Back To Me.  The single will impact urban radio on April 11th.

The Doo-Wop reminiscent “Collard Greens and Cornbread,” which flashes back to the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell timeless duet “Your Precious Love,” was written and produced by Warren “Oak” Felder and Andrew “Pop” Wansel.

“Bittersweet,” Fantasia’s first single from Back To Me, which she launched on American Idol last May, recently won the North Carolina native her first ever Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Song.

One of the most electrifying live performers of this generation, Fantasia will take to the main stage at this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on April 30th and the Essence Music Festival July 1-3, also held in New Orleans.

Wow, can’t wait to actually hear her song on the radio. Her album is fantastic and this is just one of many songs that could be a hit.

IMO, this isn’t the best song title in the world, but hopefully it does well for Fantasia

Fantasia should get together with Chris Brown. A match made in heaven if I ever saw one.

Why would anyone suggest such a thing? Unless they want to see Fantasia physically abused?

I know we’re not supposed to question another poster’s remarks, but I find this disconcerting.

Fantasia was so cute as a judge on RuPaul this week. Really, she was just adorable.

    LOVE this song. Can’t wait.

I so agree. I’m also not seeing how Chris and Fantasia are a match. Is Fantasia a violent abuser? I don’t see the similarities between the two.

What a rip off of the Dells.

I thought Even Angels was Fantasia’s first single. Am I wrong?

There are like a dozen songs that start out like that. I’m pretty sure that’s what the press release meant by this:

The Doo-Wop reminiscent “Collard Greens and Cornbread,” which flashes back to the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell timeless duet “Your Precious Love,”

The whole album has an updated classic soul feel to it. I think its meant as a homage.

That’s one of my favorite songs from my favorite idol cd. It’s going to be great hearing it on the radio. She is one of the most exciting performers I have ever seen. So glad they are releasing another single to radio.

    Neither do I.

What a rip off of the Dells.

Not a rip off in the least, more of an homage. I read something recently that said, can’t quote verbatim, but the gist of it was hacks borrow, geniuses steal, lol. In that case it was regarding Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, where she was certainly paying homage to several songs of the past. Same thing here. No copyright infringement. Just a nod to the past. Gotta admit it’s genius, and as I said earlier, one of my favorite songs from a stellar cd.

It’s a huge honor and recognition for Fantasia to be picked as a headliner at Jazz Fest! I plan to be there, but don’t know if I’ll make it over to her stage. Still, I’ll be interested in seeing the local reaction to her set. She gets one of the main stages, closing act, on the first Saturday; that’s a very.big.deal. To compare, the day before, Wyclef Jean is on that stage at the same time, and the day after her, John Legend and the Roots gets that slot.

I can never think of Fantasia without remembering the performance she gave on the finale of Season 7. Hysterical – I go and watch it from time to time on youtube, just because it was so perfect.

I was just reminiscing about that a few days ago in some thread. Truly, one of the best things EVER to take place on the Idol stage. Both for the WTF awesomeness of the performance itself and for the look of sheer terror on Simon Cowell’s face. :-D
