Simon's expression was a perfect symbol of how he has absolutely no comprehension of anything truly American -- country, for example, or the sanctified African-American church.

I think it was about time 19 admitted they have nothing to do with the urban market, and no comprehension of the relationship between Fantasia and her fans, especially the ones who flocked to see her on Broadway.

Of course, 19's style is more the harmless and accommodating Leona Lewis, whose massive pop music smash "Bleeding Love" peaked at No. 74 at black radio...even Amy Winehouse's album was a No. 4 urban album and Leona's not on that chart. Shows you the kind of positioning 19 prefers for a black artist.

No shame on either side. Just admitting the truth about what 19 is in essence and what Fantasia is in essence.

I actually thought her performance was wicked! Loved it. I think Simon is a bit narrow minded sometimes.

Me too pj. I love Fanty - weird hair, crazy antics and all. Her voice has so many layers and so much character, I could listen to her all day.

She's overcome so many obstacles, I don't think this girl knows how to quit. That kind of personality doesn't always quite fit with the big corporate mentality. But I have no doubt she'll land on her feet yet again.

Add me to the Love Fantasia column. I am much more impressed with those talents willing to try new things and go in different directions then those who do the same thing over and over. (a la Daughtry and Underwood, not taking anything away from their talent and success)

Tasia is nobody's fool, and I wish her well. She is fierce, outlandish and unique, but AI likes its cookie cutter idols, and she is that square peg. I loved her performance on AI, she did get the masses talking and after refried, reheated versions of generic trite songs, it was a welcome relief.
Fortunately, it appears the the r/b community does "get her" and she will have an opportunity to share projects, and make her music. Looking forward to anything she does

I doubt this was about money or her AI performance. If it was about money, they would have quietly dropped her. And the AI performance was exactly what the show loves--a water cooler moment that gets a strong reaction from the public.

I think she's about to do something very un-Idol like, either with her music or another project, and they don't want to have any part of it. So they deliberately leaked the news of dropping her to EW, complete with a "creative differences" explanation, to get ahead of the story.

I'm fine with her leaving 19. She didn't make cookie cutter music for the American Idol audience, so they had no use for her. They only acknowledged the existence of her second cd after it received 3 Grammy nominations.

As a fan, you get used to the fact that Fantasia is a disaster when it comes to image and marketing. That's the way it has been, that's the way it always will be. Oprah has already sat her down to talk about it. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20202509,00.html?xid=rss-fullcontentcnn

If Oprah can't get through to her, I don't think anyone can. But as long as she has her voice, she will have a career.

This is the track that is floating around the internet as a possible single for her third album. It doesn't sound controversial to me, but you never know with Idol.

That "bore me" performance is extraordinary. I think she will be around for a long, long time , perhaps much longer than some currently more successful alumni. Fantasia is very unique in a good way.

It will be really interesting to see what Fanny does now that no one is there to reign her in. It will certainly be entertaining, that's for sure.

We'll probably never know exactly why 19E dropped Fannie, not unless she spills. Something tells me there's a lot more to the story than the "insider" is divulging.

I'm a relatively new Fantasia fan, having first seen her perform with Elliott at the IGB thingie...her genuineness, talent and interaction with the children made a huge impression on me. Then, I went into Fannie fandom overdrive after that AI performance. Yes, WICKED is right! The Simons are freakin' clueless.

Go 'head on Fantasia, you are the shit, girl!!!

   Clay Aiken isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t managed by 19

And David Archuleta is. The insider got their info a little mixed up.

Clayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s name isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t in the article and you are correct, he sued to get out of the management contract in 2004. From the EW website

A rep for 19 declined to comment, but assured EW that management deals for David Cook, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jordin Sparks, and Blake Lewis remain intact. 19 also represents Annie Lennox and The Spice Girls

Now this makes sense. I knew he had sued. We discussed this in another forum - we were all a bit confused about Clay's involvement with 19. Thanks gelfling

LOL. Well I just watched it and i hated it. I was never a big fan of hers but she seemed to be screaming a lot and looked a little scarey! That's the really great thing about the music biz. There's something for everyone - different strokes!
