wrong adam brock, I think, isn’t it the Jazz guy who made it, MJ?

  • Kesia Monteith

WHAT!!? NOOOOOOOOO! Why would they cut one out of only two boys I care about? Oh Scott, why you, why would they cut such a talent like you? But they will go and cast another Scotty McCreery!? This season is not looking up for me anymore. :(

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

They CUT Scott Dangerfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!  F*****CK this, I’m OUT.

  • Anonymous

I don’t think that is the same Adam Brock.

    I really like Hallie.

  • Alex Adamle

I don’t think that’s the right Adam Brock… The Adam Brock on the Road to Hollywood videos looks almost entirely different and I think is from a different area.

  • Anonymous

Local girl makes it!! I believe Haley Day is the first person from Baltimore on the show–as far as I know. It will be exciting! I think she has a very nice voice–but over sang some at the audition. So, I’m very curious to see more of her.

I already love Reed and Heejun–looking like a fun season.

  • Anonymous

    Scott Dangerfield … REALLY?!?!

    Wow. I have no words.

  • Anonymous

Oh thank the Great Spaghetti Monster!  No David Leathers! I don’t think I could take that kid’s personality for a season. [JMHO, folks. I'm sure he's massively talented.]

Hallie Day – No surprise. Didn’t care for her tone, but the girl is GORGEOUS. And her humble demeanor might make her more relatable than the other gorgeous ones.  She’s top five for sure.

They’re really stacking the deck with talented girls who are super-pretty. I think they want a girl winner BADLY.

  • chessguy99

Aaron deserved to be on last season. Great that they cast him in this one. A decent male R&B voice for once.

Scott wasn’t all that, never saw him as more than eye-candy that wouldn’t make live shows.

  • hazuki

Yesss.I love all the girls so far!

  • Kirsten

I’m glad Aaron made it this year. I really liked what little we saw of him last year.

I don’t like Hallie. Is she Idol’s answer to Chris on XF? I thought she was a little screamy and I hope there is no chance of her relapsing with her personal issues.

Are they freakin’ kidding with Adam? His voice isn’t all that and he’s personality free. I know they don’t want another country winner, but obvious much? Maybe he has a good audition and improves in Hollywood?

David would have been a hard sell. I bet he gets a villian edit in Hollywood (that creepy “stealing girlfriends” schtick was just the start). I hate it when Idol plays with people’s careers like that. He’s got a good voice.

It will be interesting to see the Scott story unfold. He gave a good audition last year, but who knows what went down in Hollywood.

  • Anonymous

Scott Dangerfield? I was looking forward to seeing him perform.

  • Anonymous

bummer that they cut Scott & David…I was looking forward to seeing them compete in Top 24

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

Really surprised Scott Dangerfield was cut. I thought he’d be a sure thing to be in the competition this year.

  • sagi

Maybe they are cutting the boys that most likely would take away voters from the girls? Bet they end up with a lot of talented girls and fodder boys!?

  • Anonymous

Sorry about the Adam Brock confusion. I got the right guy, but haven’t found any videos yet.

  • Anonymous

I’m sooooo happy they cut Scott Dangerfield

    :)

  • Anonymous

If this is correct, I am really happy to see Aaron back.  I think somehow he got overshadowed by Jordan.  It seemed that last year, of the males, they took one of each “type.”  Too bad they didn’t do that with the females.

  • getgetaway

Timing is everything.  Scott Dangerfield should just gone to Hollywood last year.  I think he was unique enough where he would have brought diversity to Season 10′s Top 13.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

If that’s the case they need to cut P2 because he’s cougar bait for sure.  So far the guys seem like cannon fodder.

  • Anonymous

This is the Adam Brock that made it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-qrWB3OaWE

I understand why they cut David Leathers. He is good, but there are several young black r&B males in, and he must have lost out to them.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/4DS2H4EB44GRR26MRZWI5MBB5Q Diane

According to this, Scott Dangerfield dropped out before Hollywood Week of his own accord…to finish his education: http://www.wetpaint.com/american-idol/articles/early-american-idol-favorite-scott-dangerfield-drops-out

  • Anonymous

    That was last year.

  • Anonymous

that was last year that he did that

  • getgetaway

The way that TPTB was pimping P2 (and it wasn’t like he had a back stage story), I think it’s very unlikely he got cut.

  • Anonymous

There is no way Phillip wins. Did anyone ever notice that the three rock white guys that won all had minimal buzz heading out of auditions? It seems like the fans that go for that type like underdogs. Phillip is anything but an underdog.

  • Kirsten

The way that TPTB was pimping P2 (and it wasn’t like he had a back stage story), I think it’s very unlikely he got cut.

I’m still holding out hope. They pimped the heck out of Chris Medina during the first audition show and featured him heavily throughout Hollywood and still cut him at the Green Mile.I just don’t like P^2. Maybe he’ll improve in Hollywood.

  • http://twitter.com/HaleysShindig HaleysShindig

I’m down with the almost local girl with Hallie Day:)

  • Kesia Monteith

Yeah, now I am thinking he thinking he should have went to Hollywood last time without dropping out. All they did was reject him. So pointless for him to have ever auditioned now. So sad, I have never been this disappointed in a cut, like, ever! :(

  • http://twitter.com/HaleysShindig HaleysShindig

Being suicidal is a different animal than being addicted to Meth.

  • Anonymous

    Not a fan of Hallie.

  • http://twitter.com/lufflyness Jenna

Am I wrong or are all the announced females so far blonde?

  • Kirsten

Being suicidal is a different animal than being addicted to Meth.

I thought she said she got involved with drugs as well (one of the reasons she gave for leaving New York was that she was an addict). And I got the distinct impression that the drugs, grouped with her lack of support, led to the suicide attempt. That’s pretty serious and worrisome. She’s had her life together for a while, though.

As for the new, jazzier version of Adam? Are they serious? This dude looks like he’s 42 and while he has a nice voice, is not the next Michael Buble. Fodder.

  • Kesia Monteith

Which I was hoping they would NOT do, just to make a girl win. It will sink the show and make it boring or poor to do so. Of course, a massively off-key live pop singer/mediocre actress is a “judge”, who is there to pick Eben Franckewitz over River St. James.

  • Kesia Monteith

How OLD is that guy? Isn’t he too old to on on Idol? LOL

  • http://twitter.com/HaleysShindig HaleysShindig

Relistening to the story, sounds like that happened years ago “I met the man who years later became my husband”. I’m hoping AI leaves that edit here and doesn’t use it later, she seems to have dealt with things in a positive way.

  • Anonymous

I really like Heejun, Reed, and Aaron, and I like several of the guys that you don’t know yet but I do.

  • Anonymous
  • getgetaway

With Chris Medina he had the backtage story of his girlfriend incapacitated as a result of a car accident. He was auditioning for the show to help with her medical bills. And that was played out to the point where she was wheeled in to meet with the judges. Very dramatic, with tears flowing and J. Lo practically having a breakdown.

Whereas P2 doesn’t have a backstage story period.

  • Kirsten

I really like Heejun, Reed, and Aaron,

    I do too.

and I like several of the guys that you don’t know yet but I do.

    Tease!

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

This guy looks older than Taylor Hicks and that’s with a full head of gray hair.  Seriously, he looks like he can be most of the contestants father.

  • Kirsten

I’m hoping AI leaves that edit here and doesn’t use it later, she seems to have dealt with things in a positive way.

I hope so too. I think that when they focus on that part of the story, they make it harder for the contestant. People hate them for the backstory and the press hound them about it (making a relapse more likely, IMO).

She does have a good voice. I hope she was just a bit nervous in the audition and that is why she oversang. She did take the time to sort out her life, so hopefully, she’s in the right place. Drug addiction is a real demon, though. Sigh.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

I’m not going to be mad about Scott Dangerfield until I see what he did Hollywood Week. For all we know he choked, he wouldn’t be the first to do it.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

He made it to the Green Mile.  So obviously he didn’t choke in Hollywood.

  • Anonymous

    Tease!

Normally I wouldn’t be this obnoxious about it haha, but I figure since everyone will find out in like 8 hours anyway it is okay.

  • Anonymous

Maybe he chocked at Green Mile. Maybe Nigel decided against rewarding a quitter.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

Well, how extraordinarily PETTY of Nigel, if that’s the case.  To waste someone’s time just to make a petty example of him.

  • Anonymous

Scott already wasted their time but getting through a certain number of rounds only to quit. Paybacks a bitch :)

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

Why not? Chris Medina made it that far last year on fumes. So did the little chubby kid. He made it on promise, but he really hadn’t been that outstanding during Hollywood Week.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

Yes, keeping your promise to the children you teach and finishing your education = HORRIBLE PERSON.

  • Anonymous

Not having the forethought to think about that before hand and impulsively quitting shows a pretty immature and stupid person in my mind. Also being sanctimonious about it in interviews and then returning to the same damn show the next year is pretty pathetic. It doesn’t matter anyway. He is gone. Hallelujah.

  • Anonymous

I also LOVE the irony about complaining about some white males making it and how they are sick of white males winning while throwing a hissy fit about your favorite white male not making it.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

I think your edging dangerously close to breaking one of MJs rules.

  • Kesia Monteith

I don’t recall Scott gloating about quitting in interviews. And someone is stupid for quitting a reality show? Really? I don’t see what is pathetic about returning to the show either. He maybe thought it was his time, and he simply miscalculated his decision.

But this is all ok. I’ve come to my senses with these shows, now, and I have calmed down. There is no point in being angry about your fave being cut, when you’ll probably forget them within the next month after the show is over, anyway. *sigh*

ETA: Alright, now…*starts to sing* “Let’s all think happy thoughts now…” LOL

I’m just going to move forward, and be excited about the next batch of spoilers.

  • OffLeash

Has it occurred to you they might not be the same people? Some of us don’t have a problem with WGWG when they’re talented.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Damien-Roberts/1284868807 Damien Roberts

Not that I necessarily will be devoted to them, but I’m very excited to see whether or not Hollie or Colton make top 24 or if they are once again cut right before.

  • Kesia Monteith

That’s the exact point I was thinking of making…but it would have come out poorly, and by getting myself banned from this blog. LOL

  • fuzzywuzzy

He already has over half a million views of his audition on youtube.  If he makes the voting rounds, I think that he’ll easily win.

  • http://twitter.com/Sassycatz Sassycatz

I’ve seen the spoilers and frankly they’re all just names to me. Unless you’re a friend or a member of the family, it’s hard to get invested about who’s in and who’s out at this stage. Later rounds, is when I begin to care.

  • Anonymous

I do not know who Adam Brock is so I’ll skip that one.

Really happy for Aaron. I remember really liking him last season and being shocked he didn’t make it. Maybe changing the last name did the trick! lol

Hallie Day seems completely blah to be IMO. What she does has been done to DEATH on Idol and I honestly don’t see her making the Top 13. Definitely fodder, despite the sob story.

I was bummed about Scott though. Scott was a standout last yr who inexplicably disappeared during Hollywood. Great voice but who knows? Maybe he screws up badly in Hollywood?

I’m also bummed about David Leathers being cut. He had a killer range & a great personality. Something Eben Frankowitz clearly doesn’t have. Oh wellz.

    10 Down! 14 to go! ^_^

  • http://twitter.com/blkeener Brittany Keener

lol such a tease, Gangy….oh wait, I know too! :p

  • Anonymous

That’s a little unfair to judge him so harshly. Most of these kids don’t even expect to pass the judges, they always seem shocked in their online interviews.

Maybe you should judge TPTB for showing his audition…he quit before they made the decision to air it…he didn’t know how popular he would be. This is the 2nd time they decided to air a good audition even though TPTB knew there was a Newsworthy reason why that contestant “disappeared” from the final roster.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/4DS2H4EB44GRR26MRZWI5MBB5Q Diane

Thanks lol. Kinda shocked JLo would have let that guy get cut.

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

Is David Leathers the “black bieber”?

with the amount of pimping without backstory that P2 received, he obviously will be on top24.

You must organize yourselves and vote for everyone but P2 (I will vote against him not because he’s wgwg but because I simply hate his name) if u don’t want him to win.

  • Kirsten

lol such a tease, Gangy….oh wait, I know too! :p

    Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

The same thing was said about Andrew Garcia in season 9.  Before they put everyone on the same twitter page, he had a lot more followers.  He had more followers on facebook, and his audition performance had more views.  But, he went out seventh, because he really only knew one song.   Haley also had more youtube views than anyone else last year, but it didn’t help her win.

Based on his first song, right now Phillip looks more like Andrew Garcia and season 10′s Casey Abrahms than the last four winners.  His voice wasn’t that great, and his inability to tailor the first song to his strengths was troubling.

  • escape

I am not at all surprised Eben Franckewitz made it.  He is 15 and fits the AI profile with the young screaming teens.  I am not at all surprised David Leathers got cut.  He is 18, but looks actually 15.

  • larc

This is a little confusing.  So it’s Adam Brock that’s in the Top 24 and not Adam Lee Decker?  Decker’s name is on the list below the videos, but Brock’s isn’t.

  • Anonymous

    It’s Adam Brock

  • http://twitter.com/blkeener Brittany Keener

Nigel…petty? You act like this is something unheard of….How many people make it to the judges thinking they actually have talent and a chance, only to be made a fool? How many times was Jessica Cunningham “strung” along? How many times were Idols “thrown under the bus” in order for someone else to stand out? This is part of the game of Idol.

If Colton gets cut, to me that’s worse than Scott getting cut. Considering they “forced” him to audition, secretly cut his sister after having him invade her audition…only to bring him right back where he left off last year. There are FOUR T40ers from last year in the running again, and so far we know of one who has made it, Aaron. Would dragging any of them along, again, only to be cut, again…be any different than Scott?

Welcome to American Idol. The land of heartbreak.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Oh, OK, thanks, I didn’t realize that.  I’m not a fan of P2 at all, and when I saw his youtube view numbers I started to be resigned to him winning.  lol

ETA: Right now, P2 has over 10X more views on youtube than anyone else. Did Garcia and Haley have that much a lead over the others in views?

ETA2: After the viewers voted for Lee Dewyze to win, I don’t view anyone’s chances logically any more. lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

Idol will jerk around anyone and everyone to make what they think is an entertaining show.  And the contestants have all signed off on allowing them to do whatever they want.  Plus, I believe that Nigel is very petty, vengeful and egotistical.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Dante/Heejun Han”

???  Does Heejun have a one-name alias now?  lol

  • larc

    It’s Adam Brock

    Too bad!  :(

  • windmills

Thanks for the spoilers! I liked Scott Dangerfield last year but I don’t remember his voice well enough to know if I care he got cut this year. I remember liking his voice but also thinking I didn’t know if it’d make for an interesting album.

I’m happy about Aaron Sanders making it, I really liked his voice last year and didn’t get why he was cut. Excited for him.

I wasn’t too crazy about Hallie’s audition but JLo’s comment about her being Blondie-ish made me reconsider her audition and think she has potential with different songs.

I don’t ‘get’ what would make Adam Brock so special from those videos mikaylaislove posted. Solid voice but?

I’m hoping there’s some people in the t24 with auditions that make more of an impression.

  • Anonymous

We are only two audition episodes in though too. I think all that means is that Phillip is way more popular then Hallie, the other pimp spot person. I do think Andrew had close to that many more views than everyone too though.

  • Anonymous

No, the show registered hi as Dante Han and Heejun Han, but I bet he will go by Heejun.

  • dishwalla

AI has never been about finding the best singer – or the best singer usually does not win.

Phillip Phillips?  I can see him advancing in the competition.  Whether he will win is another matter.  But he has a look and stage presence that I can see the predominantly young teen age girls and middle age women voting audience falling for.  He’s from the South, works with his Dad. Mom’s a fan of the show. He has that All-American boy next door image. He has a passion for music, is not a terrible singer.

And the reality is that he is better looking than Andrew Garcia and Casey Abrams.

Just calling it like it is.

  • larc

Plus, I believe that Nigel is very petty, vengeful and egotistical.

Really?  Sounds like a description of Simon.  ;)

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

It takes at least 2 or 3 weeks for an idol audition without compelling backstory to reach 500.000 and P2 easily got it. Hell, 500.000 in 4 days? Even live performances can’t have it in 4 days. And it wasn’t, in any perspective, a phenomenal audition.

  • Kirsten

If Colton gets cut, to me that’s worse than Scott getting cut.

If? If? But you know! Argh!!!!

Yes, it is much worse if Colton gets cut for the reasons you listed. I will be quite vexed if they yank him around like that.

Sure, they would not have known what would happen at the auditions (well, they probably did - the final 24 is decided quite early despite all the theatre), they didn’t have to make us a witness to their shennigans. I think they will annoy a great many people if they cut Colton at top 42 again. But, sometimes, that’s good for press. But sometimes, they go too far.

But you mentioned it…so is that a clue? Or is this a misdirection to get us all excited before it’s announced he’s staying? Do they know that we know that they know that we know?

I say we just tickle you until you tell us.

  • http://twitter.com/blkeener Brittany Keener

I’m actually really excited for Aaron. He barely got an airtime last season that he never made an impression me. Watching some of his vids online, I’m rather impressed. His RITD cover is good…and I hate RITD covers. So yeah for him!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1840696400 Christine Lane Tina

how does everyone feel about deandre brackensick does anyone know if he was cut i hope not!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1840696400 Christine Lane Tina

my favorite is and will always be deandre brackensick. he to me is the perfect idol he has a big heart and i just think he is great, but i think  leandro is right it is who the fans fall for, i hope everyone sees the greatness in deandre and gets behind him. we will have to see lol. by the way i love this sight and all the people who comment everyone has such great things to say even the most honest comments thanks for all the great information.

  • shell29

I’ll be very surprised if they cut Colton.  With the way they “begged” him to audition I just can’t see them doing all of that only to cut him, but I’ve been wrong before so who knows?  Not surprised about David…as I said in another thread I think he auditioned for the wrong show.  Even if he’d made Top 24 he would have been sent packing early in the semis anyway.  The current Idol voting demo would never vote for him no matter how talented he might be.

I’m happy to see that Shannon made it.  I really enjoyed her audition.  I wish we could just blow through these audition episodes.  I’m over them-I’m ready to get to Hollywood!

  • http://twitter.com/blkeener Brittany Keener

I do not necessarily know Colton’s fate. We do not have a full list…so I may know it….or I may not know it. You will just have to wait and see. :p

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

Well they would have edited the Colton episode before knowing who made the cut, so anything is possible. I’m actually more afraid of him being a runaway train than Phillip Phillips. Heh.

At this stage of the game I don’t think it matters who is popular. Let’s see who has a fanbase after all the auditon shows and Hollywood Week airs. Even then, a fanbase will likely get you a leg up into the Top 12 but can’t stop you from imploding after that.

  • Kesia Monteith

“After the viewers voted for Lee Dewyze to win, I don’t view anyone’s chances logically any more. lol”

    Ha, me neither.

  • Anonymous

I agree that if Colton gets cut again that I’ll be mad. He’s not even in my top 5 so far. But they “forced” him to audition. Even if it was staged, to put him through getting cut again before the top 24 is a blow to most people.

  • Kirsten

Well they would have edited the Colton episode before knowing who made the cut, so anything is possible.

Rubbish! I think they cast the top 24 fairly early and it would take a miracle or disaster to get them to change their minds. I don’t think it really mattered what people sang for their lives.  The decisions were made weeks ago. The rest is just window dressing and a chance to show some more songs (and create some more angst).

I don’t actually like Colton. I just want to know if he’s in our out. Argh!!!!

  • Kirsten

…so I may know it….or I may not know it. You will just have to wait and see. :p

    Argh!!!!!!

  • fuzzywuzzy

Yeah, I figured that it was pretty fast to reach half a million in 4 days.  Right now, he’s looking like a potential favorite.

  • Anonymous

It looks like this season wont have any ethnic diversity yet again (except for a couple)…which is unfortunate.  I have yet to see any promising black females audition…Aaron is a repeat from last season..david leathers got cut…and it seems like any good minority singers never make it to top 24 and the ones that do are just put there to meet a quota or something…im just confused

  • OffLeash

DeAndre is also my favorite. Perfect Idol winner IMO. Beautiful voice, drop dead gorgeous, and very endearing. So chances are he’ll get cut lol.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

LMAO! OK, I acknowledge that grassy knoll dwellers will take issue with that statement. :)

  • Anonymous

Yea i honestly think he will win…he’s like the perfect guy to get the teen and tha frau vote

  • Anonymous

In my opinion, the idea that they “forced” Colton to audition is a little silly. He easily could have refused. It’s a simple little word — N-O.
Personally I thought his sister’s audition was better than his. So if he gets cut, too bad.

  • Anonymous

I agree his sister was better than him. I’m just saying whether he had no intention of auditioning or not it would be depressing for anybody to get cut 2 years in a row when you’re that close to the live shows.

I’m not suggesting he should be put in for sympathy or out of an obligation. He should be put in based on talent & if he did well just like everyone else.

  • Anonymous

I am pretty sure there are people who have made it to Hollywood Week more than once, only to get cut before the semifinals. The only difference is that they weren’t begged by the judges on national tv to audition.

It happens. It would be too bad, but he knew when he agreed to audition that he could get cut again. That’s the risk he decided to take.

  • shell29

We only know 10 of the 24 so far (well, those of us who aren’t privy to the spoilers and are waiting patiently for a few more crumbs).  14 names to go, and while the girls are looking extremely “blonde” so far, I’m not ready to write off this season yet when it comes to diversity.  There’s Heejun and Aaron, I doubt those will be the only minority semifinalists we’ll see.

  • Anonymous

I don’t think that YouTube views don’t really mean that much in terms of predicting who will win. For example, Chris Rene had way more YT views than any other XFactor contestant. He didn’t win. Andrew Garcia had way more YT views than any other S9 contestant. He didn’t win. Adam had way more YT views than any S8 contestant. He didn’t win.

Philip Phillips is a mashed up version of the previous 4 winners. Just based on his audition, I’d put him behind all 4 of those winners in terms of actual singing ability. He appears to be a good guitarist and his arrangements of the songs were good — but they weren’t particularly unique. David C, Kris and Lee all did similar rearrangements on their seasons.

Him being similar to the four previous winners probably works in his favor, but I wouldn’t had him the title quite yet. :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree.  P2 may be the most popular among the tween/teens as well.  I’m surprised that Eben’s audition doesn’t have more views (~60,000) considering that Idol seems to be casting him to appeal to the Bieber demographic.  I’m wondering whether the strong presence of his mom in his video intro package was a negative factor?  lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

All true, but I was predicting him to win IF he made it to the voting rounds.  But you’re right, it’s still very early.  I’m probably thinking that he’s a favorite because I also think that he’s “a mashed up version of the previous 4 winners”.  lol Also, the image that they presented in his video intro is exactly the kind that appeals to the Idol voters.

  • justshootme

I’m happy Hallie Day made it, she’s the only one whose audition I’ve really liked so far, so yay!

Also interested in Jessica Sanchez, I liked her Love On Top utube vid. Does anyone know what city she auditioned in?

San Diego, so she will probably be shown tonight.

I’m slightly disappointed about Scott Dangerfield being cut but as was said earlier, I think it would be good to see how he did in HW because maybe the judges had good reason to cut him.  Who knows?

RE: David Leathers.   I was really impressed by him in the previews but after we saw his audition and saw he had a bit of an ego about the contest where both him and Scotty were both competing and we got the real story from Scotty (via twitter) what really happened, it kind of turned me off of this kid.  From this supposed confirmed list we have so far, you can easily separate the fodder from the rest.

I wasn’t crazy about Philip Phillips and especially Reed Grimm considering the fact he auditioned with the Family Matters theme and not something more hip or current.

Thanks for all of the updates mj!

Ratings are way down so far this season. I’m not sure what would motivate the producers to cut someone (Phillip) who already has a lot of support and buzz (at least in the Idol press). I’m pretty sure he’ll be in the top 24.
Of course, TPTB would love to have a girl or a non WGWG singer win for a change, but not at the expense of having a large chunk of their audience lose interest in the show because there was no one who suited their musical taste.
I hope Colton and Deandre both make the show. It would look incredibly jerky to cut Colton after the way they seemingly persuaded him to audition, but Nigel is involved-he never seems to mind acting like a jerk.
I really liked Lauren Mink’s audition. The girls who are on the spoiler list so far-I’ll have to hear more from them before I chose a favorite.

So far we have 5 girls out of 12 and out of those 5, we have a Baylie, Haley, and Hallie…and they’re all blonde?? That’s gonna be interesting keeping those girls straight. *lol*

    I thought all 5 were blonde…

He is nothing like Scotty other besides the plaid shirt. But even Adam Lambert wears a plaid shirt.

We are only two episodes in and haven’t seen everybody yet.

I did a Google search and he actually has gotten very positive reviews for his audition. And apparently, he was a Top Tweet on Wed night. So, yeah. I don’t see why TPTB would cut him.

Yes, forget the plaid shirt. The past winner that P^2 is most reminiscent of as Taylor Hicks. We all saw how well that turned out.

Nigel shouldn’t care if P^2′s fans self immolate (actually, he might think that’s good press). He needs to keep P^2 off the show if he wants a remotely credible winner. All those youtube views should serve as a warning not encouragement. Simon, with all his powers of pimping, was barely able to stop Josh from winning. There is no way they can market Phillip. Triple A is their only chance and they won’t touch an Idol with a barge pole even while wearing three layers of anti-radiation suits and 100% rebreather mask.

The mid-era seasons always feature polarizing contestants that one contigent of the fan base goes gaga over and the rest don’t get (or actively despise). So, perhaps P^2 is inevitable. He certainly is polarizing.

  • justshootme

I agree with you re P2. And yet it seems TPTB have put through Reed Grimm, who to me faces the same sitch (highly questionable marketability).

Wait a minute – according to the Three Year Pattern, this isn’t the season for the show to have a bad year – that’s Season 12.

Unless they break precedent, like they broke the Curse of Christy Lee Cook. (I think) *snerk*

I think Reed can be run over by a bus. P^2 seems more wiley and he’s already getting the rabid fanbase that will run interference for him.

Reed may not be marketable, but I don’t think he is threatening to win. He can add a little diversity to the season like Paul did last year.

Perhaps I would be more charitable towards P^2 if I liked him. :-P

Scarily, this is the season of rabid fan bases, intense fan wars and winners that are outsold.

I fear any unmarketable contestant who is killing in the youtube views and internet polls. LOL.

  • mchcat

Did Lauren  Mink make it through – I liked her

  • mchcat

That is interesting – we will have to wait I guess to see if this comes to pass – so far I haven’t found anyone to support but as someone said it is early yet

  • fuzzywuzzy

Yep.  That’s the way I see it too.

IA–I think they cast the top 24 early on. They can edit Hollywood wk etc to suit their purposes. Some people you just know are in–last year Scottie, Lauren Casey and a few others were obviously gonna be in top 24 just from watching their first audition. I also think the producers look at you tubes and other stuff to make their decisions. I don’t think they just go strictly on auditions.

Incipit: Unless they break precedent, like they broke the Curse of Christy Lee Cook. (I think) *snerk*

I believe Scotty fulfilled the curse/prophecy of Kristy Lee Cook (that’s a link to Kirsten’s awesome superstitions post here). There’s KRIS, scotTY, LEE, & COOK, plus Scotty’s middle name is Cooke.

Kristy Lee Cook is supposed to release a new single and start a new radio tour to promote it in April/May this year. I don’t know if that means anything for this year as far as her influence over AI but maybe AI should allow her to perform on the show, just in case. Or maybe AI should run far, far away from her. I don’t know!!

Kirsten: Scarily, this is the season of rabid fan bases, intense fan wars and winners that are outsold.

    Now I’m scared.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

LOL! Well, sometimes the marketability, polarizing nature and crazy intense fanbase comes together in one person, a la Lambert. Let us pray for a repeat of that this year. Keep hope alive! Another contender to the throne may emerge!

I will now chant “Yes Adam, No Hicks “into my voodoo doll tonight for good measure. LMAO!

No matter what happens it is sure to be bloody around here. Heh.

  • Christopher Auyeung

    EFF MEEEE. I don’t even care anymore. Scotttttt :( :( :(

  • ronnie

They always feature one contestant heavily they know they are going to cut so when the cut shows comes on, people will be shocked about it and talk about it- Chris Medina was last year- so many others- Josiah, Head, etc.,

  • Anonymous

Scott cut??? There better be some dang twist that happens to propel him back in. SMH in disbelief!

  • Anonymous

    WOOHOO! Aaron made it!!!!

  • Incipit

(that’s a link to Kirsten’s awesome superstitions post here)

windmills, I had forgotten how diverting that post was – the comments appear to be lost in the mist of Disqus – but it still amuses.

So the Majority Gender Top 3 took a hit in the accuracy department last year – but the Double Letters theory is still worth keeping an eye on, don’t you think?*wink*

    (Disclaimer – I’m not “Super”stitious – just a little bit ‘stitious’. Heh.)

Not happy the way things are going and it hasn’t even started yet. Unless Nigel pulls a Simon and goes knocking on Scott’s door and yanks him away from his students or brings back NGAB and casts Crash County as one of the bands, booo. If Colton doesn’t make it, then he needs to get a band too – he would be an awesome front man. UGHHHHHH!

no kidding but thanks offleash we will stick together as deandre fans lol lets hope they dont do something stupid and cut him i will be really mad!!!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/magnoliafan82 Dylan

how accurate is this cuz if its right i’m pissed they cut Scott Dangerfield

  • Anonymous

Im sad that Travis Orlando didn’t make it….he’s got lika a bruno mars/jason mraz type of thing going on that could do well on idol…id be pissed if i was him…they gave him a whole video package of his sob story…twice!! if they werent goin to put him in the live shows then they shouldnt have given him so much air time…they should’ve just kinda grazed over him like they did to jason castro’s brother the second time he auditioned

    Worst news to date!

    Not Scott!!!

I am rooting for him too. Was so disappointed when he was barely shown and then cut early last year. Hopefully this year he can go deep.

  • OffLeash

LOL. Brace yourself. The spoiler gods have sworn they’d reveal all the top 24…. minus 3. Let’s hope DeAndre won’t be in the “minus 3″ category! ;)

  • Anonymous

DeAndre Brackensick has made the top 24. Find the rest of the spoilers at http://theidolpad.blogspot.com/

  • OffLeash

Woohoo! DeAndre finally made the top 24! :D

  • Kesia Monteith

    Yeah DeAndre!

  • geekygirl

And it’s 5 blondes and counting!

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

I would like that Jane Carrey made it through. It would fcking funny see Jim Carrey in the audience every single week. At least something would funny this season.
