I love, love, love that picture. All of the idols together. A bunch of talented, beautiful people.

  • hoodathunk

I agree abbysee, I love that picture too. What a beautiful cross-section of America is represented there. As I have been watching the tears and drama of the current season, it occurs to me that I never saw any of those seven winners conduct themselves that way. They were solid as a rock. The voters are always very good on sensing that quality and vote accordingly.
Of these seven, I wasn’t always pulling for the eventual winner, and in most seasons there were people that I thought had a better voice (technically) than the winner. But as we know, technically good voices are a dime a dozen. You have to go beyond that to become an American Idol. Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie, Taylor, Jordin, and David all possessed a special star quality that set them above the rest, and for lack of a better word, I would call it class.

Sorry for the sentimental speech, but I’m proud of all of them.

I haven’t been that big of a Carrie fan, but I love the Carrie/David duet! Their voices are great together and Carrie seems like she has more personality on stage than in the past.

Love the pic and video of all the Idol winners.

It is so nice to see them actually acknowledge Taylor as even existing.

  • ohnonotagain

They sound great together, remember his producer said David could sing harmony with anyone. I didn’t hear that little intro you are talking about.

Sorry for the sentimental speech, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m proud of all of them.

Well, I liked to read it.

I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t hear that little intro you are talking about.

Ryan introducing David is in the Light On video and David introducing Carrie is in the AAG video.

I’ve seen a few people ask about the band backing Carrie on All American Girl and the duet. They’re all part of Carrie’s touring band. From left to right they are: Chad Jeffers (dobro), Mark Childers (bass guitar), Shawn Tubbs (guitar), and Ed Eason (guitar). All great guys and very talented.

    Love the videos!

Archie was on it first with his cousin, I think? I remember seein a pic of her with his family..

and then the second roller coaster was of Carrie, David, Syesha, etc.

Sorry for the sentimental speech, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m proud of all of them.

Aw, I think it was a nice little speech :)

And, totally true that a competition like this could never be based on technical skill alone. Most Americans aren’t well versed in ranges and all that other stuff. They just know what they like.

In this competition, you have to appeal to people on so many more levels. I agree that the viewing audience likes the people they perceive to have good character and I don’t think they’re fond of drama queens. It takes a lot more than carrying a tune to appeal to a tv audience. That’s why this show will never be decided on vocal ability alone.

Even though not all of these people were my choices their season, I do think they all have extremely strong voices in their respective styles. They’re all loaded with talent. I don’t think you run into too many people in life who have the level of talent these people have.

How fun to see all of these people on stage together. Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, and David Cook were all my picks for their season. I guess four out of seven isn’t too bad. I also liked Bo Bice and, of course, Chris Daughtry. I wonder why he wasn’t there. Maybe there was a conflict with his tour schedule.

Wow, that’s pretty good! I didn’t really start watching until ai3 but on my picks I’m 0/5. I have a feeling if I’d been watching the first season, Kelly would have definitely been my pick. Nice pic of them all together…. really nice.

  • bean99

That was the first time I saw the Carrie/David duet. It was pretty good and was funny when they forgot the line.

  • oceana

That’s an interesting idea, to see how many we got right. My favorites won three times – Kelly, Taylor, and David Cook. Carrie and Fantasia weren’t my favorites but I figured they would win.

Looking back, I was wrong about some of them. I didn’t appreciate Jennifer Hudson, Carrie, or Daughtry on the show, and I was a fan of Constantine, hard to believe it now. It’s a different experience watching them on a competitive reality show and who they turn out to be later in real life.

Like anyone, their characters and talent reveal themselves over time, and might not have hit all of us over the head at first, but opinions change. Some of the ones I liked are still doing well and others I’ve come to respect and admire.

  • abbysee

Most of my early picks won. Kelly, Ruben, and Fantasia. I picked them pretty much out of the box. Bo was my favorite in season 4. Taylor I picked after his audition, and after that I crapped out, lol. My favorite has always been first or second with the exclustion of season six as Melinda was my favorite and placed third. There are no mistakes however and Carrie, Jordin and David have proven themselves more than capable. And they seem to be very nice folk, for all of their shenanighans tptb must know something, or maybe it’s us viewers. I know it’s a cheesy show, but their representatives/winners really aren’t cheesy at all.

I hope this becomes a yearly event, all of the idols together its great advertising.

Damn! I love David Cook and his vocals for Light On

manà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦i so did not think carrie was that great on the show, and i was pretty upset when she won. and she has TOTALLY proved me wrong. she has improved so much. awesome.

Yes, I think Simon is good at spotting POTENTIAL very well. She’s certainly proven a lot of people wrong.

Wow, thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s pretty good! I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t really start watching until ai3 but on my picks Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m 0/5. I have a feeling if Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d been watching the first season, Kelly would have definitely been my pick. Nice pic of them all togetherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. really nice.

I started watching in Season 2 and was disappointed when my picks for seasons 2 and 3 were instead the runners up. Then finally, in season 4, my pick won and season 5, it was the runner up AGAIN. Season 6 my pick finished 3rd. Last season was the first season ever where I was pleased with BOTH of the Top 2 and would’ve been happy either way, though I was probably drawn a bit more to Archie most of the time. So on the whole, I’d say I have a pretty good penchant for picking the runners up – LOL! I am pretty sure though too that if I had watched Season 1, Kelly would’ve been my pick to win.

I may not be a fan of Ruben, Fantasia, or Taylor, but seeing all seven winners together is pretty cool and they are all very talented indeed.
