Erika Van Pelt could barely contain her excitement before her hometown Idol Live concert with her fellow Top 10 in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday. She had over 300 friends and family members in the audience that night! And of course, she sang beautifully.

In my exclusive interview with Erika, she talked about coming back home, her plans once the tour wraps up and making an album!

Watch the interview below.

great interview!!! gotta love EVP. i really hope things work out for her. i see her going in a similar route as Didi Benami- also 10th place. she’s doing some idol stuff for THR, and it took a little longer but she released a single! Erika is such an awesome person. she deserves success.

I like how she has a realistic outlook.

Thanks MJ-Loved the interview. EVP has such a full textured sound–just a very good singer! I wish her success. I could def see her doing some Broadway work along with recording. She could fill the theater will that voice of hers!

Cool interview!  Erika is a great singer with a mature sound and style.  Best of luck to her!

Erika the gal who slipped thru the cracks – a real tragedy.  She never got the pre-show promotion and support she deserved. Incredibly talented.  I wish some entertainment producer would snatch her up – she could be a star.

I was just about to say the same thing. EVP’s voice would be perfect for theater – it has such power and muscle. I think she’ll find some success in music one way or another, and I wish her all the best.

300?!  I don’t think I have nearly that many friends/family members!  LOL.  Good for her, though, that must have been really exciting!

Hmm. I’m not too sure what you’re talking about? Erika was in the promos for  AI before the season began. One of the first spoiled contestants for S11 and her audition was shown. As in her Hollywood week, Vegas, etc. Talented though for sure.

All that I can say – I AM SO GLAD that the AI voters votes her to the Top 10.  It would have been a travesty if this season tour did not include her.

It won’t be easy, but I think Erika will find a way to make a living through music, even if it is not a conventional route.

I noticed a couple of things when I saw the AI Season 11 tour in Portland, OR.  First, the two most memorable songs of the night (IMHO) were Erika’s song “Glitter,” and Josh’s song “Man’s World.”  For someone who placed 10th, I thought Erika optimized what she was able to do with one song.  Second, (like DeAndre), Erika sang backup on a lot of the songs.  But what I noticed was that Erika looked utterly comfortable and completely professional on stage, and she looked liked she was having a blast.  I was amazed that she was able to command my attention even when she was in the background.  Because she looked like she was having so much fun, I felt like I was having fun, too.
