DEBUT ALBUM TO BE EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY AWARD WINNING WRITER/PRODUCER SAVAN KOTECHA & WILL FEATURE COLLABORATIONS WITH INDUSTRY HITMAKERS

(January 9, 2013- New York, NY) The X Factor’s So-cal break out band Emblem3 have signed a recording deal with Syco Music and Columbia Records to release their debut album in 2013.

Brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg (19 &16) and lifelong friend Drew Chadwick (20) who make up Emblem3 are already in the studio at work on their debut album which is being executive produced by award winning songwriter and producer Savan Kotecha (Maroon 5, Usher, One Direction). The album will be the first release through “Mr Kanani,’ Savan Kotecha’s imprint on Syco Music.

Emblem3’s debut album will also see the band collaborating with some of the industry’s biggest hit makers including Benji and Joel Madden (Good Charlotte), Jack Antonoff (fun.), Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), Peter Svensson (The Cardigans), John Feldman (Gold Finger), and Kool Kojak (Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj).

Renowned songwriter, producer and talent coach Savan Kotecha will be executive producing the album and said “I was so impressed by the talent and energy of the Emblem3 boys that I had to work with them. I’m looking forward to helping them fulfill their creative vision and working with the amazing Syco and Columbia team who, in my opinion, are the best in the business!”

Emblem 3’s Westley Stromberg said “With our new teammates at Columbia and Syco and along with Savan, I hope we can not only produce some empowering tunes, but also impact other people in a positive way and maybe help brighten things up a bit. Music is all we`ve ever wanted to do – and this is what we love to do.” Stromberg added, “Simon Cowell was an excellent mentor and we were proud to have him as ours. We hope to keep a good relationship alive with him not only as business partners but as friends.”

Syco Music’s Simon Cowell who was also Emblem3’s mentor during The X Factor said “Wesley, Drew and Keaton are complete stars. They have a great attitude, are fun and genuinely love music. They deserve this and I’m really pleased we are continuing working together”

Emblem3, from Huntington Beach, CA are best known for their original performances on The X Factor on Fox in 2012 where the trio shunned the ‘boyband’ tag and impressed audiences of millions with their energy-filled unique performances, adding their own twist of alternative rock/pop with mix of hip-hop and reggae each week.

Emblem3 first auditioned for The X Factor with their own original song ‘Sunset Blvd’ winning over judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and LA Reid and instantly garnering a wide international fan-base which continued to grow throughout the 2012 series and since, garnering them more than 15 million YouTube views.

Wesley, Keaton, and Drew grew up together in Sequim, WA, where they all turned to music at an early age becoming multi-instrumentalists and forming the band Emblem3. Now all living in Huntington Beach, they moved to California to pursue their dreams and be closer to the industry and to indulge their passion for surfing, skating and snowboarding.

The band performed at landmark venues such as the Roxy, the Whisky A Go Go, the House of Blues and the Hard Rock Café, and took the top prize at Rock N’ Road’s Orange County battle of the bands in 2011.

Guesses 5th Harmony would trade in their bronze medal for a record deal and shine to producers and songwriters…. Keep believing your weekly song… can anything happen??

They didn’t delivered since One Day, but I dont hate them, and I think their original songs before X Factor are  quite good.

Well, it looks like Simon took things into his own hands.

No LA Reid in sight. I think Simon wasn’t happy with LA Reid’s efforts with season 1 finalists and decided to do things his own way. That’s why LA Reid is leaving the show. There is no point in having LA Reid on the panel if he doesn’t get to sign anyone.

I would do a kinda inverse argument. LA Reid left the show and doesn’t want to sign anyone because he thinks anyone from this show will get nothiung. And, at least until now, I think he might be right.

Did they win X-Factor?  I’ve kinda forgotten already, LOL.

I noticed that the press release doesn’t seem to say how they placed, so I guess not.

Yippie!  I love them so much! Can’t wait to get new music from these guys. So happy for Emblem 3. They were definitely my favs during the whole show next to Jennel but they screwed up on her.

    I’m happy!

If that were the case, Taylor Hicks would be a superstar right now. Same with many other Idol winners and finalists.

Me too! Finally it happened. I been waiting for this good news from Emblem3. I have a ituneslibrary full of their music and this latest one will be added to it. Thank you Simon. Love ya!

Taylor took his enormous fanbase from Idol and headlined his own  mega-successful 6 month tour directly after idol, which is someone no one from X-Factor or The Voice could possibly do with any success now. Not even close. So yea, fan bases do matter enormously coming off of a show like that.  He might not be a superstar amongst the radio crowd, but 7 years away from his win, he’s headlining his own show and is the only Idol who has captured a years residency in Vegas in a major hotel.  There are other winners from Idol who, again, may not be ripping up the radio charts, but are doing well in their chosen field and stringing their fanbase along for the ride many years after their win - be it acting, singing, or Broadway.

    “BREAKOUT BAND” ??????????????????

  • irockhard

XF UK’s winners have been just as hit and miss as American Idol’s IMO.

I’ve seen people bring up this Taylor Hicks thing in Vegas.  My questions would be, have you seen him there?  I was in Vegas and its a glorified bar.  It’s not like this guy is doing Garth Brooks at the Wynn or Celine and Shania level shows.  I’m sure it’s a fantastic gig for Taylor in that it gives him a steady income but people aren’t flocking to his show because its “Taylor Hicks”.  It’s located right off the casino floor.  In fact you can listen in from the floor.  He’s a lounge act.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    “He’s a lounge act.”

Well, to be fair, Taylor is performing in the “Indigo Lounge”.

  • curly_yenta

It’s not a lounge anymore – at least not for Taylor. It’s an enclosed small venue that will cost folks between $40-$70 a ticket, but call it any way you see it.  His contract was extended thru 2013 partly due to that fanbase he established on Idol. Many folks that pay for the show were Idol fans – not necessarily his, so it does matter. I’m pretty sure anyone from Idol, X_Factor or the Voice would sign a years contract for a headlining spot there on a dime.  Come to think of it though, I can’t see anyone outside of the top selling Idols that could make the gig worthwhile to PTB.  If there was a demand for them, they’d be all over the Strip. But they’re not.

They’re from Huntington Beach? I was born and raised there! Marina High School, class of 19XX. Gotta surf, dude!

I think there was a lot of rivalry (both ways) between LA and Simon, and LA figured that with Simon in charge, he would never get to coach the most marketable contestants. I think a lot of people forget that LA was the only coach to do anything significant for most of his finalists last season (he signed Marcus, Chris Rene and Astro), which really goes against the theory that he wasn’t interested in signing anyone. With LA’s position as CEO of Epic record and his great track record of discovering talent, it just seemed like a dick move for Simon to give him the only team he wasn’t interested in signing. In the end the contestants are the ones who really suffered, not LA.

I really disliked Emblem3, but thanks to Simon’s unique talent for promoting crap, they’ll probably dominate the charts for a year or two, then hopefully disappear as quickly as they came.

    Yes!

  • fuzzywuzzy

“Taylor took his enormous fanbase from Idol and headlined his own  mega-successful 6 month tour directly after idol,”

Well, if the 20 Billboard boxscores of concerts on Taylor’s tour are representative, then his tour was modestly successful, but hardly reflected an “enormous” fanbase. Boxscores ranged from 482-2,425, with an average attendance of about 1,300 per show.

  • MV007

I’m not trying to put Taylor down.  I’m just saying when someone says something like “headlining in vegas” then certain perceptions come to mind.  I said it was a fantastic gig for Taylor but I also think it should be put in its proper perspective.  The Jabowokeez are “headlining” in vegas.  I have no idea what tickets cost for Taylor’s show but I’m just saying what I saw as recently as September and it wasn’t “enclosed” then unless you have a loose definition of enclosed.

But enough about Taylor Hicks, I think Emblem 3 has a pretty good lineup of collaborators listed here and I guess Simon wasn’t joking when he said they would get these people out there faster then they did last season.

I’m really hoping 5th Harmony has something official soon.  Thats the act I want to hear from.

  • curly_yenta

Next time you’re in Vegas, get a ticket to Taylor’s show ….. I think you’ll agree with most everyone else who has seen it - it’s a show not to be missed ;)

I have no idea who Emplem 3 is or 5th Harmony.

  • kmd23

Good deal for E3. They are better off with Columbia as a label then with Epic. I can see them opening for their label mates 1D now.

  • merkureye

Happy for the boys.  They have loads of talent and I predict they will have significant success.  The blogs have tried to paint them as asshats but big deal.  These guys existed before XF as a band, they have great songs, and are ready to go right out of the gate.  The show didn’t showcase their talent (many have already mentioned their original tunes. . .they are hit-worthy and radio friendly) but that’s history.

I found it funny how some posters bitch about Drew’s singing like he was some worthless pretender with the band.  That’s crazy.  His contribution is as a leader, a gifted songwriter, and an accomplished musician.  His flow is pretty badass too.

The guys revealed on Young Hollywood that after their elimination on XF, they were taken to the mansion to get their things and were checked into a hotel where they had a meeting (by inference since they were not free to discuss) with label representitives about a record deal.  Pretty cool.

SWEEET now lets just hope that their album is like their originals they already have up. Im slightly addicted to the sound.

  • http://twitter.com/BazzleFjsm Bazzle

O shiieeet. Ryan Tedder is one of the songwriter collabs. I have high anticipation for that. Ryan Tedder’s songs turn out to be a smash.

  • Times_Red

Have you heard of Times Red, X-factor boys’ band? They are back with the new EP “Just No Good For Me” and amazing songs that reminds Emblem 3 a lot! Be sure to follow guys on Twitter @Times_Red and listen to their songs. You can always download their EP.
