Happy Idol day everyone!

American Idol Season 9 premiers tonight, with a 2 hour premier featuring the Boston Auditions and guest judge Victoria Beckham.   Tomorrow night, it’s the Atlanta auditions, featuring Mary J. Blige.   Check out the full schedule HERE.

Ellen Degeneres broke Simon Cowell’s big news to the studio audience of her talk show yesterday afternoon.   “I’m going to have to be the mean one now, ” she told them.

Ellen also previewed a couple of auditions from tonight’s show.

By the way, that first gal in the preview? The good singer? She’s Ashley Makailah, an inner-city kid who got a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. There’s more on Ashley right HERE.

    My fantasy for the season is that after the audition phase, they allow one person to sing a full 3 minute version of the song to open the show. Cut to commercial. Come back and introduce the judges and let them judge the contestant.

    Fantasies are lovely, aren’t they? Never gonna happen but we can still dream…

You guys probably know me from always posting on the Adam threads but I actually got really excited about Ashley Makailah when I read about her a few weeks back and heard some of her youtube recordings.
