Elise Testone – Listen to Her NEW Song! (AUDIO)

Elise Testone’s sister, Jenna lives in Rhode Island, which is what brought her to Boston over the weekend to participate in The Boston Brain Tumor walk.

While she was in New England, she dropped by Lite Rock 105 in Providence, RI, to preview a NEW SONG and to chat with djs Jones & Heather.

The song is so new, a final name has not been chosen yet. Listen to Elise Testone’s new song “Under Attack” or “I Will Not Break”

What do you think? I like it. Elise’s phrasing and technique are right on as always

Ooooh, Elise sounds lovely on this. I’m usually not a fan of runs but she brings this sort of Middle Eastern influenced flair to her runs that make them sound so interesting and meaningful! They elevate the rest of the song IMO.

amazing song, just like every original i’ve heard so far. i think the album should be a combination of these acoustic blues tracks that she writes so well, and high energy rock songs that i suspect someone will need to write for her. can’t wait for more!

Fantastic.  I’m still bitter about the fact that she only came in 6th.  I need an album from her immediately.

Oh this makes me a happy girl.  Elise is so good.  Love the tone of her voice and the raspy edge.

    nice song!

This is not meant to be pointed at you so much as the sentiment, but I never really get the “only” argument.  Elise came in only 6th out of like the thousands upons thousands who auditioned.  Only 6th got Elise pretty much the same exposure as 3rd or 4th would have gotten her, so I don’t really see any downside to her finishing where she did.

Wow!  Nice!  What a gorgeous voice.  (I listen to RI radio and never hear anyone!)

I thought about that after I posted it, and that’s all definitely true.  I just really wanted her to win or at least make the finals, because I think she was consistently performing at that level.

I understand.  Most of us probably want our favorites to make the finals and this season in particular it was hard for me because I think most of them were amazingly talented in different ways.  But I tend to think that finishing in the Top 10 is a pretty great accomplishment in general.  Though for someone like Elise, I’m not sure she would have been all that happy having to rush a record out by November, like Phil and Jessica have to do (even though Jessica’s release date hasn’t been announced yet).  Elise just strikes me as someone who will want to take her time and do it her own way, even if it means going it independently.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Very nice! I agree with the Middle Eastern influence on the runs that are cool. I wasn’t a fan of Elise’s on the show, but I like this song and performance very much.

she has a few more songs as good as this one or even better! if you want, look for Lucky Day, Can’t Get Enough and Still We Try. she never did anything like this on the show.

I really like that song.  Will definitely be checking out her music when she releases it.

  • justmefornow

She needs to add more than a bridge to that song, it’s hookless and boring.
I click on these links actually hoping to find at last what others see/hear in her.
    I still don’t get it.
But good luck to her anyway.

“she never did anything like this on the show. ”

I know! I’m very pleasantly surprised by this song and if this is Elise’s future musical direction, I can easily see myself buying her music.

Elise did win Idol, she won by being in the top 10 !  She is amazingly talented and I know the elites are looking very forward to anything she comes out with.  This is just a teaser ;)   Keep on Rockin Elise !!! xoxo

Elise sounds great but this song is just ok for me. It lacks a strong hook.

But I like Elise and wish her much luck.

  • songsungblue

Weird.  I liked it midway, and then her tone and the lack of melody started to bother me, somehow. I like her soft and melodic.

I really believe that Elise will find her audience.  She’s got chops, even if she’s  not my favorite.

  • durbesque

Assuming Elise wrote this…  The curlicues are maddening.  Setting words to music should enhance their meaning and effectiveness.  Based on this song only, she does not have that gift.

  • DB987

I liked this Else has an interesting voice and as Windmill points out the runs are very unique.

This comes off as a folk song, and I don’t think she’s a folk singer.

Elise is underrated. I love her and this song is amazing.

    no me gusta.

    QUEEN ELISE. End of story.

I totally agree. Still we try is really nice and she has recorded a couple of songs with Justin Smith that are really good too!

  • merkureye

I really like Elise but it seems like she is writing songs from a vocalists perspective (ie making sure she gets those runs).  I would prefer that she justs sings and rests in the song.  Randy was correct when he told Elise when she sang One And Only that she doesn’t have to give us all of her vocal repetoire all at once.  She needs to show restraint and subtlety.  She has a beautiful tone.  I don’t need all the runs in every song.

Also, not much melody here in this song.  Elise has made statements that she realized that she tended to write kinda depressing low key songs and she was going to try to stay upbeat in her writing.  Well, she didn’t take her own advice here.  If she wants to write slower songs, she needs a hook and a nice melody.  Two songs that represent the type of song Elise should be writing are Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry and David Guetta’s Titanium.  Both are subtle, have great melody, have a hook, and give the opportunity for a vocalist to just “sit” in the song and let the listeners enjoy the tone.

Love you Elise but this song is not a hit.  Please do not release an album of these type of songs.  You are competing in the marketplace now and there is not much demand for this type of song IMO.  Just get great songs.  Carrie Underwood is an amazing vocalist but she will sing songs with a great melody and let us just enjoy listening to her tone.  Good Luck Elise.  I wish you the very best.  I will buy your album.
