Elise Testone’s sister, Jenna lives in Rhode Island, which is what brought her to Boston over the weekend to participate in The Boston Brain Tumor walk.

While she was in New England, she dropped by Lite Rock 105 in Providence, RI, to preview a NEW SONG and to chat with djs Jones & Heather.

The song is so new, a final name has not been chosen yet. Listen to Elise Testone’s new song “Under Attack” or “I Will Not Break”

What do you think? I like it. Elise’s phrasing and technique are right on as always

I really like Elise but it seems like she is writing songs from a vocalists perspective (ie making sure she gets those runs).  I would prefer that she justs sings and rests in the song.  Randy was correct when he told Elise when she sang One And Only that she doesn’t have to give us all of her vocal repetoire all at once.  She needs to show restraint and subtlety.  She has a beautiful tone.  I don’t need all the runs in every song.

Also, not much melody here in this song.  Elise has made statements that she realized that she tended to write kinda depressing low key songs and she was going to try to stay upbeat in her writing.  Well, she didn’t take her own advice here.  If she wants to write slower songs, she needs a hook and a nice melody.  Two songs that represent the type of song Elise should be writing are Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry and David Guetta’s Titanium.  Both are subtle, have great melody, have a hook, and give the opportunity for a vocalist to just “sit” in the song and let the listeners enjoy the tone.

Love you Elise but this song is not a hit.  Please do not release an album of these type of songs.  You are competing in the marketplace now and there is not much demand for this type of song IMO.  Just get great songs.  Carrie Underwood is an amazing vocalist but she will sing songs with a great melody and let us just enjoy listening to her tone.  Good Luck Elise.  I wish you the very best.  I will buy your album.
