I’ve only seen bits and pieces of Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog on the web, but it’s one of those things that has been on my to do list to watch forever.

The impeccable Neil Patrick Harris from How I Married Your Mother (and a former American Idol and SYTYCD guest judge!) stars, along with Castle hottie, Nathan Fillion. Joss Wedon (Buffy, Avengers) directed this 2008 cult classic.

Now it’s getting a network television debut via the CW on October 9. I would be remiss not to mention it because there IS singing and dancing involved! Read the press release below:

July 30, 2012 (Beverly Hills, CA) – Joss Whedon’s acclaimed “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog,” starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day,” will make its television debut on Tuesday, October 9 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) on The CW.

Created as a three-part online musical in 2008 by Joss Whedon (“The Avengers,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), the series stars Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) as Billy, A.K.A. Dr. Horrible, a budding super villain whose plans for world domination continually go awry. His two goals: getting accepted into the Evil League of Evil, and working up the guts to speak to his laundromat crush Penny (Felicia Day, “The Guild”). The only thing standing in Billy’s way is his superhero arch nemesis, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion, “Firefly,” “Castle”). With one big score, Billy could get into the E.L.E. and earn the respect of Penny, but only if he can keep her away from the dashing Captain Hammer…

Directed by Joss Whedon, “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” was written by Maurissa Tancharden, Jed Whedon, Joss Whedon and Zack Whedon, with music by Jed Whedon and Joss Whedon.

Fantastic and highly entertaining.  NPH and Nathan Fillion were inspired casting, fit their characters to a “T” and the songs were singable, memorable and hilarious…. Looking forward to seeing it again :D

Whedon’s story telling and comedic timing were on full display.

The best way to view this show is to get ahold of the dvd and watch it once, then watch it again with the musical commentary.  Absolutely brilliant!
Plus, the extras on the disk include a number of video auditions for the E.L.E. made by fans of the show.

It is a ton of fun. I’m a fan of Felicia Day and her online comedy ‘The Guild’. It’s because of her that I watched it when it came out. It was a big deal online.

Very cool that it will be on TV.
