Before we get into the show, a little bit about myself; I’m in my mid-twenties and though my girlfriend is a bigger idol enthusiast than I am, I won’t lie and say she dragged me into this, I was excited about the show. Being an avid follower of Mjsbigblog and topidol, I’ll try and make this as exciting and detailed for the readers as possible.

There was no chance of me leaving work earlier than I should have to get to the pre-show mumbo-jumbo.

*No pictures, girlfriend took some but they aren’t uploading to my laptop for some reason, sorry =[

On with the show, friends:

Michael Sarver- Michael never really did it for me on the show, and the fact that he outlasted Alexis still itches at me, whether or not she is malnourished (lawlz, topidol). And contrary to all the other reviews, he still didn’t really do a whole lot for me. Granted, he was much better live and his set was fun I suppose and energetic, but not nation-wide tour worthy, it all felt slightly underwhelming?

Megan Joy- is smokin’. Yeah that’s a cheesy little line, but seriously, I don’t think even my girlfriend cared how I couldn’t take my eyes off the stage or the big screen. And I like her voice, but as much as I thought or wanted to love her set, I think Put Your Records On was akward and odd and Tears Dry on Their Own was an improvement, but not by much. I tried to cheer and be loud for her as much as possible seeing as the Philly crowd couldn’t care less.

Scott MacIntyre- Was never funny on the show, nor was he funny last night. And his voice sounds like s***. Always. Live. On Tv. Live. On Tv. I thought Bend & Break could have been replaced with a song more fitting for his terribly dated style, and A Thousand Miles was just him thinking inside his stupid piano-minded box. Next person please- Scott, you suck and I wish I took a bathroom break’ ¦ all over the stage while you performed.

Lil Rounds- To say Lil had a fun, entertaining, nice, set is right on the mark. But that’s all it was, nice. Like on the show, she took on the big powerhouses, and sort-of failed, sort-of succeeded. She thinks she’s equal or just as great as Mary J., Alicia, and Beyonce who are three of the most current and popular artists out there. I enjoyed her take on Mary J, though it was note-for-note Lil’ Copycat Infringement. No One was pleasant, but again, sort of screechy and pitchy and off. But pleasant in that sort-of gross way. Single Ladies was atrocious, people writing other reviews are trying to be nice when saying what she did to that already horrendous song was ‘great,’ it blew.

Anoop Desai- Anoop was so bland and boring this season. Every week it was a ballad, and a little whiney defense about the artist he wants to be, he was in every was as annoying as Lil was. But I think he helped in changing my perspective of him slightly live. His first song Always on My Mind was actually a very good vocal, and it was more interesting than when he first did it. I enjoyed Mad a lot, just because I like the song and it’s not really a song that would sound terrible if any of the other contestants did it. And My Prerogative was uh energetic but stupid and cheesy and he shouted most of it and danced around like he couldn’t tell whether he was black or Indian. I’m not racist, just sayin’.

Matt Giraud- When Matt was on the big screen I found it disheartening to not find Quatto the beloved mole. I liked Matt on the shows some weeks, but found him sorta arrogant and terrible other weeks. The air of arrogance disappeared from his Idolatry interview, and that terrible-ness he brought some times, was nowhere to be found when he took the stage. Hard to Handle was actually a very crazy performance while Georgia was nicely done. I was indifferent about You Found Me, but his set was easily the best of the night thus far. He made me a fan, but until he explains the disappearance of Quatto I refuse to join his frauen.

Intermission- Bathroom. Bathroom. Bathroom. Bathroom. The core of the idol line-up is next. Lawlz lawlz lawlz.

Allison Iraheta. Without being biased or anything :) Allison truly has the most moving, passionate, soaring voice out of all the top 10. Don’t attack me, followers of the church of flamboyant flamebert, will get to his mighty voice in a few, but in the end, oversinging just doesn’t match that passionate and gravelly powerful voice Allison has. I was more entertained by the look of So What, rather than the vocals, for she looked awesome during it. Crybaby was in-freakin’-credible. Seriously, I wasn’t even a big fan of her Crybaby performance on the show, but the song live is ground-shaking. I wasn’t too excited for Barracuda because I had already seen it on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien ( I love me some Late night talk shows), and it is such an incredibly hard song to sing, but she pulled it off better than anyone since Ann Wilson herself.

Danny Gokey is a douchebag. Don’t tell me you little annoying kids that I wasn’t giving him a fair open-mind because I dislike him so much because I was. P.Y.T was fun sure, Maria Maria brought the amazingly annoying pompous side of Danny that thinks he can tackle freaking latin sounding music then transitioning to country music and making it sound good. Cause it doesn’t. He screamed through his Rascals Flatts part, and some b**ch next to me was screaming for him and honest to god I explained to her how much this guy blows. How he ever.ever.ever outlasted Allison will piss me of until the day I die. He
is a douche, he will not sell records with his f***in’ latin-soul record. Because no label in the right mind can find him marketable.

Da Glambert- Was I an Adam fan? Eh. Did I dislike him? Nah. I found Adam sick some weeks like rock week, which pleased me when I began to hear Whole Lotta Love. Other weeks I found him to highly overrated- Top 3, Michael Jackson, Disco. Like previously mentioned, his first song was the Led Zeppelin classic, and it was very well done. Next was that Muse which name escapes me, one second while I surf the interweb. Here we are- Starlight was the name and honestly I found it to be my favorite of his set, it felt right. Mad World was show-stopping I suppose, but not jaw-dropping. He got a standing ovation for it the first time because the shit-for-brains idiots behind Idol had the top 8 episode going over by 8 minutes. Then Allison came out for a, to put it mildly, extremely satisfying funny and entertaining duet of Slow Ride, a song that will suck when they’re not singing it. Then the Bowie Medley which I felt, honestly, like he was shoving the whole I’m gay, I’m a glam-rocker thing right down my throat. Other than that, the volcanic screams he got tell the tale of how great he was.

Kris Allen- I like Kris, I like his style, personality, he’s just a cool likable guy really. First he hit it off with one of the undeniable highs of the season, his rendition of Heartless. That beginning is off the chain yo. Then with the Killers song, which stands to be one of my favorite songs ever recorded, Kris did it nicely, it’s a very live-oriented song anyway. Then
another hit of his, Ain’t No Sunshine was up and it was actually quite brief. Then onto the best of his set, Bright Lights where he become very active and fun, while closing his set off with the other idols, a cheesy Hey Jude. I wanted to get home and catch Conan and Letterman so I left before the finale, which I’ve seen countless videos of. And hey, don’t yell at me- Renee Zellweger was on, I love me some Renee Zellweger.

All in all, a great show. In honor of Michael Slezaks next day recaps, let’s grade the idols.

Michael Sarver- C+
Megan Joy- C
Scott MacIntyre- C-
Lil Rounds- B
Anoop Desai- B+
Matt Giraud- A
Allison Iraheta- A+
Danny Gokey- D
Adam Lambert- A
Kris Allen- A+

wow. quite a change from the “‘it was nice” and “i liked it” reviews. you’re, uh, brutally honest. but thanks for taking the time to write the recap. :)

  • Eileen99

Thanks for the chuckles ….. loved the recap. The only thing I disagreed with much was your assesment of Gokey. I really liked him, but hey, that’s me. Maybe I’d give Michael a higher grade, but no major quibbles there.

Adam & Kris – totally agree with everything you said there.

“Pre-show mumbo-jumbo” = My new favorite term. It just about sums up all the silliness for me.

  • Squirrely

I kind of respected you until that Rene Z admission. Interesting recap – thanks for posting it.

  • Vada

I love your grading system. I would rank Danny a B and
Michael Sarver a B-, but otherwise, I agree completely.

  • girlygirl

That’s a very Philly-style recap. Yup, give it up for my hometown!!!Blunt and honest. Thanks for posting.

  • LindaT

Thanks for the review of the Philly concert. Many of the other reviews posted here have been very PC (e.g. “trying to look for the good in everyone”), but you told it exactly as you saw it. Kinda refreshing! (Although you may be getting some hate mail from the fans of the idols you scorned!) Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • Michelle

Yay, more love for Matt. I do not ask where Quatto has gone, I am simply relieved Quatto is no longer with us :) Thanks for the write-up!

  • rockvixen

I disagree with your comment about why Adam got a standing O. IMO it was because Adam performed an epic performance worthy of a standing O not because the show is overtime.

So was Kris shoving the whole I’m straight… I’m a musician down your throat too?

  • luvadamlambert

Um thanks? I disagreed with the top 4 parts but mostly agreed with the bottom 6. thanks for being brutally honest?!

  • LisaE

That was an interesting recap. It made me laugh, cringe and rage, but I guess that’s what you were going for, huh?

  • LucyN

So was Kris shoving the whole I’m straight’ ¦ I’m a musician down your throat too?

    Hahahahaha! I love this comment.

  • lizardino

Unvarnished, unflinching and honest. This recap was like drinking semi-sweetened lemonade after a summer of mostly sweet tea. Since I happen to love lemonade (and tea), this isn’t a bad thing. It’s nice to read a review by someone who has strong opinions–even if I don’t happen to agree with all of them. Hey, that’s why we all have separate personalities after all!

Thanks — that was entertaining and an interesting read! You did Top Idol proud (I hope you cross-posted to that site as well). :bye_tb:

  • k4dc

OK, I had to look Quatto up, but that was good for a laugh. Love your honesty and snarkiness!

  • glamatheart

C’mon Dfeeel2, tell us how you really feel! LOL I was never a fan of Danny on the show but I really liked him in concert. Oh well. Didn’t agree with everything, but I enjoyed it.

  • Leslie91791

I’ve seen David Bowie perform and it seems to me that Adam is trying to act a bit like Bowie does with his prancing around and arm waving. Adam even injects a sort-of English accent into his singing. I think Adam’s moves and voice are more to mimic Bowie, since he is doing a medley of Bowie’s songs, than what you suggest.

  • dyg1

You did Top Idol proud (I hope you cross-posted to that site as well).

    He certainly did.

  • dfeeel2

Actually rockxviven Kris didn’t, I’m sorry that this was MY recap not the Adam Lambert assessment.

    Ha and thanks everyone

    and yup girlygirl =]

  • wipedaway

nice review. Honest, straight forward, funny.

  • canuck

Well..maybe it was time to knock Danny down a notch…he’s been doing so well on the tour.
    Can’t have that happening.

  • LisaE

Sooo…out of curiosity, have we had a straight guy (wait, you are a guy, right? that may be the wrong assumption, you could be a girl w/ a girlfriend who finds Megan and Renee smokin’ hot) who openly likes Adam yet and who wasn’t freaked out by his gay? No, seriously, have we??

  • PRMari

Dfeeel2, Too bad you said you have a girlfriend because I was about to ask you to marry me.

  • dfeeel2

Actually Lisa E., we have a straight guy and i find it hilarious the lengths you crazy frauen members will go to, to protect your precious idols. Hahahaha.
Trying to attack me personally. I like Adam. Read my recap. Not the comments below. Crazy lady.

  • dfeeel2

The frauen is out in full force today on mjsbigblog i see.

  • dfeeel2

Haha PRMari, ya never know lawlz.

  • MrsB

dfeeel2 – You certainly brought back memories of my 20′s – for that you get an A in my book! :) (& I’m not from Philly)

I loved the blunt & honest manner because it made your recap your own & stood out from the norm – just like the concert last nite in Philly!! It was a good one for sure!

I am so happy you brought up Alexis as I just can’t help thinking how much she would have added to this Idol tour. Since I haven’t attended a concert as you have I would not be able to give a good opinion on which one of the bottom four she should have replaced but I enjoyed hearing yours!

If you were not blunt & honest you would most likely still have people grumbling about something anyway, it just seems to be par for the course………. so you go girl, be yourself!

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed reading with a big WOW attached. :smile1_tb:

  • 10DogMom

Loved your recap. Trying to decide if I will be brave enough to also say how I REALLY feel in 2 weeks in Grand Rapids…

  • dfeeel2

    Thanks Mrs. B!

And unless thats just a play on the figure of speech, I’m a guy=]

  • tinawina

Wow. LOL. I am in awe. :lol_tb:

  • dfeeel2

    Do it 10dogmom.
    Screw the haters
    hahahahahaha

  • Anastasia72071

I found it disheartening to not find Quatto the beloved mole. {snip} He made me a fan, but until he explains the disappearance of Quatto I refuse to join his frauen.

OMFG!!! Stop, you almost made me choke on my lunch! :laugh_tb: :lol_tb:

  • LisaE

Actually Lisa E., we have a straight guy and i find it hilarious the lengths you crazy frauen members will go to, to protect your precious idols. Hahahaha. Trying to attack me personally. I like Adam. Read my recap. Not the comments below. Crazy lady.

Crazy wittle straight boy (who’s probably my age and could honestly have been a girl), I was seriously asking a question, not attacking you personally. So again…have we had any not freaked out by the gay yet?

  • Mtlfan

    thanks for your recap!!!

Agree with you on a lot!

Didn’t know the Killers song before! Just LOVE it and very glad that Kris sings it

  • Vak33

There’s a difference between being “honest” and “being rude.” Making personal judgments of the Idols as people shows not only idiocy, but a lack of people skills. You don’t know him, so making a judgment like that, with no track record of doucheyness other then self-invented moments of “I didn’t like how he phrased a sentence”, or “I didn’t like the timing of his smile” is just ridiculous.

  • MrsB

dfeeel2 – Dang it I was hoping for some more WOW from Philly – sorry :blush_tb:

10DogMom No fear – the honest ones are always the best!

  • dfeeel2

Cool Vak33 take you’re Gokey defending nonsense somewhere else. Don’t tell me not to label him something if you’re assuming i don’t like him for certain reasons. Did you read my recap. I’m not one of those people who dislikes him for those little indescrepincies. And wow, mocking my people skills cause i poked fun at an american idol contestant?

    You are freaking insane.
Get off the computer and get some fresh Vak33, before your brain rots from the constant glare of the computer and television screen.

  • cookcricket

Thanks for the definitely honest, definitely funny recap!! I keep saying I’m done reading recaps and then I come across something like this, start and can’t stop. My hubby has relatives from Philly and I have to say straightforwardness is very refreshing. I had never laughed so hard as at his grandmother’s wake! (RIP MomMom!)

Also, I could tell you liked Adam! Is he gay? Yes. Can he be flamboyant on stage? Yes! Thems the facts.

ETA: Flamboyant-strikingly bold or brilliant; showy.

Oops, my mistake dfeeel2. I thought when you liked WLL and gave him an A that at least meant something. But I still agree with most of your review.

  • dfeeel2

    I wasn’t crazy about Adam.

  • Miss Chaos

Wow just Wow! I know you were going for the dramatic, but as I started reading I was actually shaking waiting to read Adam’s review. Well it wasnt so bad, you actually gave him a A, so I’ll go with that. :drunk_tb:No use sugarcoating what you thought of the Idols, but were you really that interested in going if you thought they were going suck that bad????

  • Vak33

Right…so you called him a douchebag because…he sang “Maria Maria”? A song that was written by Carlos Santana, but recorded vocals by an R & B group? You call him arrogant for no apparent reason.

I did enjoy how you tried to pretend that you disliked him for other reasons, offering up as evidence…you saying that wasn’t the reason, but never providing an actual reason.

  • dfeeel2

I didnt think they were going to suck?
Tell me when and where I said that please and thank you.
    God people, stop misquoting me

  • dfeeel2

Me loves how Vak33 defends douchebag. Do you want me to continue to explain the douchiness of Gokey.

Do you really wanna debate about him?
    Sure

the blatant self-promotion through the death of a loved one.

the clear and true cockiness and low level of self-awareness week after week.

skating by on lackluster performances and a lack of creativity, except for OMG a harp in a dated love song, and making stand by me something to be found at the county fair?

Not to mention his performance of Maria Maria was grotesque and I used as evidence to the fact he believes he can reinvigorate a style of latin-soul music, when clearly he’s not desired by any label.

  • graciecat

So nice of you to compliment Matt for his performance and at the same time get in the tired and worn out mole dig. Brutal and honest recap? More like cheap shot!

  • ianaleah

Thanks for recap. You write as a person speaking the words & I love that. I also can tell you really are a guy. I really enjoy your just tellin’ it like it is. And then you stop there and don’t go justifying or trying to convince us to your piint of view. No attempt at control and no hidden agenda. Gracias !

  • dfeeel2

    ianalean, thank you.
I’m not trying to sway ANY of you. Those were just my opinions. Sorry if you didn’t like them, but thats not my problem. Don’t try and sway me. Out to dinner I go. Farewell

  • Vak33

Blatant self-promotion through the death of a loved one? Do you think he went to the producers and said “hey, my wife died, book me?” No, they go through a series of tryouts where information is gathered. His wife died? Should he not talk about it because it makes you feel better. He didn’t get where he was because his wife died, he got where he was because a lot of people liked his voice.

Nice vague statement about “real and true cockiness and low self-awareness” without anything to back it up. It’s really keeping with your general argument structure.

Skating by on lack of creativity? While he is admittedly not the most creative contestant, musically, in the history of idol, so what? He got by on the fact that he has an awesome voice, a powerful voice, and people enjoyed listening to it. Idol is a singing competition, not a re-arranging songs contest, despite what some try to portray it as.

His performance of “Maria, Maria” was grotesque? While it’s your opinion, and you have a right to express how a particular performance struck you, you again go off into your la-la land of pure conjecture with no evidence and vague statements when you say “I used as evidence to the fact he believes he can reinvigorate a style of latin-soul music, when clearly he’s not desired by any label.” Maybe he just likes the song? Maybe he’s just singing it as a tribute to his Latin wife? Maybe it’s the type of music he wants to do (although apparently he wants to do country)? None of that means he thinks he can “reinvigorate a style”, that’s just you inventing things to say to make him look arrogant.

And finally, you have no idea if he’s desired by a label. He’s not desired by 19E, that’s all we know. He’s under contract with them until yesterday, and he’s already publicly stated that he’s been approached by two labels, but don’t worry, I’m sure you’re closer to the negotiations than he is…

  • isisdagmar

Thanks for the recap. :) Interesting–Kris, Adam, Allison and Matt seem to be getting almost universal praise, whether they’re the recapper’s personal style or not. It does seem like their talent–especially Kradison’s–is pretty clear even if you’re not personally into them. When I saw the concert, I thought that Adam, Kris, and Allison were clearly on their own level–the people with the most potential to make interesting music–followed by Matt, then the rest of the group.

People’s reactions to voices are fascinating. To me, Adam and Allison have by far the two best voices of the group (I really like Kris’s voice as well). Allison’s voice is earthy and Adam’s is alien, and while I personally find Adam’s voice the most “moving, passionate, soaring” of the bunch–JMO, of course–they are both probably among my top 10 vocalists at this point. Which is not a statement I ever expected to make about anyone from AI (never watched before this season), must less two people. Slow Ride really is delightful, as you say–and i know it’s a cliche to marvel at Allison’s age, but I can’t believe she is three years younger than I am.

However, I was a bit confused by the statement “he was shoving the whole I’m gay, I’m a glam-rocker thing right down my throat.” I totally get not liking the Bowie medley–none of these guys can appeal to everyone all the time, after all–or not liking the glam rock element of it or something, and Adam is definitely fairly overtly sexual on it, and he is of course gay, but how is he shoving the fact that he’s gay down your throat? That part I didn’t understand. I don’t think you’re homophobic or anything, but that is something that I noticed about topidol during the season–I loved going there to read about Allison as a way to calm my rage after the judges’ idiocy towards her, but there was always too much focus on the fact that Adam is gay to the point that it seemed immature. Not in a homophobic way–just that it’s only one part of him, like being straight is part of Kris or Allison, but for some people it became the main thing they saw in him–like he was a “gay artist” instead of an artist who happened to be gay. If that makes any sense. Anyway, I was just curious why it struck you like that.

Thanks again for the recap. Glad that you enjoyed yourself, and hopefully your girlfriend did too. :)

  • dfeeel2

I loved how it took you 300 years to write your response Vak33, did you go and do research.
    Bye

  • Vak33

It took me at most 13 minutes as evidenced by the time stamps , but actually only about 5. Certainly much less time then you took to write you’re enitre re-cap. So since I spent 5 minutes writing a response, and you spent however much longer writing a re-cap, does that make you a loser?

No, I didn’t research anything, why would I have to? I didn’t reference any scientific studies, I commented on your post. Are you seven years old?

  • Ladyguard

There is a fine line between honest opinion and plain rude…..you took a big jump over that line. Calling someone a douchebag does not belong in a review. That is a personal opinion and since you have never met Danny, I don’t think you have a right to state that. Now this is MHO

  • dfeeel2

My review. Never said I was gonna be nice, my review. Clearly not following the guidelines of plain reviews.

And whatever Vak33, topidol likes gettig recaps so i typed one up for her and sent it to mjs as well, sorry if that makes me a loser? Am i also a loser cause i went out into town last night?

  • dfeeel2

And don’t tell me what i do and don’t have the right to do ladyguard.

  • JosieX

I am in a good mood today, so I’ll give you some advice on your writing efforts. I see two problems with this one that tend to overshadow the effectiveness of the overall piece. The first is that you make it too obvious that you hope to stir up some exciting reactions to take back and giggle over with your little friends. Therefore, many people who are capable of giving you some really good stuff aren’t going to do it, because that would be giving you what you want, see how that works? You’ve got to be a little more subtle about it if you want it to work well.

The second is that too much of the material has been overdone, and so it doesn’t have the effect of getting people fired and up and ready to go, so to speak. For example, your section on Danny started with calling him a douchebag. That wasn’t snarkworthy the first 25,000 times it was used, and so seeing it is not going make a lot of hearts beat faster. I am a fairly decent Danny defender if I do say so myself, but seeing that tired old insult made you about as interesting to me as a three year old kid sticking out his tongue, kwim? But as I said, I am in a good mood and you’re a young guy and I don’t mind encouraging young writers along.

Now, the repeated insults to women (calling them bitches, twats etc.) would tend to get people engaged with you. But because of the first issue I mentioned, you may not get as lively a reaction as you would like.

But good luck to you, and keep trying!

  • dfeeel2

Wow so kind and generous of you to share your widom?

Where is MJ, the moderator to tame these unruly posters??? Ah, she is busy with the “Adam says some of his fans stink” thread…

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

    OMG

  • Soberba

This guy is rude. He was rude in his recap, but that was not the problem. He has a right to his opinion. He was specially rude to people that disagreed with him in this blog, and that shows how really rude and pompous he is, attacking them personally. He must think he is Doc House himself: “blunt and honest”. What a joke… He does not have any original thoughts, he just repeats the things he heard on Idolatry. He’s nothing but a Michael Sleazek wannabe. Sleazek and Kirsten Baldwing are awsome. But you’re not them, ok pal? And pass their opinions as yours doesn’t make you as witty as them.

  • LindaT

    dfeeel2:

    Are you a “Worster”? I think I recognize your style … :)

If so, tell Dave I said hi.

ETA: Why do I think MJ will be happy when this day is over? Heh.

  • Lux

Ok, I don ´t agree with everything you said but I found your recap very funny and it made me laugh and I needed that, thanks!

  • kradamour

Recap – outrageous and fun, even though I winced a bit at some of the rudeness. It is your opinion and your recap, offered for our entertainment, and thanks are due for taking the time to write it.

Multiple defensive responses directed to those who commented on the recap – epic fail.

  • dfeeel2

How does speaking my mind insinuate that I think i’m superior to all. You’re all reading way too much into this. It’s a freakin’ recap of an american idol show. Back away, frauen. Back away. And me watching idolatry and having similar opinions does not make me some wannabe doppelganger.

And Kradomour are you saying i’m epic failing defending my recap from the frauen?

  • lakers24

What does Anoop’s dancing have to do with being Black or Indian? Didn’t know he supposed to dance a certain way, just sayin’….

  • joeschmoe319

First off, lurve your review, dude!

As for the person trying to defend Gokey…

Should he not talk about it because it makes you feel better. He didn’t get where he was because his wife died, he got where he was because a lot of people liked his voice

Well, it’d make him a little more universally likeable if he didn’t pimp his dead wife. And being pimped before the competition made him go farther than he should have, which is why even with all of his performances melding together, he was backed up by the power voters and when he did a “Dream On” fans rallied to save him b/c that was dangerous. But good thing fans can’t go on overdrive for two weeks b/c by giving two mediocre performances, those votes he needed weren’t there for him, not to mention casual fans and fans of the recent fallen Idol went to both Kris and Adam, who were both upping their game. That’s justice for ya!

real and true cockiness and low self-awareness

It’s the way how he carries himself in public which make him appear as such. Fucking America’s face while dancing, teasing his BFF Matt with the performance that got him eliminated once, manhandling Allison twice, the “godly” comment, having Adam sign a provocative autograph of himself, his statements about his beliefs towards gays: “But people still have to respect my beliefs,” “needs to perfect that twang,” “two record companies bidding over me,” OMFG! Oh Gokey, don’t change plz. I appreciate those LOL and WTF moments you give.

He got by on the fact that he has an awesome voice, a powerful voice, and people enjoyed listening to it. Idol is a singing competition, not a re-arranging songs contest, despite what some try to portray it as.

Problem: It’s not really a singing competition anymore, it’s about being creative and having a clear musical direction as well. In past seasons, where great karaoke was the rule, Gokey would’ve won. And frankly, he went static and never improved his craft. Sure, he had the voice, but that’s where it ends. His strategy won’t cut it anymore with this kind of competition.

    Also…

He was rude in his recap, but that was not the problem. He has a right to his opinion. He was specially rude to people that disagreed with him in this blog, and that shows how really rude and pompous he is, attacking them personally. He must think he is Doc House himself: ‘blunt and honest’ . What a joke’ ¦ He does not have any original thoughts, he just repeats the things he heard on Idolatry. He’s nothing but a Michael Sleazek wannabe. Sleazek and Kirsten Baldwing are awsome. But you’re not them, ok pal? And pass their opinions as yours doesn’t make you as witty as them.

Oh puh-leaze! Leave this guy be! At least he knows his stuff!

Nice review. However I feel Megan was the worst. I was sitting in the 4th row and she is beyound beautiful I just don’t think she can really sing. I also did not like Danny on the show but during the concert being so close I could actually see how sincere he was and I could not believe it but I really liked his voice. Regarding Adam, he is not shoving his gayness down your throat. You sound a little homophobic

  • dfeeel2

JoeSchmo, youre legit my favorite person ever

  • joeschmoe319

some b**ch next to me was screaming for him and honest to god I explained to her how much this guy blows.

Nice way to tell her off, dude! How did she feel afterwards?

How he ever.ever.ever outlasted Allison will piss me of until the day I die.

ITA. Then again, that “Dream On” shit put Gokey fans on overdrive. And even Adam’s and Kris’ fans were on overdrive too b/c they were both in the bottom group and Kris was thrown under the bus by those tone-deaf, biased judges. Kris, Adam and Allison had the same fans, which made the guys’ fans vote solely for one of the two guys. And poor Allison was left in cold water. Jerks!

Because no label in the right mind can find him marketable.

Let’s see: too unhip for pop, too inauthentic to be country, too white for soul and Latin, and too ear-splitting for rock. Seriously, this guy is best for AC or CCM, but he shuns them b/c the fanbase on those genres are limited. And frankly, I see him as more of a reality show character than a musical artist.

  • agathe.hb

LOVED your honesty and your recap :) to each of his own!!!! glad you’ve had good time :)

I totally agree with you, I think that was what Adam was trying to avoid all this time, when “he was presumably, in the closet” – that he didn’t want his sexual preference defining him as a person and artist and musician…. I know that he laughs at it, but it really hurts me for him, I am a “formerly fat and bland person” and to be gay on top of that???? not a good feeling

  • mikeyb

I love hater reviews. I don’t necessarily agree with your takes on each Idol, but I can certainly respect where you’re coming from on each review. My only beef is that you didn’t give Scott lower than a C-. If you’re going to trash Scott, you need to give him an F. Or be mean and give an F plus/D minus; that would have matched your written evaluation much more closely.

    THIS
    liked the recap!
responses and defensiveness – epic fail

  • iluvai

Well, I’m glad you’re not my boyfriend. lol. (Don’t love the sarcastic type so much.) I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want me as a girlfriend either. lol You have a right to your opinion, though.

I’m glad I went to the concert with my fellow AI fantards. We loved it and all of the idols (in spite of their imperfections).

  • mikeyb

    (I think I ended up double-posting, sorry!)

  • iluvai

Checking out of this thread. Meh, bleh, or something like that. Still learning the lingo.

  • agathe.hb

I kind of changed my mind reading Dfeels2 responses – to me now it was all for show, trying to please people, who are trying so hard to be snotty and witty, but sometimes they fail :(
I have my favorites, but I don’t mind that people diss them, really, BUT I DO MIND people’s dissing other people just for the sake of dissing, if you know what I mean…. you took me back to high school and mean girls and jocks and geeks and all this SHIT – not liking it at all

  • dfeeel2

Stop trying to be preachy and righteous agathe.
You’re coming off tactless little girl.

  • dfeeel2

Checkers im sorry if I come off that way, but yet again stating it clearly, he was shoving the flamboyant part down my throat, I felt violated in a way lawlz, thats all.

  • dfeeel2

And to whomever said I failed at being witty, cool, take that up with those loled and choked on their lunch. You made it sound as if you finding me unfunny was some universal claim. Step into the real world where YOUR opinion counts as one, agathe.

  • jga94

and danced around like he couldn’t tell whether he was black or Indian. I’m not racist, just sayin’.

This is what I have observed…many (but not all)people don’t believe he can be an R&B because of preconceived ideas on how an R&B singer should look or perform…..it may not be outright racism but I think it is a form of prejudice….just sayin’.

  • Vak33

And whatever Vak33, topidol likes gettig recaps so i typed one up for her and sent it to mjs as well, sorry if that makes me a loser? Am i also a loser cause i went out into town last night?

Are you mentally handicapped? If so, I apologize. Assuming that you are not mentally handicapped, and are in fact just stupid, you attacked me for “taking 300 years to write a response” (maximum 13 minutes), I mocked you for taking even more time out of your life to write a recap of a concert. What do you not understand about this?

  • Circe

Dfeeel2: Refreshing and irreverent; I loved it. Thank you.

  • agathe.hb

I am neither preachy nor righteous, never have been, never will be,
liked your recap but DID NOT like your defending your point of view – POINTLESS AND FUTILE
AND being defensive means you don’t really preach what you teach
    that’s all folks

  • justjude

Hey, Hey! At last a review of ginuine clarity.Been wait’n fer you boy!!!

Oh God, it’s great to look in the face of a girl with a beautiful face and rip off her head
    at the vocal cords.
And yeah, i.t’s so fun and you gets more points if you use sarcasm and distain for the blind guy can’t read anyway. You would be so much cooler if you could be him!

And you…ARE NO RACIST SIR, by golly! WE all know that racists never disemble by saying…”I’m not a racist!!!!!!!!!!! If you were a racist I just know you would say loud and clear “and as you can tell I’m a racist!!!!!!!!

But you know When Dfeeel2…much too lucky? Yeah you soooo lucky when you walk right in to it and become the glam mans sucker. Yep there are some that could even envy you all

And Danny just not even original… JUST STANK BUD…..But you were ???HONEST!!!!!!!!!!!……. honestly?

    BEST. RECAP. EVER.

  • HB

Ha! Love this recap, one of the top 5 that’s been posted this season.

I see absolutely no wit – just a pompous ass.

  • cmheart

I actually didn’t really have too many issues with the recap (though some of the jabs were pushing it for a site like this) until I saw some of your nasty comments to the other posters. Damn girl… (dude)….if you have such a dislike for “frauen” why post on an American Idol blog where you know they’re gonna be a plenty?

  • pippy18

Overall, exactly what I would expect from a philly dude.
Have to go to the “shoving down my throat” bit.
Adam’s just doing his thing, not giving one damn thought to how you’ll take it.
The only universe where he’s shoving anything down you’re throat is in your homosexually panicked mind.
Its almost as if you were personally offended that he had the audacity to be himself in front of you, the ultimate heterosexual.

  • becausehelives

wow just went thru the comments. i’ll say the 12/13 yr old recappers we had here did a better job at handling the comments on their review. the recap itself was ok, obviously going for drama but the responses totally immature.

  • sylverine

cmheart – he’s a Topidol poster. Probably Idoltard too. They are obsessed about what they call ‘frauens’, by which I think they mean any woman fan over 35/40. He has probably cross-posted this here specifically to get a reaction. So he gets them, and then he really gets mean. But hey, it’s all in good fun isn’t it?

  • dfeeel2

Hahaha. “All for show” “For the drama and reaction”

Maybe you can’t just handle he wanted to let in his two cents? And i’m labeled the immature one.

  • dfeeel2

    He being me

  • Grammie Kari

Dfeeel2, your recap was interesting, that’s for sure. I agree with you about Alexis being there instead of Michael. I also feel that she would have gone farther than Michael, once she was in the Top 10. I also agree that Allison was so much better than Danny and he shouldn’t have been in the Top 3.

So, you didn’t like Anoop on the show? Okay, at least you enjoyed his performance enough to give him a B plus.

    Thank you for your efforts.

  • will

    Funniest. Thread. Ever.

So glad MJ just threw up her hands and decided not to moderate it, or it would all be gone!

  • dfeeel2

    Lawlzz, that was fun
