Democratic Convention Gets Off to a Raucous Start (VIDEO)

The day got off to a rocky start for the Democrats. In the wake of the Wikileaks dump, which leaked thousands of emails from the DNC server, some Bernie Sanders supporters were in no mood. The leaks revealed that high level DNC members were actively working against Bernie’s campaign. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC head, resigned, but that wasn’t enough to quell the anger.

At a Philadelphia rally earlier in the day, Bernie supporters even booed their own guy when he asked his supporters to vote for Hillary Clinton.

Bernie’s California delegation, in particular, got real loud and rowdy during the convention, pushing comedian and Bernie supporter, Sarah Silverman to the breaking point. She told the “Bernie or Bust” people they were being ridiculous. That got a loud cheer from the crowd.

After Senator Cory Booker got the crowd warmed up, First Lady Michelle Obama took the stage and gave an incredible speech. Republicans were probably taking notes for 2020! Even the Bernie busters calmed down for a minute while she spoke:

Senator Elizabeth Warren, a progressive in her own right, had the Bernie busters screaming “Goldman Sachs” at her as she endorsed Mrs. Clinton. Even Sanders sending out a text to his supporters, asking them to not disrupt the convention from the floor, couldn’t quell the small but loud contingent of Bernie busters.

Bernie Sanders finally took the stage as the last speaker and gave a powerful speech outlining why it was absolutely imperative that the Democratic party come together right now. He also reminded his followers of what they accomplished. The Bernie Sanders campaign kept Clinton on her toes and moved the party further left.

It was a rowdy 1st night at the Democratic convention, for sure. As an aside, Kelly Clarkson dragged a twitter troll that criticized Michelle Obama..
