The concept for the video is so Coldplay (“The Scientist”).

Very nice, very nice. So much of the pretty to enjoy. I like the concept. It fits the story of the song way better than LO’s did, and it looks great.

my computer is having a hard time playing it at normal speed, but it looks gorgeous. and by it, i mean he. suddenly i feel the need to put on the air conditioning.

I like this video’s concept better too. It really does seem to fit the song this time. :)

I know I’m probably in the minority here because the band is much loved, but I’m pretty happy they aren’t in it more because A) it doesn’t make sense for them given the plot and B) I want 100% DC looking hot YUMMMM! :wub_tb: :jittery_tb:

I was slightly confused at the end, because I though that after the kiss it started to go in forward motion, but then the tear reversed up her cheek and I was left puzzled.

It looks like when he got back to the recording studio, he was upset and knocked the water cooler over. I think he probably also put her things in the dumpster? That’s the way I saw it too. The first scenario she left him, he was mad and upset, dumped her things in the dumpster, knocked over the cooler etc. Then he didn’t like himself in the mirror after that (which is how the video started), so he rewound the whole thing, and then decided to let her go and set her free nicely and then wait for her to come back to him.

Ohhh, you could be right. He’s looking at himself when he sings “don’t recognize the face in the mirror looking back at you…” And then the garbage dumpster, and the toppled over water… I think we had two goodbye scenarios going on…one where he puts her crap in the garbage and dumps her ass (that would be Team Sunchick LOL) , and the other where he says he’ll wait for her (Team Mr. Sensitive.) And Team Mr. Sensitive wins in the end? I think.

The dubbing was off. WAY off. So much that it was sometimes distracting…. That was honestly my only complaint…. They could’ve done a better job matching it up. I know he was singing backwards so that’s why it might’ve looked a little funny.

Now for the positive…..

1) The water splash on the face scene. Holy mother of hotness… That did me in immediately.

2) David Cook and the band FTW!

3) He was soooooo pretty in this. I particularly liked the shots of him walking through the forest. The one clip where he brushes some tree limbs was all kinds of adorable.

4) Elevator look. Need I say more?

5) The kiss. Mmmmmmmmmmmhmmmmmm….

6) He did a decent acting job. Gotta hand it to him. He looked genuinely sad that she was leaving.

7) Very cool concept. Me like.

I like the interpretation that DC was unhappy with original parting and went backwards to redo it.

It looked perfect to me, except for one word – the “what you need to see” at the piano. That’s the only one that looked a little off IMHO, and even that’s hardly noticable at all.

Cannot repeat enough how much I love this video. Puts LO to shame.

Regarding the lips matching the song, I think the only part that is really obvious and distracting is when he’s in the woods. After that I didn’t notice anymore. Or maybe the video just got better.

The more I play this video, the more interesting I find it. Not that I didn’t find it interesting from the first play, it was just that I was, well, sorta distracted by the pretty. After several viewings I began to notice all the other stuff around David, lol.

And the more I think about it (and focus on something other than David’s prettiness) the more the video concept of “redoing the goodbye” makes sense.

I don’t think the dubbing was off that much. I watch the vid on AT&T UVerse (my cable provider) and I only saw 2 places where the lips didn’t exactly match the words. I think the stream on the net may have been the problem.

Reminds me of an ad for storage lockers that was running a few months ago when the young woman is seen torching her boyfriend’s junky belongings with a flame thrower, rather than pay to store them. Pretty hilarious. That approach probably would have been too extreme and silly for this video.

This was posted over at DCO (it is a YouTube video). Thought it was really cool. It is the video in reverse (well, really forward). I noticed a lot of things that I didn’t notice in the original video. A lot more information for us to analyze!!!!

David Cook is above and beyond the most talented and popular American Idol. David Cook as an American Idol contestant stayed true to who he was… he made things his own and you could tell that it came straight from his heart. He seemd like he was going to cry when he received the plaque. He’s the most sensitive guy ever. He carried that on to his first album… the entire album is 100% David Cook, each song is amazing. He wrote the majority of the songs and his voice is just the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard.

LOL, I have sooo many imagined videos in my head for Analog Heart it’s not even funny. Don’t Say a Word, Silver, The Truth, Makeover, Porcelain, Let Go, Searchlights… oops, did I list the whole album yet? They’re all such great narratives, and the videos in my head are all about 1000x hotter than the CBTM video– and I FLOVE the CBTM video haha.

OW I think I hurt myself watching that video…again. At work. Sheesh.

I think they aren’t mutually exclusive. If the song becomes a hit, top 10 on itunes for instance, people will discover the cd by liking the song. I’ve done that many times. I browse through the top 100 songs on itunes, and buy the ones I like. Often I then go look at the artist’s cds, and if I like a few songs on it, I buy it.

So I think it’s really, really good if the song itself becomes a hit. I think that Kelly’s hit songs, Breakaway and Since U Been Gone, led to her cd taking off and selling millions. Hit songs led to me recently buying two cds by the Fray, and many other artists the same way. Hit songs are amazing calling cards.

Just came back to say that David’s cd went up from 156 to 11 on Itunes today! And CBTM is at 34 now. Wow. The power of Idol.

AI exposure is fantastic but he can’t be on Idol every week.Single and album sales will get a big boost this week but in 8 weeks 19 will have a new Idol to promote. Cook’s singles will have to sell the album. If this song isn’t a hit, there really won’t be much else to sell the album and it’ll drop off the BB200 fairly quickly once AI ends.

So hit singles matter alot.
