I just finished watching the “Making Of” DVD. It was great! I actually teared up when he started crying. And I loved when he was talking about the band.

Heh, me, too. I can’t deal with teary-Dave. And I love how much these guys love each other :) I’ve never been a “Oh, I’ll ditch Dave if the band isn’t there!” sort but… I sure like them as a unit. <3 Monty lol.

The album moved back up to 6 on the overall itunes.

The report from Archieland is interesting and actually gives me a little hope. If Archie sold 26,000 without anywhere near the pr push that Dave is getting, it seems to me there’s a fairly good chance the physical stores, etc., will take him somewhere past that. I’d been afraid that in this market, and with all this time that has passed, he’d be doing well to top out at 25,000, but for once I may actually have aimed too low. Well, we’ll see. It is as it is, as a certain handsome and talented singer is known to say. I’m delighted with the album and grateful for it.

I’m off to tierbee’s bunker for a bit. If you want to come hang, I think the password is Mayday.

Yep, that’s the password. We keep it simple around here. In case you’re already drunk and can’t remember anything… lofty? :)

I got verklempt, too, at the part where he was all glassy eyed. The band interactions are fun to watch all the way around. I think my favorite bits were Neal talking about the new contrast between the intimate moments and the typical David grandiose moments in the songwriting, and Dave trying to describe Monty. Also, hai random label dude waxing poetic about Circadian!

  • tierbee

Dave describing Monty was so funny and sweet all at once :) But only a guy can explain to me the whole nut-punch thing. Why?! (I have two little boys, though, so I can say that they are inexplicable little creatures from the time they hatch…)

David. David Cook. Yep, I STILL lurv this man, 3+ years later. I would’ve loved him longer but he neglected to tell me to get up to Tulsa or KC and see the show. heh. SOOOO I really like the new album. First single TLG is not my favorite song but I kinda understand why it was the first single – hoping for HAC radio play? I dunno. The HAC station I listen to most doesn’t ever play him. But I think it would fit into their playlists. INNYWAY, been listening to TLM and TQN since I got them Friday! Hey my name is in the Thank Yous on TQN lalala YAY! I know, very silly…can’t help myself. I’ve only watched the DVD 2X. I do enjoy hearing about the making of the record. But mostly, I like listening to the record(s). I love the themed album idea, maybe because I was originally a vinyl-buying woman when I first started buying music. Seemed like most of them had some kind of common thread if not an actual CONCEPT.

SOOOO I will cross my fingers for RADIO PLAY and hope that this record sells. Just give it a chance, if you’re even mildly interested. Love you guys, DC & The Anthemic.

I finally received an email alerting me the album was available, but the downloader still doesn’t work. I just bit the bullet and downloaded them manually without much hassle. Now of course I’m kicking myself for not ordering it on iTunes. Is there no way to get the video without buying the deluxe album on iTunes?

  • Kirkee

Just wanna say I bought the album this morning on Itunes. Didn’t watch Cook’s season but I’ve been enjoying all the posted vids and I can’t get TLG out of my head.

  • CindyM

Per RCAPromo he’s singing The Last Goodbye on Regis & Kelly tomorrow.

  • HappyDaisy

That’s great, Kirkee! Enjoy This Loud Morning!

BootStar, I think the video comes with the deluxe version. ETA: As sunchick says, ask them to upgrade you to deluxe so you can get the video.

  • sunchick

I’m pretty sure that if you want the video, you have to buy the deluxe album. That’s what makes it the deluxe version, be it digitally or hard copy. Just like if you want the acoustic EP, you have to buy the fanpack, etc etc. At least until they decide to offer it differently. Maybe you can contact RCA to upgrade your album purchase to the deluxe version and they can do a refund/recharge type thing. Personally I’m glad I went for the fanpack. I think it’s worth it.

  • tinawina

Well someone will put it up on YouTube eventually Bootstar. :(

I just finished watching the “Making Of” DVD. It was great! I actually teared up when he started crying. And I loved when he was talking about the band.

I know, right? I tweeted right after watching it Monday morning that it made me laugh and cry and smile throughout. And then I was like, WTF, who am I and what have I done with the normal person I used to be?! LOL. I loved the band love on the vid so much.

Maybe you can contact RCA to upgrade your album purchase to the deluxe version and they can do a refund/recharge type thing.

Yeah. The MyPlay customer service email is actually pretty responsive and good about refunds, etc. when I messed up my order.

  • SharB

I changed my order and bought the fan pack. I’m so glad I did. I’m loving the acoustic songs and of course the cd/record. My love for David has grown even more when I saw my name listed in the acoustic cover with the Thank Yous. How special of him to thank us individually for the support. Yep, it’s like Christmas day. Huge smile on my face and glee in my heart. So worth the wait.

Happy cd-release day to all!!!!!! “We Believe” the sales will come and the support is there.

  • smeggingnuts

Congrats you guys I know its been a long wait for you. Happy that both you guys and Cook are happy with the album thats really all that matters.

haha though hopefully they will switch to a new song for radio

Well, naturally, my fan package CD/DVD has not yet been delivered – surprise!

But I downloaded TLM from I-tunes last night and have now listened to it twice through: on my way to work and back.

    1) I absolutely love the way that REM segues back into Circadian, when it repeats on my i-pod: that is genius. I love the dissonant quality of REM (nothing commerical about that song) playing into the slight musical experimentation combined with straight commerciality of Circadian.

    2) GTTG is a brilliant song: one of my favourite Cook songs ever; one of my top songs of the moment.

    3) However corny it may be – and it’s in danger of getting lost in it several times – I also love We Believe: it does what it says on the tin. It’s an uplifting listen.

    4) I also love: Fade Into Me, Hard To Believe, Take Me As I Am and Paper Heart. Lower tier, but they all hit the spot for me.

    5) I like Time Marches On – but it’s never struck me as strongly as it has others. I like the almost spoken verse bits, but I’m not keen on the chorus. TLG really works for me in this context: the album needs it at that point, after and before some heavier songs, but, though it has grown on me, it’s never going to be a song I go for.

    6) And that leaves Right Here With You and Four Letter Word: the only two genuine ‘meh’ songs on the album for me. They have a very similar theme; similar words; similar sound. Possibly that is a deliberate echo, taking on board the circular nature of the album, but neither of them do anything musically, IMO. If one had to stay, I’d take RHWY over 4 Letter Word any day of the week. The latter song just needed to be the spit and vinegar song talked about at one stage, with that title and at that stage of the album and it isn’t. It’s kind of a nothing song.

So there we go. Not a masterpiece – it needed to all be at the REM, Circadian, GTTG standard for that. But a really, really strong album – if you like this kind of thing. It successfully explores musical and emotional highs and lows and sneaks in a good portion of individuality and artistry at the beginning and end.

    Good stuff!

  • standtotheright

Also, hai random label dude waxing poetic about Circadian!

That’s David Wolter. He’s actually a pretty big deal at RCA A&R; he was nominated for a National Association of Recording Industry Professionals award.

A very good person to have in the corner.

  • BootStar

I’ll have to go back and look again. I purchased the digital version and couldn’t find a way to upgrade to the digital version of the Deluxe album. Really enjoying the album. Even “The Last Goodbye,” which I really don’t care for, doesn’t seem that out of left field when it’s surrounded by all those better songs.

  • PRMari

Well, I had pre-ordered the album so I bought it.

  • Willis

I decided to buy Dave’s album at Target. I really, really like Goodbye to the Girl. Paper Heart was good and surprisingly TLG was a standout. Overall I was not too pleased. I think it’s more me and my tastes have changed. Should have bought single tracks.
