O.K., I’ve seen all of the LKL, and Regis and Kelly, now Ellen. What’s the next show he’s on? I just can’t get enough, LOL!

Does he change clothes?

Does Michael Orland travel coast to coast with the Idols? Seems like it.

I’m reserving my opinion of his music until his first CD, because so far what he’s singing is putting me to sleep.

He must record “The World I Know”. That is just all kinds of beautiful.

Thank you Ellen for an interview that focused on what matters – David Cook and his future career. O.K. so it was much the same as everything else since the finale, but I think it will be a while before there is much more to talk about. I really like that version of “The World I Know” – I’d love to hear some tracks like that on his album (but obviously I have no say!)

mj – thanks again for posting these – it’s a nice breather during the work day. I tell you, a year ago who would’ve thought I’d be this into AI – seems like DC and I have something in common on that front

I’ve watched every interview and I’ve pretty much memorized his same responses to the same questions every time…but I guess that’s not his fault. Thank you, Ellen, for not mentioning that issue that doesn’t have to do with his music.

I love David Cook, I think he’s very intelligent and talented and all that…but someone needs to tell him to back down with that “I want to win a Grammy and an Oscar” comment…yes, he should definitely have goals, but come out with the album, let the music speak for itself, and then hopefully you’ll win a Grammy and all that. Why put more pressure on yourself before you’ve done anything? I don’t doubt that he can accomplish great things, but he really stepped out of American Idol with a really huge weight of high expectations that in this industry are very hard to live up to.

OK, we all like the guy, but it all comes down to the music……he’s a beautiful singer! hooray! that’s the essence….

After DC sang, Ellen walks over and says to Micheal Orland, ” See we called it” (paraphrase)Does anyone remember an interview with MO about 6 weeks ago where he says that Archie is the most orignal and biggest risk taker on the show? I remember the peeps here scratching their heads and wondering what the hell he was talking about. After that comment by Ellen it makes me wonder even more so WTF MO was talking about in that interview. SOunds like in a previous chat Ellen and MO agreed that dc would win…..JMHO!!!

Loved the performance. Interview was predictable…I can recite along with him the “5:30 am in Omaha, the sun hasn’t come up yet, it’s raining” thing. But I still can’t help watching all of the videos! Seriously, I need to wean myself off. I’ve been a daily MJ’s blog reader for 3 seasons, but I have spent MUCH more time here this season. Thanks MJ!

erennick that’s so funny that’s exactly how I feel! My kids are starting to revolt though and have had enough. Everytime they hear/see me listening/watching David Cook they groan and leave the room.
An extra perk though of my obsession, I have lost 16 lbs. in 3 weeeks, I’m not kidding!!!

You know the more I see of this guy, the more I’m impressed with him. Idol should be thanking the high heavens that Cook won. He is so articulate, so composed, and so talented. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Best and most important winner since Kelly Clarkson. If Archuleta had won, Idol would have been in big trouble. Cook will continue to, and already is, bringing credibility back to the franchise. And I thank him for that, because I love my American Idol.

I predict he sells more than Daughtery.

Oh, and I know he didn’t mention her on Ellen, but dude needs to stop talking about KC. He’s free to date her, but he needs to stop talking about it!

That version of TWIK on Ellen was awesome!! Wow–and this was taped when? Last Friday after he’d been up, like, 48 hours? His vocals were gorgeous. I always loved the CS version of that song, but David has transformed it into something hauntingly beautiful.

Does anyone else think that when Ellen asked about his brother, David thought she meant Adam (the sick one), but I think she just meant little brother Andrew.

It tears me up every time I watch hiim perform it–either performance during or post-Idol, and is rapidly floating to the very top of my playlist (behind everything off Analog Heart and some of the more moody Axium stuff.)

Kim Caldwell has a very smoky, sultry, voice. She really isn’t that bad of a singer. They might sound good together.

I’m sure Cook will sell tons of records, but, the real money is in touring.

I have to watch all the interviews, they won’t come close enough for me to watch them on tour…and I couldn’t afford it anyway..tickets are just too high for a lot of us. But, I will buy me some CDs this year..I like a lot of them..I even like a few of them in the bottom 24. But David/David and Jason has my heart.

I don’t have a scanner but I got the new TV Guide in the mail today (for next week) and there’s a really nice 3 page feature on Cookie, including a beautiful picture that takes up a full page with the caption “KING DAVID”. Nice interview that took place after he won.

I am so glad that TPTB does not force David to sing the magic rainbow song at these performances. I love his version of the world I know.

They’ve got him media trained already. You know, to be perfectly honest, the only people who think he’s “repetitive” are the crazy fans who watch every single interview he does. To the general public, this is not so. He has a company line to tow. I’m actually happy he’s being honest about Kim Caldwell. I HATE celebrities who continue to lie even when the truth is SO obvious.

David Cook truly does represent all that the American Idol should be. He’s happy to be there, well spoken, and amazingly talented. I’m enjoying all his media.

annoula– i agree w/ backing down w/ the grammy/oscar stuff. i was actually kinda surprised he went there. twice now. not that i totally couldnt see him doing the acting thing, but lets get the cd off the ground first ok cookie?

well, i think there are pretty strict AI codes, both written and un-written, as to what these contestants can talk about right out of the gate. for instance, all the questions i have about future music and the fate of analog heart and his other recorded cd, are all off-limits for now. i’m sure the negotiations regarding much of it are going on even as we speak. and much of the more personal stuff, david obviously would prefer to keep private. so we’ll just have to wait for david’s music to say it all for him.

o/t– have heard the song on RD 3 times now in 2 days. would have prolly heard it more, but i do have to work and stuff. =)

also, even tho mj said it wasnt a good idea, i couldnt help myself and had to call 2 of my local radio stations to see if i could request it. here was what happened:

first station:
dj: “2nite at 10, we will have our battle royale (where one new song goes up against another, and the listeners call in to pick their fave one). if he wins that, you’ll keep hearing the song.”
i dont know who he is going up against, but no way they are better than cookie.

second station:
dj: “once the song starts moving up the charts, we’ll start playing it.”
me: “how can it move up the charts if radio wont play it?”
dj: “oh, i’m sure it will.”
then i thought to myself, hell isnt it number one on itunes?? cant move up much more than that!

anyway, i’m now patiently awaiting 10 oclock so i can vote (again).

I have not heard him sound off at all in all the singing and interviews since last week. He is very consistent and hits that falsetto just perfect every time. I love that he is singing the song that was his choice for the finale and was criticized for it by the judges. Way to stand up and be yourself. I think you have a wonderful career ahead of you Mr David Cook! Rock on and we will follow.

Agree…I have his live ToML and the studio version next to each other on my playlist and he’s just as note perfect live as he is on the record…and has been so far in every live performance. He’s just so effortless

Pretty, pretty version of TWIK today on Ellen…the sound quality was kind of yuck on my TV (piano and guitar sounded tinny) but it must’ve sounded beautiful live.

Does anyone know how much of Chris Daughtry’s original pre-Idol band was able to be a part of DAUGHTRY. Just curious. I don’t think Taylor was able to do anything with his old group, but he is just now getting to do what he wants his own way after Idol.

I think by an oscar he is meaning for a movie score, not acting. Like Annie Lennox did for The Return of the King, and Enya did for The Fellowship of the Ring, etc. Guess that gives away a trio of movies that I love:)

I don’t know about Daughtry’s band (I believe they were all new guys?). Taylor’s keyboard player, Brian Less, did get to join his tour band for the spring 2007 dates.
