The Stand Up To Cancer telethon, that aired on most of the major networks a few weeks ago, was so jam packed with celebrities, that David Cook’s short, pre-taped spot was cut. The SU2C website is posting all the spots after the fact. You can also check out Cook’s spot on You Tube, after the jump.

In the video, he asks the audience, “If you could stop your brother, your sister, your mother, your father, your husband, your wife, or your child from the anguish of cancer, would you?” He says he’s there “standing up for his brother Adam” and asks the audience to “stand up with me for the ones that you love.”

It’s effective. Check it out after the jump.

A very powerful message…too bad it didn’t get a chance to air during the TV broadcast. I think the Stand up to Cancer special should have been at least two hours. Anyway, thanks Cookie for your powerful message and devotion to this cause. :thumbup_tb:

    Poor thing looks exhausted.

  • ShariG

I’m really sorry that this didn’t air. I watched the whole thing looking for David’s minute. He is so articulate and sincere. It was a great cause and I would have watched anyway, but I was really hoping for a DC moment. Thanks for posting his message.

He does look exhausted and (whispers) his hair looks funny. Did they back-comb it?

Well, at least this way he prolongs the attention for the cause.

  • J

    very well done

  • EmmaJK

Eloquent, sincere and touching. I wish they could have fit his 30 seconds into that show somewhere. Did we really need that Simpsons skit?

And he does look exhausted. Although, he’s looked exhausted to me pretty much since May.

I like that he cut to the chase – If you could stop a loved one from the anguish of cancer, would you and how much would you give – Can’t get more succinct than that.

Poor sleepy cookie…come here and lay your head in my lap and take a nap :innocent1_tb:

ITA AInoob. Guh. Even this short little video spot can do me in. Sincere, honest, straight to the heart of the matter. I would MUCH rather have seen this from Cook than that unbelivably idiotic Simpsons crap or that prostate exam sketch. Sheesh. Thank you, Dave.

It was really nice of David Cook to do this. Go DC!

Thanks for posting this mj. :smile_wp:

thank you for the youtube link. couldn’t see it on the website.
that’s really moving. they should have aired this on TV

  • Patchchat

So glad that his looking like he’s about the drop didn’t diminish his message. Lovely, lovely man!

  • GEEK4VOCAB

    He is lovely, isn’t he?

I can’t figure out how to donate for one of his teams or in his name. Anyone have a tip?

  • IGetCranked

Aw Cook! He’s so well spoken.

  • FolkFan

Search in the teams area for Cook. (Not David Cook, because a couple of the teams were in honor of David and Adam together.) There were three teams, I think, honoring Cook?

  • GEEK4VOCAB

Thanks for the help. I just donated to Briget Browne’s Cookie Jar.
