In an interview with OMG Yahoo in Manila, Philippines, David Cook talks about how making his last album, This Loud Morning, was such a therapeutic process, helping him to deal with the loss of his brother, Adam, to brain cancer in 2009.

In Part 2, David shares his thoughts on Pinoy Idol singers, Ramiele Malubay (from his season), Thia Magia and Jessica Sanchez. He calls Jessica “scary good.” He also comments on the “White Guy With Guitar” meme.

And for a few lulz, watch David’s appearance on  appearance on an Indonesian talk show, Dahsyat. Trust me, it is FULL OF LULZ as he judges a talent show.  David is in the country now, performing as part of his Southeast Asian tour today.

On another topic, a Fade Into Me video has just been uploaded from the Jakarta concert.

Wow, he definitely put a different spin on that one.

But I also think he seems happier now than even last year, when TLM came out.

I thought he looked pretty unhappy during the TLM roll-out, to be honest. So, much, regarding his career, that has come after hasn’t been the biggest surprise. But, of course, hindsight is 20/20. Heh.

Maybe it was just posted today, I’m sure someone would have found it if it up sooner.    I also thought it was interesting it was on Fuse, that is terrific promo for him.

Here’s a very nice video of ABMB Jakarta.  (But I really liked the Cebu ones with just David.)

Thanks for posting ABMB Jakarta. I heard/saw it on the ustream but this is soooo much better. What a doll DC is… Sharing the stage with Regina and Yeng (in Manila) for his most beloved song in that region of the world.

Oh my God…That alternate ending to Fade Into Me is so beyond beautiful! It truly takes my breath away!
I’m so glad David seems so happy! So glad he got to go on this tour! He was truly treated like a Rock Star and the fans were amazing!!

I just watched the Fade Into Me video, it was one of the best I’ve seen, both the performance and video were incredible. Love the changes he made at the end.

“He was truly treated like a Rock Star and the fans were amazing!!”

That’s true, nspiredbycook. From the Flying Phalanx of Burly Dudes who got David in and out of those crowds at the Cebu and Manila CD signings, to the reported Police Escort through the legendary Jakarta Traffic, the promoters took good care of him, and the fans in each city couldn’t have been more welcoming and enthusiastic. The Mayor showed up at the Cebu City concert, and a representative from Creative Disc, which does music media in the Philippines,  Indonesia, and other areas was at the final show in Jakarta.

So far, all the major newspapers in Manila have given that concert great reviews, we are awaiting the Cebu and Jakarta write-ups, but it looks good for a return visit, if David wants to go back again.  TLM was the #1 selling foreign album for the last week, even beating the infamous One Direction. All in all, a successful trip, IMO.

    So, suck *that,* RCA!

Well, that was fun. Liked all the video, even thought I didn’t know what was going on most of the time. David looked great and sounds wonderful. I like the way he did Fade Into Me too. Been a great few days here. So much good David stuff!

I haven’t been following what’s happening with his band, but I noticed that the drummer looks different, have the band members changed? Or did he not bring his old band mates with him?

Andy Skib’s still there and has been from the beginning. In fact, he co-wrote David’s newest single with him and another mutual friend.

Monty Anderson’s been there since the middle of the last tour (the Declaration tour) and, of course, he knew and worked with David before Idol.

Neal left David’s band after the roll-out of This Loud Morning, before the tour with Gavin DeGraw. He had been working with another band off and on and decided to join them full time. Their music is harder rock which is much more in Neal’s wheelhouse, plus, since they are an indy band which was just starting up, I’m sure Neal has much more say on their artistic and logistical direction. So, Devin Bronson came on board with David right before the GDG tour. He was the lead guitarist and music director for Avril Lavigne.

Kyle left David’s band in early spring of this year. There were various reasons mentioned. He did seem to be very homesick for his wife and young children while on tour. I also think he needed steadier income then David could offer *at that time.* So, I think he’s staying at home more, working there. But, I do understand that he’s also joined a Christian band which is *his* interest. As you might know, he’s deeply religious. So, Nick Adams signed on to replace Kyle right before David’s Idol appearance. He also works with another indy band.

Thanks for the information.  I didn’t know that Kyle left, sort of knew that Neal went off to do something else, but wasn’t sure if it’s anything permanent.  I see that Monty is still wearing a hat to hide his bald head.

One thing you can count on is impermanence … regardless of one of Dave’s signature songs. Even Monty has lately been switching his hat off and on.
