David Cook ran in the Race for Hope this morning in Washington DC. It’s his 4th year participating in the event that raises funds to eradicate brain cancer. David’s team raised almost  $80,000 for the cause.  You can still donate on David’s team page.

David runs in honor of his brother Adam Cook who succumbed to the disease on May 2,  2009,  just hours before he ran in the 2009 Race for Hope.

After finishing the race, David tweeted, “Great weekend!  Thanks to everyone involved for helping make it that way.”

Last night, David performed an acoustic concert for the “Night Of Hope” fundraiser. Check out his performance of the moving “Permanent” below.

No, that’s what I saw at first in your post – and it didn’t work on this blog til it was changed to just the clear address for the video. Then I was able to click on it.

    And much appreciated too!

Thanks for posting GTTG with the backstory.

It’s a beautiful song – my favourite on the record.

    It’s waters run deep.

Thanks for Goodbye to the Girl with the back story, Sandy

One of my favorite songs ever, among all artists.  Beautiful.  Appreciate the back story.

ETA: Oh yeah, the back story and singing before Fade Into Me are not to be missed! So fun! The performance of the song is also neat, of course.

Just happy and relieved to hear directly from him what he said before telling  the story of the new song “From Here To Zero” about the song they will perform on Isol“The Last Song I’ll Write For You” which doesn’t mean I’m retiring or anything like that. So it’s not about that. Thank God! This is the whole transcribed banter http://goo.gl/xZMti

Thanks for bringing that, iani. I see the Transcription Project is off to a good start – that NoH Concert will be the source of a lot of items of interest. IMO.

So apparently Cook’s team has raised over $500K in the four years he has been involved.

Half a million is a lot of money for research.  I’m sure that probably counts as one of his biggest accomplishments.

before this thread goes away completely, I’m just coming back to say how gorgeous David looks in the videos.  and so proud of us fans for focusing on the music and storytelling and not on the looks. lol

“Half a million is a lot of money for research.  I’m sure that probably counts as one of his biggest accomplishments.”

Wow, standtotheright, I hadn’t ever added up the cumulative donations from Team Cook over the last four years. Half a million? What a tribute to David’s advocacy, and all the people who support this cause – one donation at a time.

I have to agree – that’s a big accomplishment – and I have to believe, David would also agree with you. Because:

“Who knows how long this ride lasts for anybody and if I can walk away
knowing that I helped promote change in something that I am passionate
about, that’s better than any plaque or trophy or award.”
