David Cook performed at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City Utah after the Real Salt Lake soccer match last night.

David’s concerts have been few and far between since he’s settled down to write his next album, due out later this year. David’s set list included:

1. “I Did it For You”
2. “Mr. Sensitive”
3. “Heroes” (W/ Champagne Supernova)
4. “Light On”
5. I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight
6. “Bar Ba Sol”
7. “Come Back to Me”

He also sang the National Anthem before the soccer game. Watch the video after the jump. I’ll add more videos as they roll in this morning.

Here’s Jsalow2 video of SSB which has really good video & audio.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/jsalow2#p/u/3/JKpNAMd_sj0

He also has 3 videos of the concert up so far, but with distorted base line.

And I’ve seen some nice pics, here’s one for ex.: http://yfrog.com/1xpzmwj

  • _nyanyanie

    oh yey! thanks mj!

hopefully, some close up vids will come in soon!

just realized how much i’ve missed this dude and his band..

when andy tweeted a photo of kyle the awesome sauce drummer, it felt like i haven’t seen him in years… & probably because he doesn’t have a twitter..

i definitely missed the declaration tour – - – and this comin from a person who barely checks cellcast, watch only 75% percent of concert vids and only if any interesting deets happens..

damn! really need the new record now! waah..

and i’ll forever thank the person who forced/set up david’s twitter account.. it helped me a lot to get through..

  • maturin

THAT VOICE. Guh. So effortlessly lovely. Can’t wait for next record!

  • wordnerdarchie

kmwUT has several nice pics posted. How about this? http://twitpic.com/1vidk6

barbdwyre ‘s channel has several videos up, but she was far away, so the visual’s are poor. However, the audio is better than those that were up close. Here is “Heroes” w/Champagne Super Nova: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C1tYuHkxA8 and one with audio only of “Light On”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8vO0D8pW8o

  • Tess

That NA was extremely well done….Cookie has really come along way since he did the NA with Andrew those many months ago. You can hear the “maturity” in his voice and see it in his style….all of those concerts really paid off for him.

  • http://www.dancin.ca dancin

    wtg cookie :)

  • tierbee

Woohoo, Cookie vids! He has come a long way since he did that NA right after he won and swore never to do it again ;)

At least I have the World Cup to distract me… that’ll get the Busch Garden show (well, shows, but shhhh) here faster. Miss this guy, but *really* looking forward to new music.

    *Back to watching videos happily*

I am exceedingly fond of the money note face, lol.

Ouch!, Cook sounds flat. He didn’t go for the glory note which is the killer part, but at least he knows his limit when it comes to his range. Are there better links?

I thought he sounded lovely on The Star Spangled Banner.

  • Trina

Yep he’s never hit a glory note, like ever.

David was in incredible voice last night, SSB and all!

Sorry, but I wasn’t meant to be funny I thought the SSB was just OK, didn’t really hit it out of the park for me. Usually at the glory note
the crowd goes super bonkers. I also checked out the other videos and he still yells and looks like he’s releasing kidney stones. Very annoying to hear that on every song. Oh well, looking forward to his next CD and hope it is not a repeat of his first.

I’m thinking you’re probably not going to like his 2nd CD either :) since you’re bound to get plenty of kidney-stone-notes. Heh. Some voices work for your ears, some don’t; sounds like what I love about his voice (I like some grit in a male vocal) might be exactly what turns you off.

No, It has nothing to do with the grit of the voice because I think Daughtry kinds of fall in the same vain but for some reason I can listen to him. So maybe your right it could be just Cooks voice.

  • leome

He sounded great. His glory notes are even more powerful than before. The rest has done him good and this sounds like a great time to record the album. His voice sounds really strong.

David was in incredible voice last night, SSB and all!

    I agree, David Cook’s amazing! :)

  • wellhesback

David Cook’s tweet last night after show was cool –
“Thank you so much for tonight, SLC!!! Lovin’ all the love! Now… It’s record time!!! ”
YES – It’s record time. I think his voice sounded superb, just lovely tone, lots of power. If game hadn’t been delayed we probably could’ve gotten more songs. I missed seeing the guys in the band. Oh and David looked mighty fine. and I love that he talked about Archie!

Yeah, I’m not objective, but seriously I loved hearing a little of Cookie and the band. and well, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion at MJs!

  • leome

I Did It For You live is really amazing. I can’t stop listening to it. I love all the guitar jamming.

  • cheese

I kind of wanted to kick a soccer ball at Cookie’s massive skull when I saw there was no new song on the setlist, I’m not gonna lie. I can’t get too excited about songs he’s already played live 150 times : )

I am excited about pre-production for the new album starting this week. I hope we get a new single by August.

  • BornToBeWildAFL

Yeah, I’m not objective, but seriously I loved hearing a little of Cookie and the band. and well, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion at MJs! (of course I don’t go to Lambert threads & post how ridiculous I think he looks and sounds.)

I am not sure why Lambert was brought into this. I am entitle to my own opinion just like you have voiced your opinions on Lambert and my motives shouldn’t be questioned because I have never came to a David thread and bashed him, but to get back OT it has been a while since I heard David and since I know he is making a new album I wanted to hear what was up with him. No need to drag another Idol into this discussion.

but the re-worked I did it For You— i probably played it 500 times in my mp3 player.. never thought that i’ll listen to that song again…

Yeah David Cook Videos!!!! I really love the way David Sings. He really has been “gone” to long. (I know he really hasn’t been gone and he tweets often but I mean gone in the sense that he hasn’t really performed in awhile in a concert were we can get video’s :-) ) I am really looking forward to he second CD. I believe he has more creative control on the second album so we will get one the truly reflects David the Artist. I am one of the lucky ones who got the Analog Heart album and let me just say if he does have the creative control we are all in for a treat. Beside being a fantastic performer and singer, from a guy’s viewpoint, David has always given me the wiser, more put together, brother/Best Friend vibe. (oh and uber talented) His last album (the one after American Idol) though all the songs weren’t great David had the ability to make them sound better then the were and had me really enjoying them. (one of the qualities that Adam has too. Hmmmm maybe that is why I love both of them) Anyway David get your new album out soon or at least a single! Geez I am rambling just so happy to see David C perform again. :-)

  • tierbee

I Did It For You live is really amazing. I can’t stop listening to it. I love all the guitar jamming.

Yeah, I do not like the song at all on the album – but what they’ve done with it live is awesome.

  • IndyMuse

I have perfect pitch myself, and David was most assuredly not flat. The glory note I think you were looking for is not in the song as originally written, it is an embellishment to showcase a voice. David always sings it as written out of respect for the song. He was not avoiding some vocal shortcoming.

  • Joyed

I have always loved I Did It For You (yes, even the recorded version). I really like the rhythm of the song – it is fun to walk around to in the city.

I rarely watch concert vids unless it is a new song or the audio is so amazing I want to rip it for mp3, but I watched these because I was really curious what the vibe would be like in the stadium/arena.

I really enjoyed how they designed the lighting and how they staged the different songs. It looked like a fun energetic vibe – it was fun to vicariously enjoy the show through the audience’s enjoyment.

Best of all, the new record is starting to be recorded – yay!

  • tierbee

Geez I am rambling just so happy to see David C perform again.

I know how you feel. And I just saw him in May at Race for Hope… but not the same as him performing :) . I am excited to hear what he has in store for us on his new record. I don’t know if I can really bother to angst at this point, I just want new music.

  • movin2thabeet

cheese, I understand your sentiments (although expressed a bit violently for my tastes), but I completely understand why they didn’t play any of their new stuff yet. They’ve yet to fully complete any new material nor record the final version of anything (to our knowledge). They might not have even decided what the next single is going to be. Plus that, this crowd was primarily new to seeing and likely even hearing David’s music, so it made sense to play more familiar stuff that they can go home and purchase.

I think new material is more likely to be played at venues with primarily diehard fans. My big question is I don’t know if the August Busch Gardens gigs in Virginia fit that criteria. I do think that crowd will at least have a much greater percentage of fans than a concert after a soccer tournament in Utah.

  • tierbee

David always sings it as written out of respect for the song. He was not avoiding some vocal shortcoming.

IndyMuse, I totally agree. He sings it straight, always has, I suspect always will. I don’t want to drag over the “range” videos but he certainly has the range to hit a glory note if that’s what he wanted to do. He just doesn’t. He keeps it simple :)

  • tierbee

I think new material is more likely to be played at venues with primarily diehard fans. My big question is I don’t know if the August Busch Gardens gigs in Virginia fit that criteria.

I don’t know how many new ears will be there but I’ve seen plenty on Twitter, etc. with a lot of fans I know or know of getting airplane tickets and getting rooms so they can go. I’ll certainly be there :) So if he wants to do some new stuff… that’s good by me. Hopefully he’ll have a single out by then? Maybe?

  • TexasWannaHoldEm

I’m really late to the “Cookie” party (over a year, ha!), but after he performed during Rolling Stones week on AI this season, I gotta say I was very impressed. I really like his voice, his music, and his stage presence. He’s now one of my AI faves :)

  • movin2thabeet

tierbee, Good point about the single. It should be released by then, so at the very least, they’ll be performing that song, and maybe (hopefully) some other new gems that have got the green light for the next record.

We Cook fans don’t care how late you come to the party. We’re just glad you’re here now. Party on, dude!

  • consumedbywords

I thought he sounded fantastic last night, even through the livestream. The downtime has really helped his voice (and made me realize how tired his voice must have been by the end of the never-ending tour). Even Light On, which has been a pretty challenging song for him to sing live, seemed effortless.

I can’t wait for the next record.

  • wellhesback

Tierbee – you guys are on point regarding how DC does the Anthem. I’m so glad he chooses to sing it the way he does. And he’s certainly hit many glory note, beautifully.
by the way – I never heard the term ‘glory note’ til I started looking at Idol stuff after seeing Cookie on idol.

  • standtotheright

So if he wants to do some new stuff… that’s good by me. Hopefully he’ll have a single out by then? Maybe?

I’m expecting he’ll play the new single because it should be out by then (I just can’t see them pushing the album drop too far into October unless they absolutely have to, and a late July/August single would be adequate lead time), but I’m honestly not expecting anything else. He threw a cover into a seven-song setlist last night just to keep a casual audience; lots of unreleased material at BG seems inconsistent with his MO. (Fans may be going, but the nature of the show itself insures a reasonably casual audience, in my view.)

I’m so glad the guys got to do a show again. Seriously wish that they wouldn’t end these things with CBTM. It was really not of a piece with the rest of the set, but it would have been less obvious if they’d put it in the middle.

  • k4dc

That SSB was genius. Loved it! Just enough emoting to make it interesting without all the vocal runs to cover up the fact that the person can’t really hit all the right notes. Clean, pure, and just beautiful. This is the SSB that I KNEW Cookie could do!

I’m so excited that they’re finally getting into the studio. I need new music!!!

  • Bethlyn

Ahhhhhhh! Love me some Cookie! Cannot wait for his next album!

Wonder why he never plays Lie or Avalanche.

  • standtotheright

Wonder why he never plays Lie or Avalanche.

Bethlyn, Lie was actually one of the most consistently played songs on tour. I think he wanted to get away from having very ballad-heavy sets, so he would usually play Lie or Avalanche, but not both, with Lie getting much more play. I personally think that Lie is a better song, even if Avalanche is a better recording, so I was fine with that.

As for last night: It was a short set after a sports game, so he wanted to keep it fairly high energy. CBTM was as low-key as it got.

  • listen

I thought Cook sang the SSB fust fine. That is how Cook sings it.
Still think he has one of the best voices to come out of AI.

And here I thought I was the only one who liked the recorded version. :-)

  • movin2thabeet

Bethlyn, He played Lie at almost every gig on the Declaration Tour. But, yeah, Avalanche was rarely played and I’m not sure why. But this was a mini-concert in a soccer field for alot of casual soccer fans who never heard David before. It wasn’t the setting for songs like Lie or Avalanche, especially given the brief time allotted for them to play which might have been cut short by the 30min+ rain delay.

  • Incipit

Sorry, but I wasn’t meant to be funny

BornToBeWildAFLI know you didn’t ‘mean’ to be funny, but here’s the reason this

at least he knows his limit when it comes to his range

    was amusing.

There’s a young man in the Philippines who has been documenting David’s range, with examples, for going on two years. He just posted a video last week called Higher Notes, where he compares two versions of the same song – the last one before that was in April, Vocal Range (F#2 – Eb5) NEW! Both include examples of that amazing rendition of “Permanent” with the B4 – a note higher than the studio version, and examples of higher notes than that.

No, I don’t speak the language of music notation as he does, but Enan includes a snippet of David singing every note, so it’s in context, helpful for the technically challenged like me to become familiar. – Enan posts his compilations on DCO, and on youtube. (with a new name, davidcooksrange) David Cook fans are mostly very aware of what his demonstrated range is, and as long as Enan continues to update, we will stay that way….even the technically challenged among us. (like me)

Now, if you just don’t prefer his voice, that’s subjective, and another matter entirely. We all have our preferences, KWIM? ;)

  • BootStar

Thanks for the Cook thread, MJ!

I’m glad somebody out there likes “Come Back To Me” because that song blows. Give me kidney-stone-passing David any day of the week over that cheese.

Is it me or did David have a more pronounced vibrato in his voice last night than we’re used to hearing? Unlike a lot of people, I prefer some vibrato to the flat tone of somebody like Lee DeWyze, but apparently it’s considered “bad singing” these days, so I’m kind of surprised that David is revealing his so much. Or maybe it’s just the video quality, LOL.

  • wordnerdarchie

Is it me or did David have a more pronounced vibrato in his voice last night than we’re used to hearing?

When his voice is more rested, he has more vibrato. When he’s more strained he seems to throw in the “rock” – “gritty” voice more. Last night during the SSB we got his rested “classic theatre” voice. When in good voice, he can turn it on & off at will.

I’m glad somebody out there likes “Come Back To Me” because that song blows.

Well, I just love “Come Back To Me” and *whispers* kind of hate WOHWWS. I guess it’s a good thing that he has a wide range of songs to keep ALL of his fans happy. ;)

    BornToBeWildAFL:
Ouch!, Cook sounds flat. He didn’t go for the glory note which is the killer part, but at least he knows his limit when it comes to his range. Are there better links?

Really? That was an amazing rendition of the NA. He sings it the way it is meant to be sung and Cook has a 2.5 octave range. Much better and in key than some other performances of the NA that I have seen.

  • k4dc

I noticed that too. I personally like SOME vibrato in a voice – to me it’s the sign of a good, controlled singer (I have absolutely no vibrato at all in my voice so I really notice it) – but too much tends to make a person sound “goaty,” ala Casey and sometimes Daughtry.

I do think David did have more vibrato in his voice on the SSB than he normally does, but I think, for that song, it was fitting and just the right amount. IMO.

  • BornToBeWildAFL

BornToBeWildAFLI know you didn’t ‘mean’ to be funny, but here’s the reason this

at least he knows his limit when it comes to his range

And that is an accurate statement. Very few people can hit that one
major note. The fact that he knows his limit just tells me that he knows how to use his voice and that is something that is not to be taken as a negative.

I’m glad somebody out there likes “Come Back To Me” because that song blows. Give me kidney-stone-passing David any day of the week over that cheese.

I swear I love that song :). I also love that song he sang last summer at the GMA, I don’t know if it was Lie but it was the remake of tell me lies the one with Kris and Adam. I love that tone in him. It is just when he goes above his range were I feel he loses me but I do like Cook I just don’t have to like everything.

ETA: I’ll take that cheese and a good glass of wine any day. :)

  • cheese

I thought David sounded lovely on the SSB, but, I it’s kind of unusual for a rock singer to do such a straight version. I think it might be why it sounds flat to some.

  • standtotheright

and *whispers* kind of hate WOHWWS

Everybody has preferences, but it’s always odd to me when fans say this. To me, that song is the one of the most Cookian Cooksongs that ever Cooked, and I am fervently hoping that it showing up on ASCAP means that other songs that are being written are going to complement it in some way.

And I’d be perfectly happy to see CBTM consigned to the dustbin of history. I like Maloy well enough, but he really should have worked out his issues with that girl without dragging his friends into it. Heh.

The one thing that I will say is that the next album won’t keep all his fans happy. I can live with me being one of the ones on the outs, as long as he’s satisfied with it. (Of course, I’m hoping that a lot is right in my wheelhouse.)

I’m really waiting on pins and needles to see what direction he’s going to go with DCTR2. I’m REALLY hoping it’s more of a heavier rock bent. Which yes, I know, will definitely not please all his fans. But for MY sake, I hope it’s so, LOL.

  • seriously

Well I’m a HUGE Cook fan for going on three years, and I am indifferent to Come Back to Me. It does nothing for me. The same for Light On. I just hope it’s not my subconcious hating those songs just because I know Cook didn’t write on them. LOL

  • AIaddict

Oh man, I have been waiting to see him perform again so thanks for the videos. He sounds great! Old songs, new songs, whatever it’s good to see him again.

  • wordnerdarchie

My problem with WOHWWS is just one line in the lyrics, that makes no sense to me at all. If it was different, I’d have no issues with the song. Musically, it’s fine. It’s kind of like how some people can’t get past the “magic rainbow” line, or “the wind in your hair” line.

I don’t know if it was Lie but it was the remake of tell me lies the one with Kris and Adam. I love that tone in him. It is just when he goes above his range were I feel he loses me but I do like Cook I just don’t have to like everything.

Now I’m perplexed that you really liked “Little Lies” at the GMA’s, because he threw in more grit into that vocal than normal and the upper range on that song is up to Db5. I don’t think he sang anything higher than that last night (in fact, most were lower), and he did it with better tone and less grit than usual. So I would have thought you’d enjoy it like “Little Lies”. *shrug*

BornToBeWildAFL – That song that David, Adam, & Kris sang on GMA was a cover Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies”. I love that too. I’ve rewatched that on youtube a ‘few’ times…

and I respect your opinion, and (believe it or not) I don’t like every single thing Cookie does either.

  • unidentified

Yay, Cookie singing! It’s been so long, how I’ve missed that voice. I was even happy to hear “Come Back To Me” & I kinda hate that song, even though he sounds good singing it.

  • suenigma

I said it last night in the headlines thread, but for me that was the best SSB from any male Idol contestant ever, BY FAR. And I really did not care for his NBA SSB – too much gravel, strain, nerves and rockstar. He embraced his inner theatre geek last night, and the result was soaring but controlled, dynamic, and pitch perfect. Even through crappy youtubes. Oh, for it to have been televised…

Bootstar: Is it me or did David have a more pronounced vibrato in his voice last night than we’re used to hearing? Vibrato is a very important tool in an operatic singer’s arsenal. It is most definitely not seen as “bad singing”. It is only thus when it is over-pronounced, or used as a crutch to hit certain notes. There is good vibrato and bad vibrato and David demonstrated very, very good vibrato last night.

Was it “Amidst the chaos in the mirror, the lies in lipstick red”?

Because I always pictured him staring at himself, wondering how things went so horribly wrong, while she’s still putting on lipstick and trying to pretend that everything is fine.

  • tierbee

Is it me or did David have a more pronounced vibrato in his voice last night than we’re used to hearing?

Maybe he was skeered, between having to sing the National Anthem (you know it still makes him nervous) and the guy yelling at him about Archie? :) (Of course maybe he was trying not to *laugh* at the guy yelling at him about Archie).

Very few people can hit that one
major note. The fact that he knows his limit just tells me that he knows how to use his voice and that is something that is not to be taken as a negative.

Having listened to David more times than I would ever confess, I can say with some confidence that he could have hit a “glory note” higher than the range where he was singing the anthem. He just didn’t. I think your comment was taken as a negative by some folks because it came after “Ouch!, Cook sounds flat.”

  • suenigma

Hahaha. You are most definitely not a “T”, and as far as I can tell that SSB only sounds “flat” to one person, which is cool. It was objectively beautiful, IMO. Twitter was exploding with non-fan reactions to Cook last night, and the preponderance were raves.

  • wordnerdarchie

Maybe he was skeered, between having to sing the National Anthem (you know it still makes him nervous) and the guy yelling at him about Archie?

BornToBeWildAFL, I do want to thank you for stimulating some good topics for discussion this morning. It gave all of us fans a reason to extol why we do like Cook’s voice, performance style, tone, etc. I hope you weren’t feeling too jumped on.

“Amidst the chaos in the mirror, the lies in lipstick red”

No, that wasn’t the line. I’ll just keep it to myself. I wouldn’t want to sway anyone else against the song, if it would happen to make the next record.

  • BornToBeWildAFL

Now I’m perplexed that you really liked “Little Lies” at the GMA’s, because he threw in more grit into that vocal than normal and the upper range on that song is up to Db5. I don’t think he sang anything higher than that last night (in fact, most were lower), and he did it with better tone and less grit than usual. So I would have thought you’d enjoy it like “Little Lies”. *shrug*

I get what your trying to tell me, but to my ears “Little Lies” is just music to my ears. So I guess it’s just the songs and how they are song.

BornToBeWildAFL – That song that David, Adam, & Kris sang on GMA was a cover Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies”. I love that too. I’ve rewatched that on youtube a ‘few’ times…

  • tierbee

Maybe he was just a little tense because he was expecting an FU. Oh, that’s right. That came later in the middle of his performance of the SSB.

I can imagine he was expecting worse than that. Didn’t he comment in an earlier interview that he was hoping that the fans would be kind, or something like that? I can’t remember, sorry, my brain is incapable of holding anything other than cobwebs right now ;)

  • seriously

I think I know what it is. Anyway, I don’t think WOHWWS, Make Believe, or U and I will make the record. Cause of progression y’know?

  • suenigma

I just wanted to add that although that video has a nice close shot of Cookie, it it is too close get the full impact of the SSB IMO. I heard better sounding youtubes of it out there from further away.

I thought there was a slight touch of his “Music of the Night” voice in the SSB last night. Really pretty.

I did too – it was… rounded? Also how he enunciated. suenigma, thanks for that video, that sounded great from a little farther away.

I don’t think WOHWWS, Make Believe, or U and I will make the record. Cause of progression y’know?

I can sort of get that argument for WOH (even though it being up on ASCAP now, after all this time, says they must be using it for something), but Make Believe and You and I (refuse to spell it the other way) are just a few months old and have been heard by several hundred people, tops. Cook said straight out at Morongo that it was one of his favorite songs that they’d worked on for the record thus far.

Performing a song ten times, much less one time, in public, and then moving on, isn’t progression to me. It’s profligacy with creative energy.

Those songs might not end up making the album for any number of reasons, but not because I think he’s moved beyond them.

  • daenarys

I’ve been outa the loop soooooooo long, but one note and I’m sunk again. And he is as charming sweet articulate as always here:

    The djs definitely loved him!

And we get from the horses mouth why he missed the AI finale.

  • Brisblondie

Wow, I can’t wait to listen to everything again after reading all these comments! The SSB from what I could hear last night sounded so clear and strong.

I thought he did the perfect set for this crowd. All high energy, muscular rock songs – perfect for rocking out to after your team won a big game – and peppered with a rocked up cover and two radio hits everyone knows and can sing along with. Add in Heroes that many recognize from being all over NBC sports commercials and you’ve got the perfect set for this event. Oh and all the entertaining banter. Yes. Very well played, Mr. Cook and The Anthemic.

Count me in as being one that really doesn’t like IDIFY on the record, but finds it pretty darn good live.

The sound isn’t that much better on the one you linked. Actually, it’s worse, because the video person kept interrupting the audio to take photos. Ugh.

  • Incipit

Brisblondie, I have to agree with your assessment, I was so curious as to what the set list would be for this target audience, and I think it all worked for the reasons you gave.

Now as to the banter – I’m still waiting for the remarks about the noise ordinance, and what Rio Tinto officials said about playing past 10PM – from twitter reports, it was an amusing choice of words.

  • wordnerdarchie

suenigma, the last video that you linked has really good audio except for the fact she snaps a couple of pictures in the middle of it which disrupts the flow of the song. I know people love to get performance pictures (and they’re videoing for themselves), but it does detract from the overall quality of the video.

It’s a very good day today. I have off, the sun is shining, and I got to wake up to a Cook concert thread on MJs. Oh how I’ve missed these particular white boys and their big ass guitars. (And bass. And drums.) And never without a little controversy. Feels like home. I think the vocal on the SSB sounded quite lovely. Probably a personal best for him with that song. Overall though, as I’ve said many times, I could GAS how people sing the SSB. It might make me unamerican or whatever, but my opinion remains that it’s a boring song, and there are many overly bombastic renditions that try to un-bore-ify it, and then it sounds ridiculous and overwrought. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, blah blah blahcakes.

Was it “Amidst the chaos in the mirror, the lies in lipstick red”?

Hahaha, that’s my favorite part of the song! I’m not even kidding. I love that imagery. Second favorite part would be “It’s a twisted game, a brief and oft repeating prose that never seems to resonate, spin the finger of blame, it’s always on the heart that kept on beating while the other pulled up lame….” I love me some WOHWWS, not gonna lie. Once upon a time I lived that song, is all I’m saying, so it struck a chord. I’m sad that it seems to have disappeared from more recent set lists, but at least we’ll always have Sunfest. And the ASCAAP appearance is interesting. CBTM remains my least favorite Cook song in his vast vast catalogue, including, like, Red Hot. But I did like the guitar embellishments Neil added on this version.

Did anyone catch the U Stream last night? Dave was on fire vocally and in general and the sound was surprisingly good. I enjoyed it, even if the stage lighting plus grainy video made the boys look like those glowy friendly alien creatures from Cocoon.

  • wellhesback

thanks so much for this thread, MJ. sorry I got carried away earlier.
seriously so happy to see these vid.s here. made my day.

  • Laurie

I am happy to have vids of DC again. He had a huge crowd that stayed for the concert. What a fun way to kick off the summer. I really enjoyed his SSB. Very nicely done David. I hate when people “junk” it up with too many runs and sh*t. I think it was at the Lakers game, Monica(SP?) did this really annoying version, and I just hated it.

David has such a great rock voice. I am always happy to hear him sing, no matter what he sings. I still enjoy DCTR, so I was happy to hear the songs again. I have a feeling his new record is going to be fantastic. I can’t wait. Oh, and David was so sweet to talk about Archie and plug his book! WTG.

ETA: I had no idea someone yelled that profanity out during SSB. Probably some drunk slob who would have yelled it out no matter who was singing. What a jerk. Or maybe it was a jealous boyfriend or husband that was sick of all the DC love coming from his girlfriend or wife! Ha Ha!

Cook you sang the NA beautifully! Loved it, I am such a proud Cook fan right now. On another topic, I think(I am not a music guru…so)DCTR has Cook’s signature sound(strip production, and songs he didn’t collab on). I remember many fans calling it AH on steriods. The new songs I have heard…pretty much signature style. Cook sold many cd’s because of his fans, but also cause the cd was pretty good. I am sure that this second one will be better…but will have his signature style. Seems like many fans are gonna be dissapointed expecting something radically different from Cook.

WOHWWS = We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping, one of the songs DC wrote that didn’t get on the record but was played many times on tour. I liked it, not one of my faves.

Went to the RSL Game and Cook show last night. He did great on the SSB, and put on a fun show. I actually had Game seats right behind the stage, but was able to sneak onto the field right up front and center for the concert. My friends who stayed at the bleacher seats said the sound was wonky back there.

Until I saw this video posted here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dcyuSVvZqc) I had no idea how many people were on the field! Wow. You can see me in there too. :) I was thrilled he did Bar-Ba-Sol, and all in all it was a great night.

*whispers back* I’m with you on that one. Not my favorite song. I also really don’t care for U and I (*ducks the tomatoes*).

That’s okay, I hate both of them AND “Come Back To Me.” Sorry, love the guy, love his voice, hate a lot of the songs. And I specifically hate “We’re Only Honest” because of that stupid “cold as hell” line, which may be what is being referred to here:

My problem with WOHWWS is just one line in the lyrics, that makes no sense to me at all. If it was different, I’d have no issues with the song.

Cold as hell? Is that supposed to be ironic? ‘Cause I just don’t get it. Sorry, just a bad lyric in my book.

Thanks for explaining that to us. My high school curriculum did not have me read that. It makes more sense to me now, but I still don’t care for the line. It falls flat for me.

  • BootStar

I had to read Dante in high school. The ninth circle of hell is ice, reserved for the betrayers.

Seriously? You think Cook was making an obscure reference to Dante in that song? Sorry, I think he’s a sharp guy, but I just don’t think that was his intent at all. I think it was just a “cold as hell” throwaway line like somebody would say “mad as hell.” Of course, I’d gladly stand corrected if somebody knows more about his thinking behind that song, but I’m having a hard time buying that argument.

I mean, no offense intended to David or any of his fans, but this is a guy who tattooed “The Dash” on his arm. I get the sentimental value of that poem to him, but I just don’t think a serious student of Dante would put that thing in indelible ink on a body part — not where somebody else could see it anyway.

  • standtotheright

I think it was just a “cold as hell” throwaway line like somebody would say “mad as hell.”

Which, as wellhesback pointed out, is a valid idiomatic expression. I’ve heard it many times, too. Plenty of cultures think of hell as a cold and gloomy place.

But I think he has been willing to use literary imagery and so it works on both levels.

ETA: I don’t care for the Dash poem, either, but somebody said he read Eco, and he read the Year of Living Biblically. I don’t think one needs to be Dorothy Sayers or Alexander Pope to know enough about the Inferno to make a reference to it. Or to use a very common idiomatic expression that takes its roots therefrom.

  • Keel

Cook was in great voice last night. Perfect time for him to head to the studio. This next album cannot get here fast enough.

ETA: Well, I really like WOHWWS. The sound is very indie Cook and the lyrics are definitely Cookian. I suppose I can see how the lyric “cold as hell” would fall flat to some ears, but to me, this is one song were the lyrics really make the song. So if some parts make you cringe, then I guess a lot of the appeal of the song goes away.

I am stupid beause I forgot my password and was waiting impatiently for a new password before the topic shift from WOHWWS. For me, the line ” Amidst the chaos in the mirror, the lies in lipstick red” means a chaotic writings on the mirror using a lipstick. May be a girl wrote on the mirror?

All good points, but I still hate the lyric and, thus, the song. :-(

And I get that it’s a “common idiomatic expression,” but that’s just one more reason I don’t care for it. I think we just have to agree to disagee on this one.

(But I do love the “lipstick red/read” lyric!)

  • http://www.myspace.com/rjveritas MrRJ

“Cold as Hell” is from Dante’s “Inferno”. At the bottom of hell the devil is entrapped by ice because his heart lacks the warm of love. So ‘cold as hell” makes perfect sense.

That’s okay. I love it enough for ten people. It pinged for me immediately.

And some of his lyrics have driven me spare. Just not in that song.

  • OmahaCookie

Maybe “cold as hell” didn’t come from Dante – maybe it came from Elton John – last verse of Rocket Man :)

  • sunchick

Ah. Well, Cookie’s not immune to clunky writing, but I have to agree with some that this isn’t one of those instances for me, for you. It could be a Dante-esque reference. Or, you know, often times oxymorons are used deliberately in writing to highlight a contradiction. And since the song is basically about exposing the contradiction between the happy face these people are showing to the world and the sad truth behind their eyes, how the distance between them is more apparent in the most intimate of settings, cold as hell works for me. He also uses “lying wide awake and dreaming” in the same way. Like, say, when Juliet finds out Romeo killed Tybalt and is expressing the dichotomy of her emotions she goes into this rant of oxymorons…

    “Beautiful tyrant! fiend angelical!
    Dove-feather’d raven! wolvish-ravening lamb!
    Despised substance of divinest show!…”

Thus concludes my fanwankery for the day, and I’m off to catch some rays and listen to tunes. Alas, though tis near 90 degrees, I fear the sun will burn cold today, as I was so hoping that a new Cookie tune would appear and be added to my iPod last night. ;)

  • wordnerdarchie

After reading Sunchick, it re-enforces again why I’m in the field of accounting. “Words” – not my area of expertise. I surrender regarding the line “cold as hell”.

Wow, Cookie must have been “cold as hell” in just his skivies! LOL couldn’t help myself. I actually like the lyrics and the song but doubt that will make this album if it didn’t make DCTR. I think Make Believe or You and I may be on the new album. I actually like both those songs.

  • movin2thabeet

I sure hope this loooong wait is worth it.

If DCTR2 is released in late September, early October, that would be just less than a 2 year gap between albums, which is not at all unusual even though it seems like a long wait to us.

You know this wait for the next record is only long by modern short attention span standards. When I was a young adult it would normally be a couple years between albums – with no leaks, twitters, or youtubes.

  • wordnerdarchie

Yippeee! Better audio and good visual. Thanks MJ for finding those new videos.

ETA: Those fans behind the stage got rewarded by David going up to meet them at the end of CBTM. That was super nice of him.

  • k4dc

You know this wait for the next record is only long by modern short attention span standards. When I was a young adult it would normally be a couple years between albums – with no leaks, twitters, or youtubes.

I don’t think we’d be twitching so badly now if David hadn’t originally predicted a June release date (which he did, I distinctly remember). It’s June, and nary even a single to be found (which he also predicted may come as early as April).

It’s taking longer than he predicted, I think, in part because of the huge rush that DCTR was recorded in. His experience is with that condensed time frame (as is ours).

I, for one, have never been such a huge fan of an artist – especially even BEFORE their major-label release – that I’ve had to chomp at the bit for new stuff like this. For example, I just recently discovered Muse (yes, I’m slow), and it delights me to have many, many albums worth of music to peruse and pick and choose my favorite songs from. We don’t have that luxury with DC yet (although I do have all his pre-Idol stuff too). I just want MORE!

  • Joyed

I actually wouldn’t really want We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping on the record, just because I am more interested in newer songs.

However, I’ve always liked the lyrics in the song. For me, the line “This bed is cold as hell” can be interpreted thusly:

When couples have a relationship die the relationship becomes cold – with cold = dying/death. So bed is cold = dead relationship.

The in hell part just indicates that having that relationship die painfully is hellish to go through.

Just my two cents, lol :)

Also, I absolutely love You and I and hope it makes the record!

  • Incipit

Hah! That “Bar Ba Sol video has the banter about the noise ordinance…on the cellcast I could only make out a few words of it.

If DCTR2, or whatever they decide to call the next album (which is a whole other subject) drops in September or October, then the first single won’t really be that far away…maybe around the time of the Busch Gardens gigs in August?

I like that thought, but I like any thought that means new David Cook music. ;)

  • fadetowhite

Aww – I love Cook lyrics. I like ‘cold as hell’: typical Cookian twist on an image, whether his inspiration was Dante or some saying he’s heard/read somewhere.

I even love his lyrics on some of the Axium songs, where the odd clumsiness/ cliche really jars with the poetic stuff.

And in any case, WOHWWS looks like a lyrical masterpiece when set against CBTM or LO!!!

In any case – great to see DC&TA back in concert and even greater to see such a big crowd enjoying the show. Onward and upward to DCTR2!

  • tierbee

then the first single won’t really be that far away…maybe around the time of the Busch Gardens gigs in August?

    Yes, please :)

  • Keel

Yeah, I was thinking the new single would be out by August, which is why they agreed to the two-night Busch Garden gig. *crosses fingers for uptempo rocking Cook instead of ballady Cook* Hope RCA finally gets out of his way this time around, but not holding my breath.

ETA: Those fans behind the stage got rewarded by David going up to meet them at the end of CBTM. That was super nice of him.

Wandering Dave! Do you think security peeps at these venues hate it when he does that? He does like to wander :)

  • k4dc

Hee hee…there’s a dude in the crowd in the Bar-ba-sol video that yells to Dave, “Take your shirt off!” then a little later screams, “I love you!”

LOL. I was listening to a TIB youtube and a few seconds after the opening chords the dude yells “My pony!!!”. I’m at a loss for words.

  • MollyAnnMay

I can’t watch the videos till later, but heard the SSB last night and thought it was one of the best versions I’ve ever heard. Not just for Cook, although it’s definitely the best he’s done IMO — for anyone. I truly dislike it when singers throw in extra notes and make the song into a performance that’s all about them.

sunchick: I love that imagery. Second favorite part would be “It’s a twisted game, a brief and oft repeating prose that never seems to resonate, spin the finger of blame, it’s always on the heart that kept on beating while the other pulled up lame….”

Huh. So that’s what those lines are. I have to start hunting down some lyric sheets, because that’s quite beautiful. I confess with the songs that have only been done in concert, I tend to just go with the music and not try to get all the words (even if DC enunciates better than a lot of singers, rock or otherwise). Which is different from how I normally experience songs because I love good, twisty, clever and/or heavy-on-the-imagery-type lyrics.

ETA: And put me in the camp that loves the “this bed is cold as hell” line (one line I did manage to understand, along with the line used for the title and the “lying wide awake and dreaming” line. All very evocative and yeah, lyrical masterpieces compared to “something-something the wind in your hair.”

  • MollyAnnMay

CBTM remains my least favorite Cook song in his vast vast catalogue, including, like, Red Hot.

*snickersnort* I think the play numbers for “Red Hot” on my Cook playlist are about ten times those for CBTM. I also think it’s interesting that in concert, he was able to take a song that he co-wrote, like “I Did It for You,” and rock the hell out of it to the point that I love it, whereas nothing they’ve ever done to CBTM can make me like it (except maybe those concerts where he lets the audience sing 3/4 of it, which amuses me).

It makes me wonder about a lot of things, like how he envisioned a song like IDIFY in his head when writing it, how that (possibly) *didn’t* get translated during production, and how it will hopefully be a completely different outcome (for his own songs, anyway) this time around. I agree that no matter what he comes up with, a segment of fans (and certainly non-fans, by definition) will not be pleased. I think if “You and I” is any indication, they’re going more Pop than Rock within the Pop/Rock genre and normally that’s not my cuppa* at all, but you know, hearing how fantastic his voice was last night, I just want to hear him *sing again* dammit.

*Although no matter how Pop they go, I’m sure the new songs will eventually get nicely dirtied up in concert. Which, yay.

  • spanishfan

Watching the videos and David has really matured as a performer. He is so steadfast and confident and the songs are much longer and broader.

Loving him more and more each time I hear him.

  • Brisblondie

Guh. Is it tonight yet?? I sooo want to watch these videos! I think I’m going to be up all night.

I love all his wordy mcword lyrics so much more than the stuff he so obviously didn’t pen. I really want to hear THAT on the next record. I’m trying to not get my expectations up for anything on this next record other than getting to hear his voice on some new stuff. Then hopefully I’ll be easily pleased with it. :)

By the way, there were supposedly 19,500 some odd people at the game last night, which turned out a rather large crowd for his after game show. Very cool!

David Cook – get back on my radio soon! GO!

  • tinawina

I love the lyrics to “We’re Only Honest”. His lyric writing on his pre-idol stuff is partly why I started following him. Love the quirky turns of phrase, the double meanings, all that stuff. I don’t like the melody as much… musically it seems ordinary. But I want to hear a studio version before I pass full judgment on that.

  • k4dc

tinawina, ITA. I love the lyrics of WOHWWS, it’s the melody that I don’t care for. Not catchy enough for me. You can have the most interesting lyrics in the world, but it the melody doesn’t catch my attention, I’m not going to stick around long enough to figure out what the lyrics are. And as a matter of fact, as much as I love interesting lyrics, I’ll still love a song even if I only understand five words out of the whole song, as long as it gets my feet a-tappin’. I guess I’m a little bipolar that way. ;-)

I must say I do like the studio version of WOH better than the live version – the little snippet I’ve heard of it, anyways.

  • fadetowhite

Yeah – agreed. But I think – from my pov anyway – that the music has always been the Achilles Heel in Cook’s output. The lyrics have always been great: as I said earlier, occasional clumsiness and descent into cliche aside. There are too many examples to quote of great lyrics from Axium, Analogue Heart, other pre-idol songs and even, in places, from DCTR.

If he had the musical abilities of an Elbow or a Florence and the Machine (both of whom have great, intelligent lyrics, proving that you don’t need to be bland and simplictic to be successful) or of a Snow Patrol, or a Greenday at their most accessible, he’d never have needed Idol.

ETA On consideration: I guess that last bit was kind of stating the obvious – like saying the sky is blue dammit! Must be letting my secret tardy tendencies out. But I’ll stick to the basic point: with better, stronger music, I think he could very easily have been signed earlier. I certainly get the feeling that Axium were moving in that direction a few times, but never actually got there.

I’m not gonna lie, that made me laugh out loud. Followed by weird looks from my family. (I think it’s the exclamation point that made me laugh)

  • Curlin

MollyAnnMay, I love the lyrics to WOHWWS too and someone on DCO was kind enough to post the version I have which was actually corrected by David himself. This happened in Feb 09 and I have a copy with his corrections on it. Is that too stalkerish? LOL

ETA. Listened to the SSB again. His best version yet. Cook can definitely hit the high notes but at times restraint can be a good thing!

Someone already mentioned it but I just thought it was too funny the stuff that one dude was shouting out during BarBaSol! Guess Cookie has some male fans after all. ;)

  • lydia

Breaking my no-logging-in-from-work rule because I am so happy to see live Cook again. Thanks for the thread MJ. I frankly don’t think he has ever looked or sounded better in the very few youtubes I was able to watch early this a.m. David looked overjoyed to be performing live again. His live performances, where he just exudes joy and inhabits his songs, are for me (for you?) what made me a fan in the first place. I also find it fascinating to watch a relatively ordinary looking guy with a wonderful voice transform into to someone sort of sexy rock god. I remember being gobsmacked during “Eleanor Rigby” and wondering why I suddenly thought this schleppy looking guy who I thought was a good singer was suddenly a hot superstar. I love following his career to see what happens next.

  • tierbee

LOL, that tweet from Hostess is hilarious, I hope he saw that :)

  • standtotheright

I think I like the WOH melody because, while it has typical pop chords, the progressions tend to trend lower when my ear “expects” them to go higher…less obviously catchy but more consistent with the downbeat mood of the lyrics, IMO. But I am admittedly a “lyrics first and last” person who ends up humming melodies other people ignore.

Anyway, not that I can really be all that downbeat after that tweet from Hostess. Apparently now they’re going to send him samples. Heeeeeeee.

  • Curlin

Lydia, I totally agree. Cook has this sexy swagger on stage and he doesn’t need any fancy costumes or whatever (not that there is anything wrong with that!). When he opens his mouth to sing he has me in the palm of his hand.

  • tierbee

I tried to laugh about the Hostess/Cook tweets in the headlines thread but it was closed :( so I’ll just bring my laugh here. I love picturing a box of Twinkies Bites showing up at his front door.

  • wordnerdarchie

tierbee, I was just going to post the following in the headlines thread to lighten the mood when I found out it was closed. :(

Anyone hungry for Twinkies right now?

  • tierbee

I could eat me a Twinkie right now. Not a 100 calorie one, though, thanks :) . There’s something deliciously disgusting about the regular ones, lol.

  • Curlin

Was just perusing some pics from last night…During the SSB, there is a little boy with his arms crossed looking a little upset, maybe an Archie holdout? LOL j/k Love how both Davids have nothing but nice things to say about each other over 2 yrs later.

  • wordnerdarchie

    Here’s some more Twinkies fun.

    Hostess_Snacks

@thedavidcook I think we’re going to have to send you some samples!!!

    itsjustMare

@Hostess_Snacks I think since he promoted your product, the least you can do is send @thedavidcook some samples.

    Hostess_Snacks

@itsjustMare we just might have to!

    Hostess_Snacks

In fact, (shameless plug) EVERYONE should try our 100 Calorie Packs Twinkie Bites!

Curlin: someone on DCO was kind enough to post the version I have which was actually corrected by David himself. This happened in Feb 09 and I have a copy with his corrections on it.

Oh wow, that was you? That was such a hilarious (and kind of awesome) story. I loved how he just had to stop everything (from what I read) and get all focused on correcting those lyrics. If that’s stalkery, that’s the kind of stalking I highly endorse — talk about it being all about the music. Good job. ;-)

lydia, I’m breaking my no logging in at work rule too. I won’t tell if you won’t. Thanks for enabling delinquincy in the workplace the thread, MJ. *g*

but dang, nice to see that point of view… thats a lot of people..

i love that song.. first time heard it, nah.. didn’t dig it..

but this WOHWWS was my favorite version…

same with I did it for you, i like the one from knoxville? IDIFY

  • Curlin

MollyAnnMay, no it wasn’t me actually…don’t think I worded my post too well. Don’t remember who it was but I saw it posted and printed it out. So that’s how it became my copy lol, sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • MollyAnnMay

    no it wasn’t me actually

Ohh, okay. I’m sure it wasn’t what you wrote but how I read it — that’s what I get for skimming at work…

    Still a cool story though!

  • tinawina

Yeah – agreed. But I think – from my pov anyway – that the music has always been the Achilles Heel in Cook’s output. The lyrics have always been great: as I said earlier, occasional clumsiness and descent into cliche aside.

I agree with this in a general way… I think he has composed really good melodies/interesting music in the past but not as consistently as he has written some really good lyrics. I think when given more time, he has a bigger possibility of getting the two to collide. Its one of the reasons I am excited by the possibilities in this album. It’s also one of the reasons I don’t mind co-writers so much. He’s still learning how to craft catchy radio hooks. But he’s a quick study, so I expect he’s already a whole lot better than he was on his last record, which really wasn’t bad at all.

  • weareallinnocent

Oh god, I feel like a kid in a candy store! Thanks to everyone who had a hand in pulling this thread together. I can’t wait to watch the videos and have a Cook concert again, finally after so long!!

I have no idea when I’ll finally have time, but I’m definitely loving the anticipation. :-)

  • Pam

I love these vids even with the distortion of the bass sound. They are fantastic! I’ve missed seeing the vids. I’m getting antsy for the new album and a new single.

The exchange between Dave and the Hostess Twinkies people is just hilarious. It’s a shame he wants some low fat ones because I’ve got some delicious birthday cupcakes to unload on him but I suppose he wouldn’t want those. ;)

  • houstonrufus23

Sounds like Cook put on a great show! I have some friends who went and they had a ball. :)

  • wordnerdarchie

If you’re looking for a couple of more videos to watch, here are some good ones from Mystic Lake Casino in Minneapolis, MN. I enjoy going down memory lane. I hope Dave hits it again on his next tour. The venue had award winning sound and lighting. It’s one of my most memorable concerts, even though our seats were 2/3 of the way back in a 2400 seat venue. If you have free time, check out the rest the videos from that night.

  • http://whited-79.livejournal.com WD

Sounds like a great concert yesterday! Would have loved to hear a new song too, but then he is getting into studio for major label record no.2 so alas, we shouldn’t get too greedy. *smiles*

  • lydia

Home posting. Love David Cook, still think he is special. Thanks for the thread. I like lots of former idols, but DC is the only person I “ashamedly” tard over. I listened to the Walmart version of his post-Idol album today start to finish. I know there are some people who didn’t like this record, but given the time crunch recording schedule and the fact that the record was not recorded by an organically formed band, there are some very good songs recorded tht definitely improved with tweeking live. I may be fantarding, but I really think this sophomore effort will be excellent and a recording I can fully get behind. I am not naive enough to think that it will be universally accepted by music critics, Idol critics or the record buying public. Watching David’s career evolve has taught me that the most talented singers and musicians are not necessarily the most successful. (Toast to Melinda Doolittle).

My initially gradiose dreams for David and all the Idols I have loved have evolved to merely hoping for them to be able to make a living doing what they love, and hopefully making music I will enjoy and purchase.

Thanks for the thread, video links, lyric analysis, etc., everyone. Feels like old times, except, no HAIR discussion? What? ;)

Back to impatiently waiting for a single.

  • davidlove

Dang, sad the David’s couldn’t get together for this concert! I’m just an hour or so away and love some Cookchuleta.

  • offside

But I am admittedly a “lyrics first and last” person who ends up humming melodies other people ignore.

Me too, standtotheright! I’ll take an interesting melody in favor of a catchy one anyday. I think the combination of David’s lyrics and Neal’s music would be awesome, as well. Neal has written some really interesting melodies.
We already have zillions of pop artists around; do we need another?
When you see David and band’s live show, what do you get? I would say a definite rock vibe, so why not let him try to go more in that direction?

    That NA was wonderful!

  • BootStar

Feels like old times, except, no HAIR discussion? What?

That’s because his hair looks GOOD. (IMO, of course. YMMV, etc., and so forth, yadda yadda yadda . . . )

Edit isn’t my friend today.I just wanted to add that I really liked the ending of CBTM at the SLC concert!

  • Incipit

Over a thousand new followers on Twitter since the SLC mini concert – and much appreciation of the respectful and effortlessly elegant SSB out there on the webs. I Flove it – and having this thread to discuss it.

Studio time for DCTR2 starts today – it will be excellent cool if we get some updates from time to time – but however it shakes out, this is fandamtastic. IMO. So ready to sing along to new music!

Imagine Carly Simon singing “Anticipation” – or singing about a condiment – whatever works for you – ;)

  • spanishfan

Thanks MJ and fellow Cook fans for all the videos and audios. Living in South Africa, I feel so isolated but this helps to spend the time watching him until the new album. As others have said, I like some other idols but David really has my full attention, as he did during the weekly performances, every week coming up with something different and his wonderful voice and tone just getting better and better. I play his cd over and over again.

  • wellhesback

have been busy and just now able to watch more of the vids from the show. David looks GOOD, sounds GREAT and the band ROCKS. want more!
