I forgot about that. He said done for the night. And this morning he said he’d be back. Not 100% sure that means he’s going to meet the family, but good indicators at least that he’d be back. Yay!! Can I squee? Squeee! I want to say the last time DC had a “TV spot” of some sort that was not a musical performance was that VH1 Free Radio show, and he was great. This show won’t be funny, but will show what a great guy he is, and gets WAY more ratings. Yay for more of America seeing that!

But in seriousness, I kid and make fun of the thinning hair a lot (he’s clearly got a receding hairline situation on the sides that he could cover a lot better with a good cut and some daily attention with good hair products if AI7 was any indication), but I think the thin flat hair looks kinda cute in this picture. Hehhehe… DC and his porcelain skin make him look like a fair princess who’s never lifted a finger next to the rugged, tan, leathery Ty. I think that’s why DC maintains the beard. To not overwhelm the rest of the world with the full glory of his pretty luminous skin. Hahahaha. See, I snark on the hairline, but at the end of the day, he always looks good to me. Can’t help it.

How could you ever believe that’s a rug? Because, let’s be honest, if you are going to go with a rug, why in the world would you choose one that’s thin, flat and has bald spots and a receding hairline that you have to comb over? If DC would just get over his pride or whatever (I may be making assumptions here), I think he’d be much happier in the long run (without having to fuss over his hair) if he just got hair plugs after the tour ended when he’s out of the spotlight for a little while.

I’m unconcerned with his hair. This is coming from somebody who doesn’t even remember her dad with hair…and I can remember when he was 28. He was fricking bald. Now I’m majorly concerned with his voice, and I don’t care what his hair looks like as long as his voice remains the same. I think one of the things that endears me to David Cook is that he’s not going to pretend he has no hair. He’s not going to pretend it’s more lush than it is. He’s about his voice and his band and he’s not about to try to appease superficial fans. I believe he knows he has enough fans without trying to win over those who would have him step n’ fetch it.

I don’t agree with the rest of your post, but hey, ^^ this still sounds better than what he had before AI: namely making $800 a month painting houses and bartending, half of which went to rent, living in a friend’s living room, struggling to get gigs where he played to 5 people. He gets to make a more than comfortable living playing music, without having to worry about a day job. From Forbes, he’s already a millionaire. I think it’s all gravy from here. He gets to use his celebrity for good, like be on this show, auction off signed guitars for good causes, sell charity singles and run races benefiting causes close to his heart like brain cancer research, visit childrens hospitals to bring joy to the kids, etc. etc. This kind of “moderate success” isn’t so bad! Not to mention all those cool experiences he already has under his belt like SNL, playing the HRD at the All Star Games. He even said after SNL, that “no one can take that experience from me”, as in, similar to what he said post AI-win. If this is it, if nothing else, it’s been a hell of a ride. Smart guy.

Sooo confused about DC’s whereabouts!

He definitely has a receding hairline, at the minimum. Once the hair is gone, it’s not coming back. And, like it or not, his hair is a distraction to many fans and to himself, or else he wouldn’t constantly be playing with his “bangs.”

Personally, as I said in the headlines thread, I think he should just crop the whole thing really short. Not shaved, but very close-cropped. Maybe hairplugs are the way to go, but I’ve never seen anybody with a good set of plugs. If it is the way to go, though, he needs to do it STAT before it becomes blatantly obvious that it’s not his real hair.

I really want to see David on my televison for a long, long time, but he’s never going to get any serious acting gigs if he doesn’t get his look together. Not unless he’s looking to be cast in a Judd Apatow film as a “funny schlubby white guy.” I hate that I care about the hair, I really do. But that “Happy Together” hair was so tragic, I couldn’t even look at him. And I liked him at that point; he was one of my favorites! After a year and a half of his hair coming up in discussion, yeah, I’m afraid it is. And I don’t believe for one second that he doesn’t care about it. I hate that it appears he feels the need to comb it forward. It’s not like he doesn’t want to be thought of as attractive; he IS attractive. If he weren’t, it wouldn’t be an issue. Just cut it off already! It’s like an old Band-Aid that needs to be ripped off. Maybe his mom can talk some sense into him. We’re usually the ones who rip the Band-Aids off after all!

Personally, I could care less about his hair. I do find him cute (which has just as much to do with his personality as it does his appearance) but in the end it’s about the music, so as long as his hair doesn’t effect his songwriting and/or voice, I’m happy.

Oh I dunno about that. Recently on the AOL homepage I spied a gossip blurb about stars with magically reappearing hairlines, and a before and after pic. I’m not saying I thought of Cookie and Hairgate, but, well… Anyway, Mel Gibson, Nick Cage, Kevin Coster, Matthew McConaughey….apparently it’s more common in Hollywood than most people realize. I don’t think the general public really linger on the mystery of magically regrowing hair unless there’s like a botch job or a bad William Shatner-esque toupe involved, or fugly extensions. I can’t find the AOL thing, but I found this blog with similar before and after pics. I imagine it’s pretty expensive to have the restoration done properly but Tom Brady, for one, looks fab so why not. And I really can’t imagine Matthew McConaughey with a buzz cut.

I gotta say I’d be stoked to see Cook cast in an Apatow movie as the funny schlubby guy. Funny is sexy. Move over, Paul Rudd…

yep David and Andrew Cook are in the midst of twitter wars. I’ve got two children not dissimilar to their ages. I’m loving every second of it. I ultimately think there won’t be a winner or loser, and for some reason I think their battle is in Chicago andf am hoping for some amazing Dim Sum. Yeah, probably not but a girl can hope.

As for where in the world is David Cook?

Well, it is not out of the realm of possibility that DC would fly to KC for a concert and return back to Kokomo, IN for the reveal. There are private jets as well as commuter flights from Indiana to MO. Commuter flights are only a couple hours. Besides, what else does he have to do there? Maybe he missed his dog? And he did make over $2M last year just on was “known” (in Fortune Magazine). So that wouldn’t surprise me if David is there. I know he flew to NYC for a DWright fundraiser, and high tailed it back to a concert location. So I think he’s used to traveling.

I enjoy some snark about his hair, it always makes me laugh, but his hair was never a distraction. (It’s always the same, you’ll get a non Cook fan making a joke and then his fans do the snark’ ¦)

My first thought was that growly tone and jealous, clenched lip thing he did in Hello on Idol in the line, “are you somewhere feeling lonely, or is someone loving you?” Looks to me like he’s experienced something similar. That whole song is full of emotion, actually. Shouting I love you? yeah. That song has it all…. yearning, jealousy, anger, lonliness, fond memories, etc. The World I Know performance at the finale of season 7 – full of emotion and the poignant beauty of his life journey told through song, as well as tears. He cried on the show all the time during/after singing – if that’s not complex emotion, I don’t know what is. And Permanent on the season 8 finale? good gosh, the entire fandom was on the edge of their seats wondering if he would be able to make it through the song without breaking down. And he did beautifully. David Cook is one giant complex emotion – of course it comes out in his art. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Does that help? I’d attach those videos if I knew how.

Speaking of tweets, them brothers Cook are too funny on twitter. This isn’t the first time they’ve gone on a twitter war and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I love that they keep snarking on each other… gives us cult members something to be entertained with while the tour is on break.

I know Cook lost his brother to cancer. I lost my mother to cancer, and a year later, a 33-year-old cousin, mother of two. Devastaing times, but we were ADULTS. As much as it affected our lives (I almost lost my job), we were already the persons we were going to be. Perspectives can change, general outlook on life, but we were not vulnerable children who were going to be defined by the tragedy.

That’s important to me.

Carmen - Cook was 15 when his brother was first diagnosed, hardly an adult. I’m just putting that our there because I assume you didn’t know it, since I can’t imagine anyone who has been through cancer with their own loved ones would ever want to come across as callous toward the suffering of another cancer stricken family, even if that family choses to be relatively quiet about it. Regardless of whether they are a fan of that person’s music or not.

I thought about David a lot while I was downtown, because we saw the looong block of buses and equipment trucks that had brought all of Bruce’s crew to K.C. It was incredibly impressive. Even if it isn’t, though, even if it’s always two nice buses and a truck, or a van with eight guys packed inside, I’ll still be sucking on my Kool-Aid popsicles and going to cult meetings deep in the internet woods.

Haven’t heard yet who died in Bruce’s family. Man, Bruce is so loved by his long-time fans. One came from Alaska. I met three from Colorado who’ve been to Europe to see him. Reminded me of a certain baby rock star we know. At DC concerts, I’ve met fans from Manila and Moscow.

Well I’m all for people doing charitable work, and of course David does a fair amount of that, so good on him. Even with the unfortunate hat hair, he looks good in the picture here, love the smile. And he was funny, as always, in that auction clip. I think I liked the coat as well, kind of hard to tell with the picture quality and how far away he was for most of it.

Whenever the 5 finger forehead comes up, I’m reminded of an episode of America’s Next Top Model where they were threading off (OMG so painful looking) some woman’s hair so she had an at least 3 finger forehead. I’m so not into Neanderthal foreheads.

ah tierbee and fergie – i come in here one more time before bed seeking an update on david cook’s whereabouts – and what do i found? two fellow suffering ‘skins fans. was that game just a load of crap or what? yesterday was the best sunday in a long time because i was able to say, “the skins didn’t lose today.”

Only the joy of following David Cook on his adventures makes the fall of a once great NFL franchise tolerable. *sniff,sniff*

Okay, I walk away for a few days to try to get some work done, but the lure of the Cook is too strong. I’ve never watched this Makeover show but I guess I’ll be watching come January. Of course, I’d never watched American Idol either till I saw Cook’s commercial for it. Funny how that works.

And omg *thank you* to those who pointed and linked to those harmony tracks. The one for “Lie” Is so beautiful it makes me want to weep.

DC’s harmonies are one of the things I enjoy most about his vocals on so many songs. I remember hearing him harmonize on the “Heroes” duet with Archie when watching clips of the finale and being completely blown away. At that point in my youtube scouring for all things Cook I thought I already knew everything I needed to know about his voice but I was so wrong. Since I’m pretty greedy where his music is concerned, these new clips are going to entertain me for days. : )

So do we have any solid confirmation about DC at the TII premiere? I’m not sure how reliable the info was.

Agreed. I’m not sure. Aside from one French Canadian article and Jim Cantiello’s tweet (like someone said, maybe it was the invite list, not the confirmed list of attendees), we have no confirmation that I know of that DC is even gonna be in LA tonight. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see him get some more exposure, and maybe even interact with Adam (they’re both such nice guys who seem to respect each other, are gracious to others), but I just don’t see it happening. I think the Cowan-Browns would love to see DC at the unveiling, maybe get a song? I dunno, if Kellie P got to do that, I’d love to see DC get featured the same way on the show.

DC is sooo good at harmonies. I love hearing him duet with people– even loved him in all the group numbers on AI.

As for me, I’m just trying to figure out how he’s handling all this logistically. Doesn’t he have to interact with that Extreme Home Make Over family? How can he do that and be in L.A. too? And, in the midst of it all, have a fight with his brother at some diner.

Well, super, I’m glad he’ll be there. It probably means he’ll miss that movie red carpet thing & any attendant publicity, but I think this is better.

Seems to me it’s possible he could still make it. Depending on Kokomo’s time zone, he’d pick up either two or three hours in flight. I hope he makes it. Because god knows I wouldn’t want the boy to get any rest or down time. My seeing him on my television is what’s important. Oh, and he’d better send me twitters from the red carpet and audience, too. “Excuse me, but I have to pause now and let spritely know what famous people I’ve met.”

I’m nothing if not a reasonable fan with modest expectations.
