Destined for greatness. ("The World I Know" performance à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬' mind blowing.) It's amusing to think that if it weren't for this cheesy show, the odds are that most of us would never have gotten to hear David Cook. Listen to his pre-Idol stuff à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬' It's just ho-hum average. He would have most likely languished in obscurity. But his recent AI performances were absolutely stellar. I think he just finally believed he could do it, and his talent just exploded. Leave your old album in the past, David Cook, and do your current thing. I for one, can't get enough.

First time here! I'm forced to visit for the lack of Cookie material elsewhere. :D

I have to say, MJ, that screencap is all kinds of hot! Cook looks really tired but he looked the best in this interview.

I love this interview. None of the same old stuff but managing to get some insight into the person without having to ask any personal questions.

I really love "The World I Know" and it's probably the best performance during his final. But somehow the Itune sales is the worst among the four songs he's released after the Idol. But anyway, I have been playing the World I Know nonstop on my player. Love the lyrics. It's the kind of song I would listen when I am depressed.

Aww, I was spazzing out when he included Innocent. Haha! Well, I actually spazzed out when he performed it on AI. Just because I don't think any contestant of AI would sing something.... as... "indie" or not too well-known as that. O_O

So uhh, yeah, seeing this made me happy. =D

And you're right jan, this interview is refreshing. Just because it doesn't include that "how does it feel after..." blah blah blah.

I really enjoy listening to David Cook doing interviews. He is incredibly articulate and clearly very intelligent. He has incredibly dry wit and can be incredibly funny at times. He's a natural. He's also the perfect spokesman for American Idol. He seems very much grounded, which will keep him in good stead as he navigates through this year as the winner of American Idol. He really is an open book and what you see is what you get. He's incredibly diplomatic and clearly thinks before he speaks. He seems like he's a really nice and genuine guy who is clearly very likeable. He wins people over because how can you not like him? He has even won over some diehard Archuleta fans as they appreciated his protectiveness and brotherly love for Archie. He is very much aware of what the buzz has been throughout this competition and has dealt with issues head on but in a subtle way.

I went to iTunes to listen to "Hide & Seek" and bought it - never heard Imogen Heap before but loved that song. Also listened to Nine Inch Nails song and White Zombies but neither song did anything for me on the short clip anyway.
I already loved "The World I Know" before Cookie sang it.

This interview is one of the best so far. I really enjoyed it.

I finally burned a CD of DC's Idol songs from Rainbow song backwards to Top 24 including the non studios. I put it in my car and he sounds amazing. I gave a copy to my sis who doesn['t watch Idol and is a big country fan and she called me and said "Wow, this guy can really sing" She has never said that about any other music I have given her.

Hisaki, I was surprised too. I lurve Imogen Heap and that song is just so beautiful. It just further exhibits the range of his musical taste, imo. Because I too never would have imagined him listening to Imogen Heap.

*adds precipice to vocabulary*

I like that Cook has such a wide range of musical taste. And yes, it's very refreshing to hear him talk about his musical influences after being asked the same questions over and over again.

Hmmmà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. The YouTube version here has some extra interview bits. Is that from a website or something?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFqqDtyha9I

Ahh, thanks! I gasped really loudly when I heard him say he used Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek" to calm down, because I love that song and listen to it for the same purpose. And I never thought he was the type of person to be listening to someone like Imogen Heap, wow.

This really was a fantastic interview. It's great to hear him talking about MUSIC and not what he feels about the vote differential, how his love life is going, or the 324,576,980th retelling of his audition story.

Thanks for the cap mj! :) I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

If you listen to DC's pre idol music (really some great stuff) you will hear that he is definately a rocker with an emo edge.

As he said in the idolatry interview, he has to temper his rocker style with a view to making his music-to-come "palatable!.

I have a feeling his new record with be a cross between rock and pop- a nice combo which suits him and his style.

Nice interview. He seems like a media pro already. I'm glad we got to see him talk about something besides the usual questions.

This round of press reminds me of season five. Taylor and Katharine did the same round of talks shows and morining shows. Actually on the Today Show, Taylor peformed three songs, so I was kind of hoping Cook would do more than "Time Of My Life." But I know he has a lot on his plate right now.
