And based on the instrumentation-done-on-a-shoestring in Analog Heart, I’ve been itching to hear what Cook could do with instrumentation-done-on-a- um, bunch of shoestrings. With some musicians I like the melodies, with some I like the rhythm — Cook’s music I tend to like top to bottom. I always find something interesting *inside* the songs, if that makes sense, which is why I don’t get tired of them, I think (well, that plus the often clever, clever lyrics).

That’s what I think too, he did amazing things with Analog Heart. And he was very involved in the recording and production of that. I kind of look to that to see what his true style is, and see a definate progression with DCTR, and expect even more progression on this album. And I know what you mean about his lyrics. I never get sick of listening to his songs.

Had to chime in briefly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything I heard. If this is indicative, this is going to be some awesome album. Can.not.wait.

Loving the vibe of the teaser. Dying for the album….

I can’t WAIT to hear new DC music..I like what I hear so far but hope we get to rock out too.:)

  • loveroftalent

Happy for the Cook fans. You’ve had a long wait. The album teaser sounds great.

  • mon_mon

I think the first song is not GBTTG. It is some other song and I am addicted to that small snippet of it. Paper Heart is catchy. I am so excited for the new album

I always have to laugh when DC says he doesn’t dance — he’s dancing all the way through this thing. Bwah!

Oh Good observation! He so is, isn’t he? lol.

ITA on the editing. It was well scripted too. The whole thing was very well put together to address a lot of fan concerns without actually saying anything directly – Dave penned songs, DNA penned song(s), wider range of instrumentation than DCTR, showcasing of vocals – all things fans have been musing over for months.

I can’t beleive nobody has mentioned the oh so artistic/romantic burning candles in the background. Pretty sure those aren’t standard studio lighting. Heh.

I hope that Cook comes out of the gate selling hundreds of thousands of albums, and idol will get some of its mojo back. And I think Cook is the guy to do it.

I’m so hopeful for this album! I love the beginning snippet, sounds soooo good! Hopefully this is the beginning of more info. to come! And I agree the way this video was edited is excellent. Oh, and the glasses look good!

smallie, I don’t know if you got to see the pic. girlygirl posted of Kris, but I’ll thank you for asking because the top pic. is one of my favorite all time pics of him and I immediately thought of it w/ the glasses talk.

    Okay back to the music…

  • _nyanyanie

ok, i just have to say this… i’ve been listening to it all day now… you can say im reading too much in between the lines of this vlog but it pumps me up…

the first line goes “who’s to say you’re never wrong? who’s to say that i’m not already gone..”

then the final line goes “i can feel it in the air”

i hope its a hint of the “coming”

  • daenarys

Another Cook vet surfacing from the trenches to say this: loved the 1st snippet (his tone on “Who’s to say you’re never wrooongg…” unf! and yes, he kept his promise on more Piano (my personal ngh is that Cook plays it live, woo! C’mon dude, wtf!me LOL). Love the opening riff of Paper Heart, you only need to hear that song once and 3 seconds in you already know it’s that song. And the lyrics snippet is freaking me out: “I’m leaning on the edge, of jumping off the ledge,” is my venue right now. Not doing it, but definitely leaning there. Spooky. But brilliant. AngstyCook goes to my head.

And I also loved the snippet of song no 2 which he sound tested at Busch (but didn’t sing) once in a galaxy far far away. Ballady, but definitely vocally challenging. I hope it makes the album. So far, so good.

  • tinawina

tinawina, you know I heart you anyways, but especially for what you just wrote, because you perfectly described how I feel about David. And articulated perfectly so I won’t have to struggle to describe it myself!

I just saw this sma11ie! **hugs** I borrowed our brain yesterday :D

  • 123abc456

I love this video. I like the sound of both songs. I seriously cannot wait until the record comes out. David looks like he is at the end of the process in this video. He also looks nice. :)

  • sma11ie

Love it when you borrow our brain and write intelligent things that I can somehow claim shared credit for here, tinawina :D. Haha.

Yes, cookcricket– Kris in glasses is pretty adorbs. He looks like a little school boy haha.

Btw, watched it finally– erm, like 1000 times. Love both snippets. We’ve heard all of Paper Heart, and I already said I love it, so nice to hear a bit of it in recorded form. Also loved the intro to the other song. Love the piano! Wee!

Okay back to shallow- I like his watch! Haha. Waves to Jim.

  • Incipit

In line with the description for the Teaser at DCO – “David Cook is prepping the release of his new album and we have exclusive video footage of David working in the studio.” - David tweeted today that he was starting on the last batch of songs.

“I feel you closer than you are” is starting to sound very true, with that news of the last batch of songs being ‘prepped for release’ on top of a video packed with positive vibes, inferences and objective facts….expertly edited into one minute.

    IMO.
