I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t imagine also trying to write and record an album, with photo shoots, promo events, phone interviews, and the stylists and the make-up chairà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ there just isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t enough hours in the day! That is why I also am not crossing fingers for a magnum opus- but I hope he can put out something heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s proud of

I agree, DivaE, this is why I'm okay with the fact that he may release a single later than my inner fangirl would like. I'd rather he take his time and release music he's not only proud of, but that does him justice and wasn't rushed to produce just to strike while the iron is hot (I'm looking at you and your team, Kristy Lee). If I recall correctly, Cookie has said that they're currently tracking songs and will continue working on that after the tour - so I'm pleased he'll have more time to settle in and focus on the music once the tour is over.

Every Sunday morning, I catch part of Casey Kasem on the drive to church- and always manage to catch ToML- which is still climbing (last week 10, today 9). I have heard it on the radio here in L.A. (pop radio like MyFm) and in chain sit-down restaurants (which I think is the first place I heard Clay's "Invisible" back in the day). This single still seems to have some life!

Can you imagine how exhausted our poor Cookie is? Living on a bus and out of a suitcase is a tiring life (sometimes I'm on the road 8 mos a year)- I can't imagine also trying to write and record an album, with photo shoots, promo events, phone interviews, and the stylists and the make-up chair... there just isn't enough hours in the day! That is why I also am not crossing fingers for a magnum opus- but I hope he can put out something he's proud of (I know Blake was proud of his cd, and was surprised that certain singles on that weren't pushed to radio). I will buy Cookie's album and go to his concerts- I'm pretty loyal to my faves (still seeing Depeche Mode and Duran Duran in concert every time they tour, even 25 years later).

My main hope for the album and working with this producer is that the levels are done well. I find many quickly produced AI albums do not showcase the singer's voice forward enough in the mix- it is embarrassing some of the mixing that has been sloppily thrown out there on these albums. His voice is so fantastic, we all want to put our headphones on and feel like he's singing to us. I do think the MCR and Green Day albums really allow us to hear their singers- so I'm very hopeful!

I hope Archie's single and album find their audience. So many of the singers/albums that are out in his genre right now are SO underwhelming! He can sing circles around most of them- he just needs to find a stage persona that can carry a live show (I mean, Hannah Montana sells billions, even a live concert movie, and she is not a very good singer as far as "voice" goes.). The Jonas Bros are cute and have a good stage act- Archie is cute and so sincere, we'll see how he changes as he ages.

ok- ranting now...

Go Magic Rainbows!

He could have his band back him but they just play under his name. Cause you're right, we're "branded" to David Cook and he doesn't have a unique enough name to just make that the bandname like "Daughtry" could.

My bf suggested just "DC". Maybe that could work...

[shallow]Cookie has a talent of surrounding himself with talented and attractive friends. Andy Skib for one, and Neal another. Yes, I find him surprisingly cute, despite my dislike of redheads/very pale skin (this is due to Cookie, I think).[/shallow]

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll just keep my mouth shut and pretend everything is peachy.

Why "pretend"? So far everything is peachy. I just don't see the point in forcing a worst case scenario onto a situation that is anything but.
Why belabor that point? If things turn sour, we'll have plenty of time to mope around when it actually happens. But constantly saying it will just dampens the mood with paranoia and concern, when this is otherwise a positive and happy thread - David blogged, David sounds content, David sounds like he's moving at a good pace towards the goal he set for himself.
Why the doom and gloom, is what I just can't wrap my head around. Have a little faith. I believe true talent will prevail. Guess I'm less of a cynic than I thought.

Sorry,mj.
Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll just keep my mouth shut and pretend everything is peachy.

I'm just requesting that you stick to the subject of the thread.

Somehow, every single post on the subject of the Davids' record releases winds up getting hijacked and turned into the "David Cook is doomed" thread.

I've stated in my guidelines, that I'll stop conversations that become redundant. This one certainly has.

I'm glad soooo glad we got that out of our systems!

Because here's the deal: There are going to be many more posts on Cook and his upcoming album in the next few months and I won't allow those posts to be hijacked by the same poster and the same subject Every. Single. Fricking. Time.

Groundhogs Day was a great movie, but I don't want to live it through my blog.

Just so you know.

I respect everyone's opinions regarding DC's future and truly do wish I could share them. I just don't see much more happening, in all honesty.
Is it possible for Cook to achieve both commercial success and respect in the industry. Yes, of course it is. Does that mean it will happen? No, it does not.
It is a requirement that he be able to release a major label album by virtue of winning. It is not a requirement that he be made a priority or even properly promoted. And, from what I have seen thus far, I don't think he will be.
At this point, I expect no more than: Radio play and sales for TOML to start decreasing dramatically within the next couple of weeks. There will most likely be virtual silence on the news front through September as the tour finishes up. The Skechers campaign will kick off (but, in essence, that is nothing more than selling shoes). A single will probably be thrown out in late October without a major market debut (sink or swim technique). There will be some promotion before and right after the album release, followed by the tour in the new year. There may be another single released with the same half-hearted technique. He will make an appearance at next year's finale and it will be done.
I have seen nothing in seven seasons to make me believe that 19 is capable of focusing on more than one artist at a time and actually making them a success. And it is becoming increasingly obvious that the focus is not on David Cook, as far as they are concerned. When a winner is promoted less than another contestant and thereby outsold, through no fault of their own, they are left to fade into obscurity. So, no, I don't think the success that he is capable of is at all part of their agenda. I don't know if Archie will be a huge success either, but at least an effort is being made on that front (not comparing or "hating", just stating a fact).
I'm just not expecting anything more than being able to purchase his album and follow his future independent career. If at some point in the near future, gears get switched and a focus is placed on making Cook into the success he is more than capable of being, I will be pleasantly surprised (and I have no problem with that).

Is it possible for Cook to achieve both commercial success and respect in the industry. Yes, of course it is. Does that mean it will happen? No, it does not.
It is a requirement that he be able to release a major label album by virtue of winning. It is not a requirement that he be made a priority or even properly promoted. And, from what I have seen thus far, I don’t think he will be.
He will make an appearance at next year’s finale and it will be done.
So, no, I don’t think the success that he is capable of is at all part of their agenda. I don’t know if Archie will be a huge success either, but at least an effort is being made on that front (not comparing or “hating”, just stating a fact).
I’m just not expecting anything more than being able to purchase his album and follow his future independent career. If at some point in the near future, gears get switched and a focus is placed on making Cook into the success he is more than capable of being, I will be pleasantly surprised (and I have no problem with that).
