I love this quote. It shows that even with fans leaving him no doubt as to just what “things he does” to them when they’re alone (TMI), he doesn’t see himself as all that much of a catch since he thinks a pretty woman would need to be convinced to take a chance on him. I admit, I have purchased all these idiotic magazines I could find with pictures and half-ass “interviews” or “articles” about Mr Cook. I had never bought ANY of these, even TV Guide, before now. Hey, it’s all I’ve got right now…OK besides newspapers, cartoons, Analog Heart, t-shirts, bracelets, and all the other music of his I could get my hands on. What a sweetheart. I am truly hoping that he will be making music for the next 20 or 30 years or however long he wants to do it. David is one of the hottest. Mario is the hottest, which means he’ll probably be on the cover of the issue. The lists, I believe, are an inside People thing.

David was on Flight 26 yesterday for about 2 minutes!! He seemed preoccupied…You know I dont know how he will get any studio time in when the go on tour – the dates are pretty jammed together – so I guess they are trying to get as much done as possible…
Im assuming this happened with all the idols I just wasnt following as closely.
David seems like the type that needs sleep – I hope he’s getting it.

I will never forget a statement Merv Griffin made years ago on the success of his discovery, Vanna White, for his “Wheel of Fortune” game show. He said something like, “she is very telegenic because she has a big head, which works well for TV”, or something like that. I remember at the time thinking that was a wierd comment, but have since noticed that a lot of TV and movie stars have larger than average heads (Tommy Lee Jones comes to mind–big head, small body), so I really think there is something to that. (Will Smith is the most glaring exception to this rule! )

So Cookie can thank his “big head” for helping him win over the hearts and minds of the AI audience. The camera loves him.

There is so much more that goes into being attracted to someone other than looks.. I think that is what attracted so many women to Cookie..he showed his vulnerablity and wasnt stuck on himself like so many celebrities are today….

Mario is too much of a pretty boy..and he knows it…and I have read too many negative things about him. I definately dont need my estrogen checked.. I just dont find him attractive..

I think Mario Lopez is okay, he has a great body (I’ve got a weakness for ripped abs) and I adore dimples, but beyond that, eh…he does nothing for me. Beauty really is a relative thing which is why these lists and the order of them can always be argued. I almost never agree with who ends up on People’s Most Beautiful person cover and sometimes when I see who has made that list, I can’t understand how they got on there.

To me David’s hottness comes more from within – the way he presents himself and the way he sings creates the “hott” for me. To just look at him and not know anything about him I would think, eh, ok, he is a cute guy. BUT – get to hear him sing, talk and just be – THEN I say Yea the man is Hott. Now others are comparing different Idols looks and if I went that way, back in the day, if I saw Jasons face next to Cooks face and did not know anything about their singing or them, I would say Jason was beautiful and hot but then I love big blue eyes with long eyelashes – so anyhow I believe Cook does deserve the hottest shout out for my above reasons.

Hottness to me is more than just looks…it’s the personality and character as well. David Cook has all of those qualities. Mario Lopez cheated on his fiance (who was a former Miss USA) at his bachelor party. As I recall, she found out soon after they were married and she dropped him like the proverbial hot potato. So, it could be inferred that if he had any character, he wouldn’t be a bachelor in the first place.

Mario just isn’t my type. The cheating dog thing is a problem, but not that much of one. I usually go for tall, slim, intelligent men, especially if they are dark and talented. I think talent would be my #1 hotness issue, with intelligence a close second. Pierce Brosnan, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Michael Jordan, young Timothy Dalton (his Heathcliff was a thing of beauty), Keanu Reeves, Jason Thompson of “General Hospital” — that’s what flips my switches in terms of looks. I do like Billy Crudup and Jude Law (neither is tall enough, Jude Law isn’t dark, and they’re both cheaters) even though they don’t fit. David Cook isn’t really my physical type, either, but his talent and intelligence go a loooong way with me.

Mario Lopez doesn’t actually hit my target AT ALL, except for the dark hair, which… There’s a lot of dark hair out there! He’s beefy, when I like slim. He comes off as not very bright, when I prefer intelligence. He’s not that talented, if we’re looking at acting, and I didn’t really like his ballroom dancing that well, either. And he supposedly cheated on one wife on their honeymoon night, and now he cheated on Karina Smirnoff with a Hooters waitress? That makes his otherwise not-that-impressive-to-me attributes all the more unappealing.

I know a nice body when I see one, and Mario definitely has one of those…but David, to me, is infinitely hotter. It takes more than looks to get me riled up. Wow. David has totally ruined it for me for hot-looking guys. I look at them now and go, meh, so they have killer bods…but are they smart, sweet, humble and have voices like angels?

Funny, funny, funny – my man has to be funny but the first thing I notice is BIG beautiful eyes. That is the only hott thing on that skank Brett Michaels. Why can’t a tall, slender man who looks like he has a brain behind his eyes be the one who makes my heart (or my loins) go pitter patter, purely on a superficial, physical level? We all have different genes and we read different books and saw different movies and fell in love with different matinee idols and formed our taste independently. I can honestly say that Mario Lopez does not make anything in me quiver. Not even a little. Purely on a physical level. It’s just that there’s a different formula to my physical than somebody else’s, who think big muscles and a big bulges are the be-all and end-all. I like tall and thin, and I prefer looking at a man’s face rather than what’s in his pants. (Shrug.)

I actually think it’s pretty common for women to say that “big muscles” are way down on the list of what attracts them to a man (completely superficially, before they know the guy, I mean). I think “eyes” and “smile” are usually at the top when they do surveys. Gay men? Heck, yeah. I would not be at all surprised if a majority put muscles were right at the top of their lists, and I know at least one gay man who thinks Mario Lopez is everything a man should be. (He and I have argued about this before.)

But you can’t just assume that everybody has the same taste, even if you’re talking pure physicality.

I’m thinking it’s the timing of the issue – it comes out not too long after the Idol Winner is announced and the show is over. So these guys are fresh in everyone’s minds and people are talking about them.

It’s really sad isn’t it? I get the TV Guide mag every week and usually I may causually skim through it and throw it away but with the previous issues that had DC in them, I have saved them all. I am a pathetic woman.

I happen to be a fan of Taylor and DC. I think they are both sexy in their own way. Taylor does have the sexiest eyes I’ve seen. I think David has a sexy mouth, amongst other things. They both show passion when they perform and I think that is the sexiest thing about both of them. They’d both make my list. And yes Mario is amazing physically and I actually thought David Hernandez was a very good singer and had lots of physical appeal. I had hoped he’d stay on AI longer. Ugh. Please don’t turn this thread into my-idol-is-sexier-than-your-idol. Attractiveness is highly subjective. If someone says they don’t think a particular Idol is sexy, just respect their opinion, please do not get defensive. At the same time the whole “I don’t get blah blah blah” or “there must be something wrong with you if you don’t think blah blah blah” line of posting is really a little disrespectful. Not everyone is going to like the same thing.

WTF? Oh well, it’s mostly subjective, right? Well “oft-pitchy” is not that subjective. Cook’s singing is right on. I have a trained ear, I’ve listened over & over. He’s not pitchy. That’s just New York Magazine – that’s their style – they think they are just too hip for the rest of the world. You will find very few things they actually like – unless it is something totally obscure. It’s the whole I’m too cool to like something that other people like.

I wasn’t talking about the article. The guy made his feelings about David pretty clear. And do I care? Not really. He’s entitled to his opinion, as I am to mine.

It was that one line about Clay that I was talking about. That line could be interpreted in a few different ways–the author isn’t very clear.

Posting a negative article in a thread just to point out that your favorite Idol is somehow better than the Idol that’s the subject of the thread is the kind of stealth fan-warring that I don’t appreciate at all.

Yes, David Cook is hot and there is a certain vulnerability about him. Mario is a beautiful man – look but do not touch.

The type of sexuality I felt about Taylor was beyond sex but rather I thought he would be a cuddler. That is, the type of man that would comfort you when you puppy dog died. You want him close, simple as that.

There is a subtle sexuality Jason possesses which focuses so much on his eyes and smile. You fantasize even though he’s not muscle bound. I thought he should be on that list over several they chose.

Well I got a little riled up earlier about my fangirl fave, David C. It’s just a gossip magazine. It’s for FUN, basically. They make up all kinds of lists every year, if I’m not mistaken. If you don’t like their lists, you don’t have to buy it. You can make your own lists! I admit, I am a bit protective of David Cook. Well, why NOT put him on the 2008 list of People’s Hottest Bachelors? He’s pretty popular right now, even if YOU (whoever you are) are not a fan. He’s unattached, talented, newly famous, blahblahblah. Who really cares who is on that list anyway?! I’ll buy it for the pics & whatever they say about him. And that’s the ONLY reason I’ve bought People mag, ever, in my whole life. I probably won’t buy anything that is negative towards him…cause I am a fan & I’d like to support him & his career. Ya know.
