KOTN is pretty popular with DC fans as well, but since it’s a hidden track on the record, it’s generally assumed it wouldn’t be in contention for a single.

Heh, well, I absolutely adore it too so… mileage, I guess . I think it is a gorgeous song, even better when he sings it live. I wouldn’t think Kiss On the Neck will get released, it’s a hidden track on the album.

Heh. I knew I liked Whitney . Yes, my heart leaps too. Sigh. I know he’s scheduling dates with the Script for December, but a tiny part of me holds out hope that there’s a new single yet (yes, the tiny tiny stubborn part), and that December will be filled with radio shows to promote said single. Seriously though, acoustic Avalanche…guh. First, there’s the song. Not only is it pretty, it’s also sexy. It’s just one of those kind of acoustic-y ballads that pulls off both moods simultaneously, you know? Like DMB’s Crash Into Me, or John Mayer’s Body Is A Wonderland. I think it’s the carry me down rolling in your arms part that gets me….. Anyway, then there’s the performance, and the song is definitely enhanced by the just Dave and his guitar effect.

Speaking of… on the plugged in vs. acoustic discussion….I think it’s a matter of what serves the song best. I can’t imagine acoustic Honest, for example, being better than the full band version. I Did It For You also benefits from the full band and then some for obvious reasons (see vid above), as does Mr. Sensitive with the kickass, um, well, guitar spanking, for lack of a better term, that Dave has adapted recently. Conversely, with Avalanche and LOTM I prefer the stripped down unplugged versions…the sparser instrumentation really adds to the vibe of the tunes. And my favorite version of Lie is the one that has evolved from the live performances recently, combining the band and the a capella. So yeah, for certain songs, I agree it would be beneficial to add a mini-acoustic set. Best of both worlds kind of concert experience. Now come back to Florida, dammit. I’d even be okay with whole band playing the accordion if it meant another Florida date. Okay, maybe polka Bar Ba Sol not so much, but still, one DeTour concert is not enough. ~pouts~

For the last tour date: don’t know whether to hope there’s an ‘official’  one so there can be an epic last night (with YouTubey), or not so the great travelling Cook show can go on.
I mean, I want him working on the second album, but many months w/o new music DNW!!! Deluxe album with all those cool numbers that have been done on tour but not on the first record would help salve the pain.

and ladymadonna – yes it ultimately is a matter of personal taste. and to my taste, David Cook is THE star from American Idol.
