<blockquote>KOTN has ' hit' written all over it,RCA/19 would make a HUGE mistake not releasing this song before the next album JMO</blockquote>
KOTN is pretty popular with DC fans as well, but since it's a hidden track on the record, it's generally assumed it wouldn't be in contention for a single.

<blockquote>Yet another vid of the Montreal Avalanche</blockquote>
Wow. Just, wow. That is lovely. Lucky, lucky Canadian fans. Thanks to the videographers, CathyMK for the downloads and MJ for the thread. The next best thing to being there.

I think I'm driving my family crazy listening to all of these Avalanche Youtubes, but, hey, I have to check the quality of each before I convert it, right? ;0)

Heart-melting is a good way to describe Avalanche. I'm converting Bobsessive's video now, it should be on Mediafire for download in a little while.

www.mediafire.com/CathyMK

It'll be in the folder called "Bobsessive's Acoustic Avalanche."

Thanks again to everyone who takes the videos and shares them with us, and to those of you who bring us the links.

ETA: Dave tweeted that he's sick, poor baby:

# thedavidcook Should be good as new in a week or less. Time to rest. Stockpiling energy for this weekend!about 5 hours ago from mobile web

#thedavidcook Did they have tonsilitis in Oregon trail?about 5 hours ago from mobile web

@thedavidcook Nothing like waking up sick. At the doc. Hoping I don't have some crazy "Oregon Trail" disease.about 6 hours ago from mobile web

<blockquote>' lie' is one of my least fave songs on DCTR,i just don't get the hype(from DCfans) about this song AT ALL</blockquote>

Heh, well, I absolutely adore it too so... mileage, I guess :) . I think it is a gorgeous song, even better when he sings it live. I wouldn't think Kiss On the Neck will get released, it's a hidden track on the album.

Opinions are all that truly matter. You like KOTN and some like Lie. This is why I don't listen to T-40 radio.at.all. I don't even like it. I'm not about to tell anybody, however. what they should or shouldn't like. I honestly love David Cook and I honestly love a couple of people who are so polar from DC that it's not even funny. I love some for their voice (DC I'm looking at you), and I love some for what they bring to a song (DC, sorry I'm not so much looking at you but at what you have the potential to bring). I guess in the end, we all love what we love for the specific reasons we love them. Nobody telling you otherwise will ever make a difference.

Heh. I knew I liked Whitney . Yes, my heart leaps too. Sigh. I know he's scheduling dates with the Script for December, but a tiny part of me holds out hope that there's a new single yet (yes, the tiny tiny stubborn part), and that December will be filled with radio shows to promote said single. <strong>Wouldn't Lie be a lovely winter hit' ¦? Dreams' ¦</strong>

I guess I give people the benefit of the doubt. I certainly know when I've seen them, I've maybe sung along a bit. I don't know how anybody could even help themselves. People enjoy themselves how they will and if it includes a bit of (horrible) singing along, I'm ok with that. I just don't think the end result of a show should be how the video that some kind person took should sound. The end result for me should be if people enjoyed the show they went to. If that enjoyment includes a bit of opera, well I'm ok with that. We were none of us blessed with his voice and he encourages singing along. I've heard worse....

Yet another vid of the Montreal Avalanche. This is probably my favorite of all that have emerged because it's close-up and clear as glass, includes full banter (plus a lot of sexy guitar-tuning at the beginning), and the sound quality is great (a little less of the operatic woman in the audience, though you can still hear her a bit).

Hee, sunchick, your whole first paragraph! I love this thread - thank you for all these great videos! I'm so excited that I have less than a week until I get to go to another show... I don't think I've ever gone to multiple shows for one artist so this isn't usually my thing, but this guy... sigh. The voice... the voice is enough, but there's so much more :) . The whole Idol voyage played out like a movie script, got to meet him in Radford however briefly and realized he's not just purty, he's... luminous?!... Race for Hope cemented how special he is, and so on and so forth. Can't quit him. Don't want to quit him.

(Still laughing at myself over this, because I don't get all fangirly either, not since Duran Duran in 7th grade - was madly in love with John, ha).

<strong>ItzMeRenee</strong>, your videos are fantastic, thank you so much for sharing those. Jealous that you got AcousticDave!! Fingers, toes, eyes, whatever crossed for even one acoustic song... plllleeeeasseeee... I'll trade that for my 'Til I'm Blue request :)

Waking up to this thread on a Monday is not unlike tiptoeing downstairs on Christmas morning and eyeballing the stuff Santa Dave left under the tree. Suddenly I'm like 12 and inwardly jumping up and down at all the goodies. OMG, Acoustic Avalanche- video AND MP3! Just what I always wanted! And it's like totally even more awesome than I imagined. I'm gonna hug it and squeeze it and call it George. *hugs video, video takers, and mp3 makers*

Seriously though, acoustic Avalanche...guh. First, there's the song. Not only is it pretty, it's also sexy. It's just one of <em>those</em> kind of acoustic-y ballads that pulls off both moods simultaneously, you know? Like DMB's Crash Into Me, or John Mayer's Body Is A Wonderland. I think it's the carry me down rolling in your arms part that gets me..... Anyway, then there's the performance, and the song is definitely enhanced by the just Dave and his guitar effect.

Speaking of... on the plugged in vs. acoustic discussion....I think it's a matter of what serves the song best. I can't imagine acoustic Honest, for example, being better than the full band version. I Did It For You also benefits from the full band and then some for obvious reasons (see vid above), as does Mr. Sensitive with the kickass, um, well, guitar spanking, for lack of a better term, that Dave has adapted recently. Conversely, with Avalanche and LOTM I prefer the stripped down unplugged versions...the sparser instrumentation really adds to the vibe of the tunes. And my favorite version of Lie is the one that has evolved from the live performances recently, combining the band and the a capella. So yeah, for certain songs, I agree it would be beneficial to add a mini-acoustic set. Best of both worlds kind of concert experience. Now come back to Florida, dammit. I'd even be okay with whole band playing the accordion if it meant another Florida date. Okay, maybe polka Bar Ba Sol not so much, but still, one DeTour concert is not enough. ~pouts~

I Did It For You also benefits from the full band and then some for obvious reasons (see vid above), as does Mr. Sensitive with the kickass, um, well, guitar spanking, for lack of a better term, that Dave has adapted recently. Conversely, with Avalanche and LOTM I prefer the stripped down unplugged versions…the sparser instrumentation really adds to the vibe of the tunes. And my favorite version of Lie is the one that has evolved from the live performances recently, combining the band and the a capella. So yeah, for certain songs, I agree it would be beneficial to add a mini-acoustic set. Best of both worlds kind of concert experience. Now come back to Florida, dammit. I’d even be okay with whole band playing the accordion if it meant another Florida date. Okay, maybe polka Bar Ba Sol not so much, but still, one DeTour concert is not enough. ~pouts~

Heh. I knew I liked Whitney ;). Yes, my heart leaps too. Sigh. I know he's scheduling dates with the Script for December, but a tiny part of me holds out hope that there's a new single yet (yes, the tiny tiny stubborn part), and that December will be filled with radio shows to promote said single. Wouldn't Lie be a lovely winter hit...? Dreams...

<blockquote>For the last tour date: don't know whether to hope there's an 'official' one so there can be an epic last night (with YouTubey), or not so the great travelling Cook show can go on.
I mean, I want him working on the second album, but many months w/o new music DNW!!! Deluxe album with all those cool numbers that have been done on tour but not on the first record would help salve the pain.</blockquote>
Maturin - you summed up my current feelings perfectly!

and ladymadonna - yes it ultimately is a matter of personal taste. and to my taste, David Cook is THE star from American Idol.
