Is it bad that I’m already antsy to hear what new songs he writes next? He has a quirky way with words, and I want to hear how his style evolves from here. I feel like he toned down the quirk for this album. I like DCTR, but still… I want to see what comes next.

tinawina, ITA. I want MORE! More David Cook. More more more. More, please. How is it that I like everything he sings, everything he writes? He just gets to me…the words, the music, the voice. And yes, I find myself listening to all the David Cook that I have and wondering WHAT’S NEXT? And WHEN? How does all this come out of him? Where did he come from?

I don’t have it at hand but yeah, I remember the tile was “We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping” and beeing a duet with a female vocalist.

Seriously? That I did not remember. Wow, I want that album to leak. It is good to see him do songs off it on tour, though, gives me hope one day it will actually see the light of day.

BTW – Can I just say how much I appreciate the fact that DC keeps changing the setlist? No performance is the same as the one before or after, so we get a lot more songs via YouTube (Thank you, awesome DC fans!) and it keeps things so much more interesting for the band and the crowd as well.

To think, during the Idol tour we got the same five songs each night for 53 nights. DC must have been bored out of his mind by the time it was over.

ITA, Tinawina. That was one of the biggest compromises he made in order to get the album done fast, I think. No time to play with lyrics and let them marinate, so the co-writer’s influence is more apparent. Hopefully the songs for the next album will be written more organically, and we’ll get more of the interesting imagery and wordplay that’s characteristic of his pre-Idol writing.

OMG – I hope those students realize how lucky they were to be the first audience ever to hear that song performed. From the sound of the applause and cheering, I’d say they loved it. And so do I!

I was so happy to hear that he got to sing “We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping”…. I know that he seemed pretty proud of that album (from his myspace blogging) before Idol hit. It’s too bad he didn’t get to release it. That’s the kind of stuff I love from him. His writing is very creative and he has a fantastic way with words. I honestly really liked the song and hope to hear it on my tour date in March. Wonder if his label will let him re-release it at some point in the future. I’m sure all his fans would love it.

I assume there will be some fan outrage, but listening to the song now, I actually feel like it could be a hit, maybe moreso than Lie. I’m onboard, and I hope everyone will be once they get over the initial annoyance.

CBTM? Really? Hmm…..I guess since he already put out more of a ‘rock’ song with Light On, going the pop route with Come Back to Me is a smart move. My vote for the next single would’ve been Life on the Moon or Lie……but that’s okay. David’s a smart guy so I trust his judgement. And the label’s judgement too I suppose.

And yay again for the new song he debuted at the concert. Hair plugs? That’s interesting…..

As for CBTM I think it’s the best choice. Even if my personal favorite is Lie, I think CBTM is more radio ready, and it’s not as slow tempo. Good to have news on that side.

LOL about the hair comments. I think he is just being a guy. He doesn’t have a sylist with him at all times like when he was on idol, so instead of fussing, he throws on a cap. Most guys aren’t into fussing with their hair. I have 6 nephews and they all resort to the hats, especially in the winter. I am just happy there is a new single. Yay! Also, love the song WOHWWS. This. The juxtapostion of his lyrics vs. the lyrical content of “LO” and “CBTM” is so jarring. I think he’s so lyrically superior to his two “hit factory” singles. I just love this song. I really, really hope that his next record is ALL him.

And I need to hear every other unreleased song from this mystery album. What a lost treasure this is turning out to be.
