I’ll put this here, since it’s about the new album and he’s out promoting the new single/album:

@jambajim Finalizing my @thedavidcook q’s. Don’t worry. I’ll ask him plenty about “Fade Into Me,” or as I like to call it, “The One About Doin’ It.”

Suddenly, things have gotten way, way more interesting.

Here is the info about the TLM release party from DCO:

(New York – NY) – David Cook announces today he will be teaming with the iconic Paramount Hotel in Times Square, NYC to celebrate the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album This Loud Morning on June 28th, 2011 which Entertainment Weekly just called one of the “10 Summer Albums We Can’t Wait to Hear.”

Immediately following his performance on the NBC’s Today Show, David will head to the Paramount Hotel in Times Square for a special This Loud Morning performance for contest winners, hotel guests, and VIPs.

ETA: Thanks for the vids mj. :)

Why can’t I ever go to one of these “intimate” setting shows. I have only seen him once and I was in the very back of approx 11,000. I could barely see the jumbotron. :(
Twitter has him performing on the Today show June 28. If that is the case, my work has an office in Rockfeller center. That will be me hanging from the window.

  • Trina

The last record release party all I had to do was camp out in the middle of Times Square in 18 degree whether hoping to get a wristband. This is going to be worse isnt it?

    Heh heh – for real.

Heh. I will be looking for you, pattycake.

Word. I’m so bummed that he’s doing ALL these acoustic radio shows and I’m missing out. I don’t think he’ll be doing this many after this record’s out.

The hotel show thing seems interesting. Hope we get vids. June, alas, is turning out to be crazy for me. I’m missing the 6-Flags show too. Gahh. Woe is me, lol.

I love how he’s dressed to match the album cover. He sounds exhausted, but I guess he had a good time with Ryan Star!

Damn, is he never going to do “Rolling in the Deep” ever again? I hope it doesn’t end up on the ash heap with “Little Sparrow” and “All I Really Need is You.” :-(

  • wordnerdarchie

Looking at my hotel reservation for the Paramount hotel, life is very good. :)

I wanna know why Ryan was anywhere near his chest hair..Wonder if a hot tub was involved this time.

I am loving all these interviews. I’m just a grinning like a possum eating persimmons watching them (southern expression). He is looking really fine and he’s so funny.

I love all the acoustic shows. Been great hearing David’s voice front and center.

  • fadetowhite

Too many Cookie goodies to comment on at the moment, so I’ll just say that I love them all and cannot wait for – what is it now? – 18 days time!

  • Incipit

I see the VH1 Big Morning Buzz thing from today has been added to this thread – snatched this over from the headlines thread –

“.. someone did get the four write-in questions to the Big Morning Buzz up on youtube – and they are more interesting than anything the hostess was coming up with, as usual. – Here.

According to this young lady’s tweet, it looks like David is getting to sing with that kids’ chorus he challenged:

@loriinsi Just got word that Mr. Cook will be at the school by me (to sing w/chorus) in a few mins. Everyone I know that works there left. Ughhhhh! :(

  • pattycake

@jambajim Finalizing my @thedavidcook q’s. Don’t worry. I’ll ask him plenty about “Fade Into Me,” or as I like to call it, “The One About Doin’ It.”

Now I as excited for his interview as I am the record.

Sassycatz, that is excellent cool news – they made it work! I know end of the school year logistics were a concern when David sent that invitation out back in May – but the chorus said it was an offer they couldn’t refuse. Heh. Another item to look forward to.

  • Sassycatz

    Ah, proof from the Dr.:

@nealfingtiemann I got to play guitar with the kids and staff of PS22 in Staten Island. http://t.co/UuB8mg5

Awesome interviews! Articulate, sincere, and funny. So many interview goodies, didn’t get to the music yet. Thanks, MJ.

Love it when David dresses like the star he is.

    Excited for June 28!

Behind the Mic…Lessons from the Hard Rock w/Race Taylor

I can’t begin to explain how much I LOVE our Up Close and Personal Series. Aside from the great musical performances we always seem to learn something when we have the chance to talk with people who are so creatively gifted. Last night was no different.

I was on the stage as the host last night. Just about an arms length away from David Cook…even during the songs. After the first two, you couldn’t help but notice how effortless it all seemed. He had such command, such control…a confidence with his vocal abilities. Even when it sounds like he’s pushing, or reaching for the higher register, or utmost of emotional outpouring…it was effortless. We asked David if it was always that way, and he talked about his “break through” moment.

Week 3 of American Idol he was sure he was going home, so he pulled back some. Didn’t care about what everyone else thought. Just went out and sang for himself…screw the judges…tried to lose himself in the moment…feel the song. It worked, and he eventually went on to win the whole thing back in Season 7.

In that explanation was my lesson for the night. Sure he called it “not caring” but as an artist or performer, you always care a little bit. Maybe it was more like “letting go”…

Trust me when I tell you every time the mic opens on the radio, there is a mistake. The radio show that comes out on the air NEVER comes out like you hear it in your head. Words are flubbed, thoughts change, tongue doesn’t co-operate, audio is misfired…That’s where it gets fun…”I’ve got 20 seconds to get out of this” thinks the DJ…”how am I gonna do that”.

Today when that happens, most likely around say 3:05 PM, we’ll try to apply our lesson from David, and just “let it go”…If the philosophy works on stage, and it works on the radio, it might just have some real life applications as well. Go ahead…”let it go”!

  • Incipit

That was a very cool thing to write – he really seems to respect David as a performer and a person – always has nice things to say about him, I think ever since the first time Neal and David came to the WPLJ studios for “Light On”.

  • karrahbrooke

Wow I totally remember that drink he was talking about in the Morning Buzz interview, Surfer on Acid. He talked about it in a couple of interviews after he won. He said it had pineapple juice and jager, and I’m pretty sure he said it had Red Bull in it back in the day. I can’t believe I remember that!

On another note, I love all these cookie goodies! I can’t wait for June 28th, especially after seeing that tweet from Jim. :)

  • Eyeswideshut2

I kinda hate myself for this, but the drink (AKA the ‘Cookie’) consisted of equal parts Jäger, Raz-ma-tazz, cranberrry juice, and pineapple juice. :-)
