David Cook performed at the Glamour Magazine 2008 Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall last night. Glamour honored Nicole Kidman, Hillary Clinton, Tyra Banks and many others for their “inspirational” achievements.

Check out this report from Entertainment Tonight. David and Hillary Clinton are interviewed together. She says she was “very happy” David Cook won. LOL. Ever the politician!

ETA: From the Huffington Post.

And to top off the night, none other than the trailblazer herself, Hillary Clinton. Friend Mary Steenburgen presented the American Idol fan with a surprise, a one-on-one serenade from David Cook with “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.”

ETAA: David also met Condoleezza Rice and Fergie. I wonder who he was most excited about meeting? Heh.

Watch David perform “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” at the event, HERE. Afterward, he introduces Hillary Clinton.

Also, a couple of radio interviews from yesterday:

From Mix 98.5 in Boston: David talks about the trip to Iraq he has planned in January to entertain the troops there. He also mentions that his favorite Christmas song is “Happy Christmas (War is Over)” by John Lennon.

Cook did not disappoint—he presented himself so well and sounded great.

Wow, what a year it has been for him!

We need an MP3 of the Glamour performance

There were definitely some cougars there. LOL. I know that look really well :redface_wp:

David probably went out and bought that suit the day before – so that his 2nd suit now and yes his boots made it hike up and didn’t make the sitting to standing transition so I’m with a few other posters – my vote is to leave the pants off next time to avoid that happening again. (slaps face…) okay I’m okay now.

Love the “HI” OMG he just makes me smile so much.

You know what, he just gets hotter and hotter by the day. He looked and sounded wonderful. Hillary Clinton may not have won the nomination, but she certainly has won my admiration for her taste in Idols.

I don’t know where to post this but here it is:

Thanks, everyone, for all of the David Cook questions. I havenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t met a more down-to-earth, good-natured, scene-free artist in ages à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ no small feat considering winning American Idol means, at the very least à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ front-page news, a spot on Saturday Night Live, and a national TV spot featuring you dancing around in your skivvies à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ he seemed truly touched that so many DC fans submitted so many thoughtful questions.

Of the many things David discussed in the interview today, he shared his favorite author (that disemboweling sceneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a CLASSIC!), boiled down his experience on American Idol to just three words, told us that heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s THISCLOSE to getting a dog (aww!), and told us about one fan gift he may be regifting to Mom. Or not.

Check back next week for the video footage of David Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Buzzworthy interview. And until then, watch his new video, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Light Onà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ shot at L.A. Valley College in Los Angeles.

One question. Why on neither radio interview did they ever mention Light On? They talked about the self titled album and KISS was even playing TOML when they introduced him. I honestly don’t get it. Light On is really a great song and he does a fantastic job. Why do they avoid any mention of it on the radio?

Thanks for the video mj. Much appreciated. Thanks to everyone here for all the great links. Cook looked adorable and sounded awesome.

WPLJ and AMA? Hey good morning for me~ They have been playing him let’s not blame the wrong station LOL.

  • FolkFan

Thanks, widz—I love how just about every journalist that directly deals with DC ends up thinking well of him.

Nice that he’ll be on two NYC stations on 11/18. Does anyone know if the acoustic cafe thing on WPLJ will be broadcast? Should be high-quality. I hope that he brings Neal with him—I loved the two of them playing together in the instructional video.

  • sma11ie

Aww, it was the short version, but still wonderful and he was adorkable, so no complaints and yay for crumbs!

    WPLJ and AMA?

    What AMA?

ETA: Nevermind, caught up on the Headlines thread.

Hilary, your consolation prize was sooooooo much better than the win, baby girl.
Seven days until Cookie-Time. I’m going mad with antici……….pation.

This post and thread has made me giddy. I cannot stop grinning and chuckling every time I think of Hillary Clinton (and all those high-profile women) being a fan of David Cook. When did that happen? Only when she was running for President of the USA. It’s too funny-awesome!

David looked awed in the interview clip, and yet, there was that ability to express himself, that irrepressible laugh. The acoustic Yo’ Face was too short but still shiver-inducing. The boots — well, David likes to laugh at himself. That should keep him grounded in all of this!

My face hurts from smiling and laughing so much. And more is still to come!
