I just deleted a bunch of posts. I would suggest that you allow your fellow posters to have an opinion without giving them the third degree, and then mocking her like she’s not here. I’m not talking about the posts that were talking about the fandom in general, but the posts that were directed straight at Kimberann.

There are some things that are better just to let go.

Plus I have a suspicion there’s a fully functioning salon on that bus run by Neal and Andy already. Neal in particular appears to be a mean hand with Hombre Solutions, wouldn’t surprise me if he occasionally got hold of Dave’s hair too. Yeah, I’m on Team Neal.

On the fandom issue: I agree with others that he has been as gracious and kind as humanly possible in many difficult circumstances. Unfortunately because of the invasion of his bus — currently his home — and some other crazy fan behavior, I think David does have to be more careful now. I think he’ll still come out to meet fans, but I think the security conditions will be different, and rightfully so, when he does after this. I’d be more inclined for him to hire real tour security than a stylist if they’re going to add any more people on those buses, frankly.

Considering all that David has had to endure from fans, he has made himself extremely accessible whenever possible. I attended a very small show, in a very small town, which of course, made it easier for David and the guys to come out and mingle a bit. But even in Chicago, during the AI tour, with some fans being so rude right in front of his face, shouting for the other beloved Idol, he maintained his grace and composure, in a way I would have never been able to. I also agree with the poster who said David really owes people attending his concert a great show and nothing more. I think the reason I have always had a great time, is that I never go with any expectations of “meeting” him after.

I don’t refer to him as St. David, or put him on a pedestal, but I do have enormous respect for his talent and his participation and contributions to a cause he so dearly believes in. Ok – I guess I do have him up on a pedestal just a wee bit!

He was sweet as can be when I met him, but I’m sure he’s not nice all the time… I’m nice most of the time but if you caught me on a bad day I’m pretty bitchy . I’m sorry you were unlucky to have a bad experience twice! I do think the meetings at the buses should stop – it’s an offshoot of Idol expectations I think, and at least safety wise if nothing else it’s time for it to go away.

Kimberann, please don’t take any of what I said about OTT fandom as making fun of you. You were really the best kind of fan for David as far as I was concerned — just very positive without putting any of the other Idols down. You never seemed to get caught in that crazy Idol fanwarring stuff that always seems to accompany fandom of any Idol. The stuff I was writing about insane fandom was really pointing fingers at my own OTT-ness as well as things that I’ve seen other fans do. Sorry you had a not-too-great experience with David. Hopefully you can still enjoy his music though, even if you’re not such a big fan of him personally anymore.

Idletard can be mean, but I think some of those people actually admit to being cook fans. Isn’t the whole premise of the site that it’s fans who turn in info on other fans? They are supposed to be so disgusted with the behavior within their own ranks that they want to “out” it. So no, I don’t think they are pretending not to like him, some of them openly admit to liking him.

The admin- hell the site itself – is an offshoot of VFTW so yep, the tone is harsh. Its now become part of the idol fan experience, for better or worse.

I still like Dave, just not in the way that I did.

I don’t think there is ANYTHING wrong with that, kimberann, so no need to feel bad– liking an artist for his music without thinking he’s the best human being in the world is a totally normal thing . Keep on keepin on. I also don’t think anyone was making fun of you, so I hope you don’t feel targeted or mocked. Some of these DC threads just tend to get snarky.

Post-ho’ing a bit, but I checked out those pictures from the acoustic CBTM radio gig (wants audio/video, now!), and may I just say, WTF is going on with Neal’s look? Here we are snarking on DC’s shitty hair for 3 pages, but no one comments on Neal’s grampa hat and weird stache…?

Yeah, that Itoltard person seriously sucks and can’t hold a candle to the much cooler Top Idol, IMHO. She actually went to the Cook show in Northampton, and while she had some rather harsh things to say about a few of the fans, she loved Cook and the band, and she wasn’t “too cool for school” to say so.
