American Idol alum, and Season 7 winner David Cook was in Sweetwater’s Studio A recently to record an acoustic version of his latest song, “Fade Into Me,” for the 6th volume of Majic Miracle Music.

It’s a compilation CD of tunes recorded in Sweetwater’s studios by national recording artists, and sold to benefit Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis

Thanks MJ.  Just shows what talent this guy has.  No circus, no autotune just pure unadulterated talent.

This song is much better acoustically

Dave has done a lot of different charity things in the last 1-2 years.  I wonder how many more he’s done that we haven’t heard about?  Some we’ve heard just because of tweets by other people in attendance.  It’s heartwarming to hear that so many of the idol contestants are very active in charitable events.  Some are in front of the camera, and some are behind the scenes.  Well done.

Love this video of David Cook. You wonder what thoughts are going thru his head as he’s gazes towards the camera. What a gifted and generous man he is.

I found it adorable that he keeps rubbing his tummy because he is used to having a guitar with him. I also think when he does interviews he likes to rub his chin sometime, because he wants to bite his fingernails. Lovely version of FIM.

I thought this was a terrific video, and it sounds like a great cause. I love the acoustic version of this song.  It was probably done within the last week or so,  I know he’s in KC now.

Aga,  I don’t know for sure but I think him touching his stomach that way  might have been a singing technique.

It was recorded on November 23, 2011.  It states that at the beginning of the video.  Dave was in Ft. Wayne, IN doing a benefit concert sponsored by WAJI radio that day.  Here’s the thread from DCO that records those events. http://www.davidcookofficial.com/us/content/23-nov-2011-ft-wayne-free-acoustic-concert-jefferson-pointe-sponsored-waji

Sounds so pretty, looks very cute. But for a minute there I thought he was gonna raise his shirt and check his belly hole for lint. LOL

He’s a much better guitar player than what he gets credit for.

Here’s an article about David’s involvment in Girls up: http://www.postchronicle.com/news/entertainment/article_212394353.shtml#.TvZ0U6l0r8I.twitter

Also, he raised 16,000 just on his birthday (Dec 20) from fans donating to ABC2 for the LA Marathon.

I love this song a hell lot and I’ve been waiting like forever for an acoustic version. Thank you mj.

I think so too, but he has played acoustically before by himself, there were some at his homecoming during AI, and right after AI, too, I think it was the Walmart Shareholders meeting.

Love the video too, because it almost looks like there are twin Davids, one singing and one playing guitar.  I’d love to see that concert :)

Something that I really admire about David, other than his voice, songwriting ability and talent, is that he uses whatever celebrity status he has to help others.  I’ve even heard him say this in interviews, that one of the best things to him is that he has resources to help others by raising money for charities.

I agree he probably does more than we know, because he is also involved with Shadow Buddies, which a charity that I think is based out of Kansas City, which makes dolls for sick children where the doll has what is wrong with the child, to help the child deal with what is wrong.  His family has been involved with this too, his mother was working for them.

Proud to say I’m a fan of his.

David is so cute, he’s a good singer, but that song is unremarkable, he is so much better than having to do songs like that.

Right.  FIM is sooooo unremarkable, like baby baby baby oooo  oooo oooo.  At least FIM has a story and it’s beautifully delivered by Cook.  I’d  much rather listen to this than someone singing the same line over and over again.

I was fortunate enough to see this song performed live in its acoustic form, without a microphone in a 2500 seat auditorium.  I also had the good luck of seeing it performed live at Cook’s last concert of This Loud Tour at Irving Plaza in New York City.  He had a “moment” with that song.  I can say unequivocally, that it is not an ordinary song as sung by David Cook.

Comfortably, the article is in reality the greatest on this noteworthy topic. I concur with your conclusions and will thirstily look forward to your upcoming updates.

Not just live,  I’ve gotten that from videos, but I’m sure it’s even better in person.  I went to once of his acoustic shows last summer and it was absoulutely mesmerizing.

wow thanks WordNerdArchie for posting this totally acoustic/totally unplugged version of FIM. I had been looking for it on FB. This song really has taken on new meaning, live. It went from being a standard love ballad between guy & girl, to really connecting David and his live audiences. He had me in tears by the end when I heard him perform it in York, PA. And that last one in NYC was truly exceptional. If you haven’t seen David Cook perform live before, do yourself a favor and go next time he’s in your town. He really puts on a rockin’ show!

I like the duality of the video: one part with he nervous, concertated  to give his best vocals, the other relax, clam, no worries, even pleased with the vocals he gave before while he was recording the guitar-part. I hope a good musical year for him in 2012 even though his label would not support TLM anymore; maybe a duet, a vocal-guest, some unexpected projects…?!
