David Cook backstage to visit fellow Season 7 Idol Alum, Carly Smithson (check out hre red wig!) who is a performer in the cast of Cirque du Soleil’s Viva Elvis.

David  tweeted last night, “Love seeing friends kicking ass and happy. @CarlySmithson and co. were awesome in Viva Elvis! Everyone should go see it if given the chance.”

Season 7 Top 24 contestant Luke Menard was also in the audience.

David is in Vegas to play an acoustic set with his band at the 94.1 Pet-a-Palooza concert at Star Nursery Fields.

    Wow, Ustream is way better than a cell-cast. Really great, so clear. David sounds so great. Really enjoyed hearing Paper Heart along with songs from CD 1. Also enjoyed the covers he did.

    OMG, he sounded so amazing on Rolling in The Deep. I always thought David had a really soulful voice– I can’t believe it, it’s like one of my dreams to have David cover Adele and he rocked it!

    One of my dreams, too, and I absolutely LOVE that song!

    Listening to Drive and Rolling in the Deep again on the Ustream recording, I mean seriously, is there any question why this man won American Idol? He is the king of covers. He and Kris Allen just have that innate ability to pick the right song and do it the right way. Don’t You (Forget About Me), Just Died in Your Arms, Man in the Box, Hot for Teacher, Little Lies, Hunger Strike, High and Dry, now these two additions to the arsenal? They’re all amazing.

    Sounds like some more videos are nearing completion and should surface soon. Hoping we get some further back from the monitors so there’s not such a vortex of distortion on the audio.

    I love the Adele cover but they have to tighten the middle part. Maybe, I love how Adele does it live but the whole clapping thing needs work. Still, this is like a fangasm for me since I both love David & Adele so much.
