David Cook and Carly Smithson – Batting Practice with the Mets

David Cook and Carly Smithson set off to the New York’s Shea Stadium during some down time yesterday.   They were invited by Mets player David Wright.
David took some batting practice with the Mets, and then later in the afternoon, he and Carly lead the stadium crowd in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.   A nice gallery of pictures can be found here.

    Fan video from Shea Stadium: David and Carly singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.
    Appearantly, they had a jersey for Michael Johns. Was he supposed to be there as well?

    Too bad Micheal couldn’t make it because it looked like fun. You can barely hear Cook & Carly on that Take Me Out To The Ballgame because of the fans singing along…which is how it should be!

    Thanks for that find, Jolene, it sure looks like Michael must have originally expected to join them. I can’t quite make it out in the video but Carly’s hat looks different than a Mets cap, maybe she was wearing a Padres one, which would be expected as she lives in SD.

    The colors on Carly’s cap are certainly the right ones for SD. Okay, I forgive her ;)

    Carly wore two different colored METS hats. The blue one in the picture above and a black one (go figure Carly in black ) that had the Mets logo on the front and said, “Shea Stadium 1964-2008″ on the back of it.

    A Mets season ticket holder who posted some pictures on one of the other boards said if Carly had put on a Padres hat that she would “have heard about it”.

    You can tell David played baseball before because he has good form with his throws and his at bat…. not that I was looking at his form or anything… just that his body positions itself just right to get the proper technique… *clears throat* *shuts up*
