David Archuleta’s Next Single Called ‘Something ‘Bout Love’

I’m excited to hear this! I’ve always liked Archie’s voice. I don’t know how big a radio impact he’ll make in that IMO he’s in the awkward position of being more sophisticated than CHR but being too young for the HAC format. But I hope the song’s good and he catches on in a big way.

i’m forming no expectations, trying harder than hard not to… just want to hear it… just hear what david is bringing… oooo, want to know who the writers are on this one – if it’s an eman/claude kelly or dapo/priscilla renae thing, if it’s one david helped write – i guess it’s hurry up and wait on that…

That’s all true. I’d revised what I said to reflect what I really meant about Archie gravitating towards music beyond his years but you know I shouldn’t have even mentioned that side of things. This is a time to be excited and curious about how he’s grown and how the music’ll reflect that. Crush is honestly my favorite debut single from anybody from AI. IMO it hit the mark perfectly.

Too, I can’t think of anybody in any genre right now who’s got that vocal tone Archie has. With most people you can say they sound a little like this person or that person. Not Archie IMO. For that reason alone I’m rooting for him to come back with a smash.

What are the chances there will be an early leak??

I’m curious about that too! If it was an Eman/Claude Kelly or David Hodges cowrite, those are guys who may tweet clues about it prior to July 13th? I do hope it’s something Archie helped write as well. I’m really interested to hear his direction, and hearing his own writing will give me a better sense than anything, I think. Also, I just think it’s so rare that Idols get co-writes released as singles that it’d just be nice to see.

David and co. have been so tight-lipped about everything (well, except for “twitter games with eman”) so I am sort of expecting no leaks.

It could be the song that David talked about that was written by Jess Cates, Claude Kelly, and Eman. David said back in April that they were thinking about it for the single. He said that he really liked the song and that the label did as well. Or it could be a completely different song.

There is almost always a leak though. How do they expect people to buy the song if they don’t know what it sounds like. So I’m betting we will hear it some how, some time before the release date. “Crush” was debuted on Z100 before it was officially released for sale wasn’t it? Well, I guess that’s not exactly a leak. What I’m saying is, we will probably hear the song before July 13th.

GG, I agree! “Live Like We’re Dying” did not make any top charts as it started out, but with time and pushing it, it became a “hit”. It was a good song which just needed air time. That is the key here. And that is what so many of us are hoping and praying that Jive will do.
David is the only teen male from Idol who has such great potential to be successful. And the last couple of years with all the teens who are making hits, they would do well to push the heck out of David’s single.

ozarko, David’s website had information about a Fan package where fans could select items in the fan package or suggest ideas. One of the selected items was an engraved photo frame with Something Bout Love on it. Shortly after they posted that they took out the title and now it just says engraved photo frame. People were speculating that that was the title of the single and they made a mistake by putting it up on the website.

Sophmore album, first single from it. This is all going to make me a nervous wreck from worry,lol. I’m anxious/excited to watch this next leg of his career unfold, but at the same time am somewhat apprehensive. How will the song be received? Will it “hit” similar to Crush or be treated like ALTNOY? Will the single go up the sales and radio play charts rapidly or will it be a slow climber, or worse, will it stall out. It’s an uneasy feeling. Oh the angst! lol.

(Don’t mind me folks, it’s my nature to worry too much from time to time, lol)

I am really excited to hear this single mostly because I want to see which direction David is going with his 2nd pop album. If the title MJ gave is right, I can picture this song as airy with a happy vibe. Kind like Hey, Soul Sister.

If the 2 songs David sang recently in his concert is an indication, I can picture this album full of midtempo, even uptempo songs with a couple of power ballads (he’s got to have a power ballad in there, he is no David Archuleta for nothing)

When I first heard Jordin’s Battlefied and Kelly’s MLWSWY, I knew it would be a hit.
So we’ll see with this single.

I’d bet money that a song with that title is NOT a ballad. Something About Love could be a ballad, but dropping the A on “about” could work great with a quick beat but would sound . . . i don’t know . . . illiterate? on a slow song. Also, open vowel sounds are the bread and butter of a ballad. It would be counterproductive to drop one. If that’s the title, then that’s an upbeat pop song (or at least the chorus is).

I don’t like the ‘Bout part of the title, it’s hard to say lol, but I really hope this does well. I never liked Archie on the show, but he is just so damn cute that resistance is futile. His personality on twitter comes out so much more than on Idol, and he has really grown up. I expect this to be an uptempo song too, which will hopefully help it do well on radio. Good luck Archie!

‘American Idol’: David Archuleta’s next single titled ‘Something ‘Bout Love’

“American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta is busy promoting his new book “Chords of Strength” and debuting new songs in concert. But he is also working on a new album and according to MJ’s Big Blog, Archie’s next single will be titled “Something ‘Bout Love.”

The single will be available on July 13 on DavidArchuleta.com and on iTunes on July 20. Are you getting excited for Archie’s latest release? The aforementioned new album will be his third studio effort and is reportedly due out later this year, though no official date has been announced.

The recent new songs Archie debuted were “Not a Very Good Liar” and “Parachutes and Airplanes.” We wonder why one of those isn’t the next new single? David’s next big appearance is performing in “A Capitol Fourth” on the 4th of July in Washington D.C.
