ETA….oh, and regarding the topic of this thread, I don’t know much about what it means to be releasing his album in Japan. I thought all idols albums went here and there internationally. So not sure of the significance if any. Is there? Or is this just an FYI?

I have never heard anyone say that he has ever for one second been anything but the nicest lad on Earth. Not a single diva story in a year of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Idol.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  That is an accomplishment.

Seriously, the young man has had an awesome year. He’s grown so much, and while I may not be an archie, or arch angel, I am a fan, and damn proud of it.

First off… Happy birthday to David! What a year he’s had! And I love Rushfield’s birthday wishes–so sweet and so true.

And second, I think he may have a real shot of being very successful in Japan. He just seems like the type of artist that they’ll really take to. He’s already quite popular in other Asian countries–Malaysia and Singapore particularly.

Here are a couple of pieces of news from abroad which are more in keeping with the international flavor of the original topic…

“A Little Too Not Over You” is #1 on Monster Radio RX 93.1, a popular radio station in the Philippines, for the 3rd straight week! Very impressive, considering the fact that it hasn’t even been officially released as a single here in the States.

David’s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crushà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  music video made it to #1 on the Top 20 Countdown on a Honduran TV show called à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Velocidad Sonido.” Cruzceleste is from Honduras. Maybe she can tell us more about it.

Legal to vote and to drink in Argentina, Estonia, Hong Kong, Moldova and Sweden à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’  but not in the U.S. Legal to appear on television shows without having to do hours of tutor-supervised studies. And now legally of age to marry in all 50 of the United States.

He is also legal to drink here in Honduras, but he can marry unless Jeff or Lupe sing a permission ( you can marry before 21 with out your parents permission)…. you US people are funny with the law, you think people can made decission about who to spent their life with but don ´t believe they can handle their Tequila… I found this really funny… :drunk_tb:

Well I will said this, considering how little people watch Idol here in Honduras Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m really surprised that he is at number one… the countdown is transmitted in Canal 21 which has at least 10% of the rating of the principal TV station here in Honduras, so is not the biggest countdown here… but this mean that there is very little possibility that people who watch Idol see this program, because the demographics in buying power of both are very different, so I will said that he is gaining new fans in Honduras, and that is great because now my friends wont look at me like Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m crazy… ahem… :thumbup_tb: and this also means that since Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not watching the program I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t vote 200billion times for Crush so he is there because he deserve it… ;D…the program is transmited Monday to Friday at 5pm an the countdown is done in saturdays at the same hour…

More important than that Canal 21 has the rights to trasmite the programs from MTv since 1996, so this means that MTv latin america is using David ´s video and that is the big news here… GO DAVID :clap_tb: :clap_tb:

International releases are confusiing. I thought Cook’s album was already out in Japan (not sure though). Have the Davids’ albums been released in England yet? Anyway, I’d love to know how Idols have done internationaly. I know Kelly Clarkson was huge but haven’t heard much about any others except Elliott whose album went gold in Japan this fall. Any Idol historians have any knowledge to share?

And Happy Bday – Archie. 18 is a big one.

I think Archie could do really well in Japan. Young women drive the market here and they love cute, sweet, sugary pop. I think I have developed cavities from listening to Japanese radio too long. Although quality-wise Crush is practically Mozart compared to what passes for Pop in Japan, IMHO.

I don’t think Cook is out in Japan. I haven’t seen his CD in any stores. (Although I have seen bootlegged copies. – Get the lead out RCA – you’re losing business.)

David A.’s album is set to be released in the UK sometime in March, with “Crush” in February. I thought I heard somewhere here that Cook’s album was also set to be released in the UK, but I haven’t heard more about it. I don’t think Cook is released in Japan, yet (other than music stores getting imports). He may be released in other Asian countries though, ones that don’t normally require a promotional push and a full-on single release from the local distributing label. I think Japan normally gets the full promotional campaign–it’s a huge music market. So it requires coordination. I’m sure Cook will be released in Japan next year, too.

That Rushfield piece is downright lovely.

I think David will do very well in the Asian market. His singles seem to be doing very well in several countries.

I think Japan has very good pop music like Nana Kitade ,Olivia , LÂ ´Arc en Ciel, Suemitsu, Maaya Sakamoto, Shikao Suga,Wino , Aluto, Asian Kung Fu Generation, YeLLOW GENERATION,Yuumao ,Aqua Timez , Spitz, The Brilliant Green just to name a few …

And not in great artistry but really great vocals have Keita Tachibana, Hey!Say!7 ( and I know this is really bublegum pop), Stephanie …

Beside I hear that people from Asian Countries are pitch perfect, so Archie will do great there…Good Luck to him!!!

Hope David is enjoying his 18th birthday immensely. It’s been an amazing year leading upto it and I wish him so much more success in the months and years to come.
