David Archuleta and Sara Bareilles

David Archuleta blogs about his busy week, traveling from Orlando, Florida for the American Idol Experience grand opening to New Orleans for the Mardis Gras Caesars parade and radio station concert.

He had dinner with Gavin Degraw and Tony Orlando who David described as “2 of the coolest and nicest people.” Plus, he got to meet one of his favorite artists Sara Bareilles.

The final thing I’m going to talk about is my first time going to New Orleans. I was there to be in the Caesar Parade on Valentine’s Day, and that was way cool. I got to throw tons and tons of beads to people. The night I got there, I was able to eat dinner with Gavin Degraw and Tony Orlando, who are like 2 of the coolest and nicest people you could ever know. We ate at a restaurant called Impastato’s, and oh my heck! It was AMAZING! It was so good we went to eat there the next day lol. But Tony and Gavin were to performing in New Orleans too. Tony already performed that night, but Gavin was performing the next day so we went to see him perform. He was great. After him though…. I had a big surprise lol. We didn’t know that Sara Bareilles was going to be on after him!! I couldn’t believe that I was going to see Sara Bareilles without even planning on it or knowing she was there! Haha it was so cool! She’s sooo good live too. I got a chance to talk to her and she was talking about how nice my fans were. So thanks to all of you guys!! I thought that was so cool of her to mention that, and how we could both agree on that. But anyway, I was really happy haha. The parade was right after that, and it was neat because we had police escorts to take us where we needed to go. When we got to the float is was crazy how many people were asking for autographs lol. I wasn’t expecting so many of them. But yeah, the parade started and it began to rain. I like the rain though so

I didn’t mind too much. I was just hoping I didn’t get sick haha. It was way fun though!

Also, David’s performance of “A Little Too Not Over You” aired on Nickelodeon last night during the repeat episode of iCarly, featuring David. Watch the video after the JUMP…

    Wow! His GIGANTIC smile says it all in that pic! He’s always fanboying over Sara in interviews when her name comes up…it’s so freakin’ adorable! I love that he gets so excited about these things…he’s just a normal teenager after all and that is very refreshing!

    According to FOD, Sara asked David to sing with her on stage but, alas, he wasn’t contractually allowed to do it. But I’m sure he was thrilled to have been asked.

    I am so glad that he got to meet Sara Bareilles, he has spoken so highly of her so it must have been a kick for him. Even better is the mention of how nice his fans are. So many times it’s really not the case, idol fans of all contestants sometimes have a very bad reputation. So it’s good to see the flip side of that.

    David is checking them off the list slowly, but surely. He’s hung with Natasha and met both Gavin and Jason. Johm Mayer has to be next.

    As for the dinner with Gavin, I hope they talked shop. I wouldn’t be surprised down the road if they wrote or toured together. It would be a nice fit I think for both of them.

    Does alot of David’s blogs mention food, and how good it was? He’s such a boy. They are hungry all of the time at that age. And they went back the next night, lol. Love him.

    WOW!!! How cool that Sara asked David to sing up there on stage with her…how sad though that he couldn’t but I am so glad the he’s able to me one of his”idols”….and I am also glad that he’s blogging more…..Go Archey!!!!

    Too bad he couldn’t sing with her, that would have been great. Seriously though, wouldn’t that be just great press for him. Right now I am sure there would be tens of thousands of hits on youtube if he had been able to sing. A missed opportunity imho.

    Anyway, I did want to comment on his smile. Sometimes he has to force a smile when he does the meet n greets, this was so natural, the joy just jumps out at you. He’s in heaven.

    Geez his contract must be tight! He couldn’t even take a group picture with his friends at his senior ball. He is beaming there though so I don’t think he minds!

    David is enthusiastic about people, food and places. That isn’t so much a ‘normal teenage trait’ as a ‘normal David trait.’ I love that about him.

    Wonder how you get a guy to look his age?..with young looking girls it easier, just makeup and a change of hairstyle.

    David–stop smiling, do the Elle pose, don’t look at the camera but off into the distance, grow a beard, shave off the hair. Do we have any other suggestions?

    IGetCranked, was the senior ball thing contractual or just to insure the privacy of his friends who are not celebrities? Imagine if a picture like that got out. I mean the ramifications of revealing who his date was, and opening up his friends to be harassed probably had more to do with the photo black out, imho of course.

    I actually think that this was the prerequisite for him being allow to participate. I may be wrong, but it seems plausible.

    Kathy, the enthusiasm is all David, the male teen hunger thing more normal teen trait.

    That’s sad David wasn’t allowed to sing on stage with Sara. His contract is kind of strict. I think it’s interesting that Sara knew of David long before she met him because of the fans they have in common bringing him up all the time. Glad she sees that as a good thing. David’s performance of ALTNOY on iCarly was very good! There’s a cool video on Snarkies from a radio station in New Orleans of David tossing beads to the crowd.

    I don’t think David looks 12 at all, but either way, looking young is a very good thing. His mother looks way young for her age. I am jealous!

    Maybe Sara and David will do some music together sometime. I wonder if not being allowed to sing was partly about not being prepared. It would be nice to know the reasoning.

    David’s youthful looks could be considered a negative at this exact moment in time (not to me — I think he’s a handsome eighteen) but later on, they should be a real plus.

    The giddiness of that grin is contagious. I imagine a voice in his head shouting “ohmyheckohmyheckohmyheck I’m standing with Sara Bareilles ohmyheck!” (sorry, I’m just really fond of the phrase “oh my heck,” as I’d never heard it before.)

    I was noticing the new duds. And then I saw a picture on FanScene of David and his Abuelita where the caption indicated they went on a clothes shopping spree while he was in Orlando. haha! Since Jeff and Lupe are letting him become known as the King of Rewear….leave it to grandma. heh heh

    Although to be fair, when I was his age anything my parents said went in one ear and out the other. On the other hand, whatever grandma asked of me got done pronto. haha!

    abbysee, Gavin “opened” for David at the Albany Jingle Jam in December. It was so cute! In between many of Gavin’s songs, he would say things like, “I gotta get done here because I KNOW you’re all just here to see David Archuleta.” And the audience would go wild…even though he said David’s name mockingly.

    Then toward the end of his set, he got serious and praised David, saying that he’d hung out with him at other Jingle Balls and found him to be an amazing person, incredibly talented, and on and on. (YEA!!!) Then he finished by saying, “And he’s got a really cool dad!” Which I thought was pretty great, given the criticism Jeff gets sometimes.

    LOL! My personal favorite is Dabiz = David and Showbiz Shelley from B96 Chicago. But realistically, I think David doesn’t really go for much older girls (or girls much taller than him). Remember how he reacted when that interviewer thought that he and 26-year old Amy Davis were dating? That was priceless. And during the radio interview with Ryan Seacrest at Disney, he referred to cougars who go after him as à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“creepers.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  Haha!!

    I wish TPTB that surround David would come to the realization that David’s #1 Asset is his voice…Not only is he pitch perfect, but his voice is melodic as well as “interesting and Creative”. Maybe someday he will get to sing with music that doesn’t try and compete with his voice….
