Oh, I hope you guys didn’t think I forgot about David Archuleta’s appearance on The Disney World Christmas Day Parade. I didn’t. I was waiting for a good quality video to turn up. Or, I would have cut my own once I got back from my trip. One did turn up–thanks to TeamArchie for the postable vid.

Archie plays Disney spokesperson for a few minutes, pitching for Disney World in Orlando, eventually giving the audience a sneak peek of a new attraction, “The American Idol Experience,” opening on February 12.

I knew you wouldn ´t fail us MJ, very reliable… :D
    Thanks for the video…

  • hypertwink

This makes me laugh. Now, I want to watch Cook pitch the AI experience; that’ll probably be an “experience” in itself. LOL

  • soundscene

    Thanks for the video!

David’s got a unique voice–I would love him to do a voice-over one day.

  • KathyH

Watching the vids of Cook and Archie made me want to revisit Disney World. Great job by each.

Fanatastic job, David! I just got back from Disneyland a little over a week ago, and I LOVED the new ride “Toy Story Mania”. It is so fun and addictive. The line was long though, and one thing we discovered is that if you are willing to not be in pairs, you can get in the “single rider” line and get in much faster.

A tad off topic, but about DA–the iTunes charts unfroze (finally–been frozen for 2 days), and Crush moved up to #19. Other than Disturbia and I’m Yours, it’s the oldest song in the top 20! I’m very interested to see its sales for this week because judging from last year they could be pretty big. His and Cook’s albums also moved up.

^Wow for real… Go Davids!!!!!! Go strong little soldier… eh I mean Crush and go A Little Too Not Over You…

  • wordnerdarchie

Good job David. I’ve never been to Disney (yeah, I know, I’ve been deprived), but you’ve made me want to visit the next time I’m in Florida.

That’s awesome news, soundscene! I think the last time you reported Crush’s position on iTunes, it was #29. I figured that by now, everyone and their uncle have already bought a copy of Crush, so I’m really surprised to see it still chugging along. I assume you get your numbers from somewhere other than the iTunes store because it still shows up as #33 overall. Do you think you could provide us with the link to the feed that you use? I think you did try to do that on the ALTNOY video thread, but your link didn’t work. Pretty please?

If i was David, i would hate to hear myself talk..lol. but having said that, i enjoyed his commentary. i live like 2 hrs from Orlando and will probably go down there for the opening if its on the weekend. and i’ll bring my video camera!

Duke, actually David does hate his speaking voice. He’s said that in a few interviews. But it’s part of what makes him unique and endearing to his fans.

Thanks for the link, shebee! I appreciate it.

  • bluejeans

If I were David, I’d hate to hear myself speak too. But since I’m not, I find it totally adorable.

  • sabby_rina

Haha yeah David hates the sound of his voice whether he’s singing or talking. LOL

I never noticed how “airy” sounding his voice was before. It’s what makes him unique and stand out from the rest. He’s got a very distinctive voice, and I think thats pretty cool.

  • KathyH

Don’t most people dislike the sound of their voices, especially at David’s age? But yes, his voice is unique at least in part because of the vocal chord problem. I’m glad David ‘deals with it’ well enough to share.

Love that “Crush” moved up — I still can’t ‘see’ the song at 19, but I’m taking everyone’s word on it.

  • JudyOhio

I don’t see the song moved up either, and I don’t understand the feed thing. What’s with itunes not updating. Everything seems to have been frozen for 2 or 3 days now. Sorry for the OT, just wondering was all.

  • frogcooke

judy you can check different ‘feeds’ its an rss feed bookmark. this is the feed generator, you can pick what you want.

FWIW, from a non-fan (who thinks DA has a beautiful singing voice though) I didn’t find his voice (good) or voice over (better) to be bad at all. He sounded good to me.

Could be that my listening to a few of the “worst idol performances ever” over at EW just before playing DA’s Disney Parade video affected me. LOL But, I don’t think so.

Maybe fans who listen to his music all the time notice a distinct drop in voice quality when he speaks, and as fans, just want him to sound better. Who knows. But, again, I thought he handled it well, looked precious, and sounded good!

David did a very nice job on this for Disney. Just the right person to promote young cool Disney to people all over the world.

David has a very recognizable voice, both musically and speaking. People will never mistake him for another.

I checked out the site that you provided frogcooke and high five to David A. for his “Crush” single. Disney loves them some “Crush”. Thank you Disney.

  • serenade

Crush never fails ti impress. What an awesome song.

David has a very good voicevver voice. Warm and distinguishable. I’d like to see him narrate more or do the voice of a character with it. It stands out, whether he’s talking or singing. He did a very good job and I’ve actually been on most of those rides. lol

  • abbysee

I love his speaking voice. I could never mistake his voice for someone elses, singing or speaking. Distinctive is the word I was going for. Yep. David doesn’t like all of the things his fans adore about him. He hates hearing his voice, hates seeing himself on TV. Poor kid, he’s missing out on some good stuff, lol.

The numbers for Crush are incredible. That song has legs!

David has a very recognizable voice, both musically and speaking. People will never mistake him for another.

I remember when he called up at the radio station where Cook was interviewing to ask a question. He got out a couple of words and Cook immediately recognized his voice and started cracking up. His voice is VERY distinct. I love it.

    “Crush”. . . what can I say. . WOW!
