David Archuleta visits Alex Lushington in Atlanta

David Archuleta writes in his latest MySpace blog about finishing up his promo tour on the East coast.   In Atlanta he spent time with extended family, but also had the opportunity to meet up with Season 7 Top 24 contestant, Alexandrea Lushington.

David and Alex competed against each other (David won) on Star Search and then resumed their friendship when they competed again on the same season of Idol.   The night she was eliminated, David was in tears, and Alex ran over to the “couches of safety” to give him a big hug.   I thought Alex’s   “Spinning Wheel” was one of Season 7′s underrated performances.

Speaking of hanging out with Idols–David spent time backstage with Jordin Sparks, at the Boo Bash in Hartford Wednesday night…

David is currently back in LA rehearsing with his band and says that he didn’t know what to expect at first, but the band is really “awwesooomme” and right now he’s ” really pumped.”

    He is so sweet… love his little recomendation of Jordin ´s songs… if you go to youtube and look for the video you will see a lot of comments mentioning David ´s recomendation… lo this is funny…

    Archie is very sweet. It’s really nice that nice this group has been able to maintain some of their friendships after the show has ended. Alex seems like a very nice girl and it’s great that her and Archie have that special bond. :)

    I was not watching AI at this point in the season, but I have gone back to Alexandria’s elimination and it is very touching. David was so embarrassed because he was so upset about her leaving, and she was so sweet. Honestly, I think she was elimated way too early.

    I don’t know about her being eliminated too early, but that is definitely a sweet scene right there that Archie has clearly not forgotten about her :) Maybe she’ll get a role on his album?

    I remember that night when Alexandrea came down from the stage to give crying David a big hug like it was yesterday. It was so touching. Luke Menard had his arm on his shoulders comforting him. We even saw David Cook’s hand patting him on the back. It’s so nice that Alex and Archie can reunite. In this picture David looks a lot taller than he was during that elimination night. Back then it seemed Alexandrea had to actually stoop down to hug David. Has David grown some since then?

    She had some pretty big heels on that night, but yes, he’s grown some. I think I read that during the course of the show itself he’d grown half an inch taller putting him at 5’7″. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s grown some more this summer. Read lots of fan encounters this summer where people were surprised by his height based on their height and his reported height of 5’7″. He was taller than they expected. My brothers didn’t reach their full height until they were about 20 so he could gain some more. However everyone in his family is pretty small except the younger brother, so who knows.

    I think that would have been fun to watch though. Who knows, maybe they will actually do that.

    I think Alexandrea was the most underrated contestant this year. She had the talent and originality to make the top 10. My sister, who majors in music in college, picked Alexandrea as the top girl from week 1. I would’ve to see her go further in AI.

    I also thought she was very underated and eliminated way too early. I know they have a great friendship – it’s great that they still make time for each other.

    I would absolutely love to hear a duet from them!

    I loved Alex and thought it was an error of some kind when she was booted, lol. She had such a maturity in her voice, yet she was decidedly current. I was thinking Rihanna, but with a voice! I love their relationship. It seems that David has really forged alot of great friendships among his competitors. It speaks to his character imho, and theirs. I wish Alex much success and am looking forward to her music in the future.
