David Archuleta performed his last Christmas show last night in Atlanta, GA for the Star 94 Jingle Jam, along with Gavin Degraw, Colbie Caillat, Rehab and We the Kings.

Rodney Ho from Access Atlanta was there, and although he didn’t get a chance to talk to David, he did grab some video. Before performing “Crush,” there’s an early birthday cake (David turns 18 on the 28th) and a round of “Happy Birthday.” Afterward, David sings “The Christmas Song.”

More videos: A Little Too Not Over You, A Thousand Miles, Works For Me, Crush, The Christmas Song, Happy Birthday.

What a great way for David to end his highly successful and acclaimed run on the 2008 Jingle Ball circuit. He brought the energy and the good in last nights performance in Hot-lanta. The Christmas Song was once again a Masterclass in vocal delivery… didn’t think he could improve on it, but he did.

Here’s a late review about David’s performance at the recent KISS 108 Jingle Ball:

    David Archuleta

Due to an unfortunate bout of commuter exodus traffic, my companion and I arrived at the Tsongas Arena too late to catch opener Lady Gaga. Instead, we were treated to the menthol-cool vocal styling of David Archuleta, 17, a former American Idol runner-up. I was quite proud of myself for knowing this small slice of sonic trivia, though less so for legitimately enjoying his performance of current single, “Crush.” Evidently, I was not alone: everywhere screaming throngs of suburban teenage girls paid tribute to their inoffensive, non-threatening teen idol by cloaking themselves in matching sets of jean skirts, purple leggings, oversized UGG boots and David Archuleta t-shirts. Scarier? Their moms were dressed the same way.

Just saw this in the New York Observer: Excerpted to highlight the reference to David – WOW!

    http://www.observer.com/2008/o2/inaugeration-parties

While the majority of the (maybe) four million people expected to descend on Washington, D.C., for Obama’s inauguration will likely spend January 20th getting shaken down by the secret service, desperately searching for a bathroom, and unable to make phone calls, the Capitol’s celebrity guests will be preparing for one of the city’s 50 inaugural balls, parties, concerts, and after-parties. Though the big day falls smack in the middle of the Sundance Film Festival, former Daily News columnist Jo(hanna) Piazza (writing for the Daily Beast) insists that D.C. is the hotter ticket this year.

For their bash at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, the “Be the Change Inaugural Ball,” MTV and the charity Service Nation are rumored to have confirmed everyone from Beyoncà © and Jay-Z to Bruce Springsteen.

The Recording Industry of America will be at the 30,000-foot D.C. club Ibiza for their party, which is set to include guests like Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer, Lance Bass, Mariah Carey, Matthew Perry and American Idol star David Archuleta.

Happy early Birthday, D! What a great series of shows! He’s had a ball to be sure and learned much. Now, rest, David, rest. Very cool about the inauguration party.

  • ggdoorsfan

I will be in DC on Inauguration Day, and though I have no delusions of seeing either President-elect Obama or David up close and personal, I hope beyond hope he will be included in some of the performances. I think he is ready, and would more than hold his own on that hi powered world stage.

Happy Holidays David – and THANKS for a fantastic year! You deserve all the good things coming your way!

  • dlistfan

Mm, is he going to perform? It will be performing in front of John Mayer and Mariah Carey. He’s still so very young. I am thrilled he will just be there. Total d-list party though.

  • frogcooke

I think thats the inauguration party they are trying to get rihanna to headline lol

  • KathyH

I love the birthday cake video — and David’s newest rendition of “The Christmas Song.” If he attends the DC inauguration party, I hope we get pictures!

It was so sweet to give him that happy birthday cake and trick candles. haha..lol..I wish he has some rest and has fun with his family during holidays. Great job David!!! I’m so proud of you.

Oh, and why is David’s cut-out so freakishly large? lol.

  • kimk

I saw the pics at Star94 and they are hysterical! I did notice his head was very large. Loved the pic with him and Gavin too. He was on fire last night and I thought it was his best performance. He really put almost everything he had into it!

  • frogcooke

LOL the end of that interview hahahaha Flirty David haha

  • IGetCranked

Oh. My. Gawd. And the very next morning he’s doing an interview saying that he doesn’t flirt? Bahahhaa

  • IdolFanatic

Wow! Great videos! I have to say that it would be a crime of epic proportions not to put that stellar and gorgeous voice on a CD full of Christmas songs. I get chills and am simply amazed at how he can just so easily glide into all these Christmas songs acapella like that. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

  • ozarka

Loved that shot of him next to his giant self.

Here are some more pics from Atlanta. He looks like the happiest kid in the world.

And here’s a video of him with his hands on his very own Life Story Magazine.

  • IdolFanatic

OMG! That interview FTW! I swear his interviews get more and more entertaining with each passing one. Loved it when he turned the tables on her…SUCH A FLIRT!!! ROFL!

  • rockfan

I got back from the Atlanta Jingle Jam at about 3am this morning. It was a looonnnngggg, but amazing day!! I was not only in the 2nd row to hear David sing live, I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private meet and greet back stage. I am on staff at a David fan site and here are excerpts from what I blogged about after I got home:

David’s set was STELLAR!! He sang “Touch My Hand”, “Works For Me”, “A little To Not Over You”, “A Thousand Miles”, “Crush” and…”The Christmas Song”…A CAPELLA!!! As David was finishing “A Thousand Miles”, his band members brought out a birthday cake…w/o David knowing this. As David stood up from the piano to introduce his next song, he turned around and was very surprised at the sight of the band w/a cake and quite embarrassed too! One of the band members took the mic from David and said this would be the last time they see him before his birthday and they wanted to do for him. He also asked the audience to join them in singing happy birthday to David. After that, David TRIED to blow out the candles…but since they were TRICK candles…this was not possible!! It was a very cute, touching moment.

My mind is still mush right now from being both very tired and blown away, once again, by David’s ability to bring a song to life, make the audience feel the connection he has to a song and sing not only pitch perfect with his amazing voice, but enunciate every word so well and sing so clearly, that every audience member can understand and appreciate what he is singing. He truly is a great communicator through music!!

I saw David twice during the summer while he was on the AI tour and then at the Ford Day event. As amazing as I thought his previous performances were, I can not believe how much he as improved since then. His stage presence, his confidence and his voice getting richer…the whole package is beyond words!!

Here are four videos of the six songs David sang last night. This also includes the Happy Birthday surprise. The remaining two are being uploaded now.

  • Jabkmc

    Flirty David FTW! hahaha!

  • IGetCranked

I watched that backstage video and noticed what the DJ posted on it:

David is awesome…honestly I haven’t met a niicer artist. He so positive and has come such a long way since his vocal illness. Lastly, his voice is BEAUTIFUL! GO ARCHY!!!!

    ^^ Very nice!

    Thanks rockfan! Love your recap!

  • abbysee

Wow, David is really something else. That interview was awesome. He is so comfortable in these interviews. He’s learned some great skills in turning the subject in a direction that is comfortable for him, and usually charming the interviewer in the process. Fabulous!

  • wordnerdarchie

Yeah!, That video is made up of all kinds of fun. He seems very comfortable with her. He definitely is developing some flirting skills. Way to go David!

  • ozarka

Pictures at Access Atlanta. You’ll find David on pictures #5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 20. Do not miss Number 11. He looks soooo funny blowing really hard on those candles.

Awesome photos from Atlanta. Thanks Snarkys!

  • khomphuong

Billboard conducted reader’s poll: 10 Best Albums 2008….Mr. Archuleta ranks No. 2, behind someone who can’t sing Live. Here is the link..

  • davidlove

Dang. The last Jingle Ball of the year. I’ll keep my ears and eyes open here in Utah, hoping David will give us a homestate performance over the Christmas break. We’d love to hear from him!

  • RemusL

Haha… Archie is so cute. The trick candles was an inspired idea from the band. It certainly prolonged the moment for the fans and provided lots of humour. The flirty interview was great too. I think we’ll see that as Archie gets to know the various media personalities during his rounds of radio and tv stations, he’ll be more relaxed during interview sessions.

  • ozarka

Cute interview at the Minnesota Jingle Ball. It’s all about beanies and Vitamin C.

In an interview with Popeater, Miranda Cosgrove, the star of iCarly, was asked this question, “Who is the coolest guest star you got to meet on the set of ‘iCarly’?” Her answer,

I got to meet David Archuleta recently when he was on ‘iCarly.’ I really enjoyed getting to work with him because he was so down-to-earth and funny. Also, I’m a big fan of his music.
