    Thanks, MJ!

Darn, none of those venues are close to me! But then again, a five-hour drive isn’t that bad…. right?

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

^Is better than a three hours flihgt through three countries…. sads…none in Florida and none in april, I guess I will have to wait until the next tour to do my travel…

    Thanks for dates MJ….

  • chelley

Awww man…this sucks. Pomona, CA is the closest to me and it’s like…a million miles away…
    :cry_wp:

I really hope there are many, many more additions to this list of tour dates.

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

    ^Girl I feel your pain…. :cry_tb:

  • kaseybug89

When do the tickets go on sale?
I have got to have front row seats to the OKC show!!!!

  • frogcooke

North Hampton one is closest to me… wonder if I’ll be able to go.. heh.

Kasey not sure when they go on sale, some said tomorrow some said maybe tuesday.

  • Lys

When do the tickets go on sale?
I have got to have front row seats to the OKC show!!!!

Yay! :thumbup_tb: It’s good to know that at least one of us doesn’t have to trek billions of miles to go to the show, lol.

  • KathyH

I’m going to buy tx to the OKC show, too. A 5 hour drive and well worth it. I’m fairly certain that the majority of these dates are for general admission: standing only or a few seats, first come-first served. I know there are a couple of venues that have seating, but not the OKC one. I looked up the site. (Diamond Ballroom.)

I’m also thinking he’ll follow this tour with something larger, perhaps with a big name, perhaps in the summer. David’s target audience is young and many of these venues have age requirements and/or are on school nights. But this is pure speculation on my part.

  • kaseybug89

i was sooo dang pumped when i read OKC. i live in norman so i only have to drive about 20 minutes maybe 30 with traffic!
as soon as anyone knows about the tickets and where we can buy them please post!!

  • Kris

I plan to go to the OKC show as well.

  • aiken4olivia

Pomona is also closer to me butit’s still a drive and well it would be a wonderful excuse to fly to Reno to see David, but I hope he adds more cities like ahem say San Diego where he auditioned for AI7 :lol_wp: Looking forward to seeing David in concert all by himself!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

Please everybody that is goind do long recaps and take pictures and videos… please :smile1_tb:

  • hollygo9

I haven’t heard of most of those venues.

  • KathyH

How funny that so many here are going to OKC! In the other fan boards I visit, I think I’m the only midwesterner!

yes, cruzceleste, we’ll do our best to get pictures/tell our tales.

  • mac

I guess I am confused about this tour. I thought he was going to open for someone like Jordin did (wasn’t he rumored to be opening for Chris Brown at one point?). When I clicked on a few of the venues, they just don’t seem like places that his younger fans would go to (some are bars). Is he going to be touring with his new band? I don’t know, with Archie’s talent, it seems like he should be opening for someone in order to draw in new fans. This seems kind of low budget to me and not at all what I was expecting. Maybe it is a trial run just to get some experience for a bigger tour in the summer. I hope so.

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

^I think the idea is him getting more experience in banter and performing before opening for a big act…. and I don ´t know anybody who is good with Archie ´s target that is touring in the same time…

yes, cruzceleste, weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll do our best to get pictures/tell our tales.

Thank you… I hope you guys have fun :smile2_tb:

  • frogcooke

Mac its probably similar to Cookie’s college tour thingy.. lol Smaller venues and such.

Jordin didn’t start touring with a bigger act until late April/early May (it was partially delayed for her due to her vocal chord problems, too). She didn’t do any tour in February and March, period. David still has time to get on a bigger tour; there really aren’t tours in February and March that he can get on. So he’s doing this smaller tour right now–probably to get more touring and performing experience and also to please his fans. He likes the intimate setting. That doesn’t mean Jive isn’t going to push to get him on a bigger tour in late Spring/early Summer.

  • mac

Mac its probably similar to Cookieà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s college tour thingy.. lol Smaller venues and such.

I agree, it’s just that Cookie’s college tour seems to be targeted to his demographic audience. It just seems sooooo weird to me that Archie (of all people) would be playing at bars in Texas! What teen is going to be able to go to that? What parent’s are going to take their kids to a bar (perhaps in a bad area of town)? I wouldn’t. I just don’t get the logic, that’s all.

Jordin didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t start touring with a bigger act until late April/early May (it was partially delayed for her due to her vocal chord problems, too). She didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t do any tour in February and March, period.

Yes, I agree with that. I wasn’t so much comparing the time frame of the tour, just that I sort of see Jordin’s and Archie’s audience to be sort of the same. And since they are both with Jive, I thought they would be following similar paths. I would never expect to see Jordin playing at a bar (although maybe she has…I don’t know), just like I would never have expected it of Archie. It just all seems weird to me and just not what I was expecting at all. I just think he is capable of more. He seemed to do extremely well at the Jingle ball things and seemed to draw big crowds, and he performed great.

  • frogcooke

I think he also likes the more intimate setting of the smaller venues/clubs etc.

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

Snarkyarchies.com has a really cool post where they have put together info on all the venues and nearby hotels (with out having to look to all the sites)…

All the venues seem really cool to me, and in the bar in Texas it said the acts in general are for all ages…Isn ´t the Houses of Blues kind of famous, I ´m sure I have heard abut it before and I don ´t live in US… and the first venue in the list looks really great…

    Man I want to go…:(

  • JudyOhio

There must be more to the story of him playing the Scout Bars in TX, because it IS hard to picture DA performing at a place where they sell Big Ass Beer, lol. I’m thinking maybe they have special nights for non-hard rock shows or something???

  • AZIdolFan

oh sure, this david comes to AZ. the marquee is in tempe by ASU. Alot of bands that are starting out go thru there. i think archie’s people are just playing the smaller venues for his die-hard fans and hopefully some new fans they bring with them. it will be a good starting tour for him, i think.

I’m still upset cook isn’t coming anywhere near me. I mean I saw Daughtry at bar here in Tucson!!!

  • frogcooke

^^^ celeste.. thats an awesome post by snarkies!!!

I though that in all venues in US sell beer :ponder_tb:

  • toma

David Archuleta headlining at a bar that offers Big A$$ beers is all kinds of wrong and right at the same time. David is in for a whole new world of experiences and I can’t wait to read his take on the “divey” world of music. (although from many of the bar/club sites.. the venues look respectable and look to be in the heart of the city’s downtown.)

As far as demographics being hit, i’m sure David’s concert will be an “all ages” admittance and it will be very interesting to see the type of crowd he draws. Don’t forget that he is being promoted for his iCarly show in February and I believe he has a Disney engagement in Feb/Mar… plus another round of radio promotions. He’s kind of covering all kinds of bases right now.

I can’t wait for this mini tour to begin and even more excited that I will be attending his CA concert. Never been to Pomona and I doubt I’ll ever go there again.. unless David sees it fit for me to go there. :rolleyes_wp:

  • frogcooke

    lol Toma XD

  • mac

Yeah….but are they “Big Ass Beers?” :laugh_tb:

David is in for a whole new world of experiences and I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wait to read his take on the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“diveyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ world of music.

I totally agree with this. It will open up a whole new world for Archie, and that is what will help him develop into a great and well-rounded musician and song writer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

    Yeahà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.but are they à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Big Ass Beers?à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Sorry I live outside US, so I don ´t know Big Ass Beer, it is a brand???? google only show me people drinking beer from big glasses :ponder_tb: …

  • LK09

At the Sundance film Festival thing David did, people could drink. They just carded people and gave them a special arm band if they were old enough and wanted to drink. It seemed to work out ok, even with many youngsters there. They usually come with someone older, so it was fine.

  • clee1107

I’m planning to go to Chicago and Reno ones. Chicago looks cool and Reno is relatively closer than other cities. (only 5 hr driving haha) I really wanna see his solo tour. This is another step up for David. Good luck David!!

  • mac

Sorry I live outside US, so I don ´t know Big Ass Beer, it is a brand???? google only show me people drinking beer from big glasses

That’s it cruzceleste. They are the biggest beers that the bar sells and at a very cheap price. Sometimes bars will have domestic big ass beers (large glasses of domestic beer) or imported big ass beers (large glasses of imported beer) which are usually a little more expensive. Either way, they are big ole glasses of beer!!!!

  • frogcooke

Heck there were beers at the AI tours.. so…. lol

  • oceana

We used to call them draft beers. Is that the same thing? :)

  • mac

We used to call them draft beers. Is that the same thing?

    Yup…..just in “big ass” glasses!!!!

  • Jabkmc

Beer = If it’s not Guinness or Killian’s Irish Red…not worth my time. lol

I think the smaller spring tour is a good idea.

  • frogcooke

yeah I like the idea of a small spring tour too.

    btw.. beer is gross…. lol

Well IÂ ´m more a tequila or cocktail girl so even if they sell it I wouldnt be buying…

I think the Jingle Ball he did in Albany was quite divey. This is Touch My Hand there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IZFDGN-RVg&feature=related Very small stage, really dark, really hot, really jammed. By the time he sang Crush, he was really wiping the sweat out of his eyes.

I’m intrigued by the Northampton, MA concert on 3/2. Big colleges town (five there), but not much else. I wonder if the college students will come see him?

  • Tatiana

Suzanne, I’m sure they will…right in the town there is Smith College, a women’s college! Don’t think attendance will be a problem in this venue :kiss_tb:

  • frogcooke

yeah north hampton is right smack in the middle of a college area

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

^^^ Smith is located in Northhampton. I can’t imagine it’s a hotbed of Idol fandom. LOL.

  • noctem seizure

I used to live in southeastern PA, and I went to both the Chameleon in Lancaster and Crocodile Rock in Allentown quite a bit. Unless they’ve changed, then talk about two very un-Archie like venues! Especially, the Chameleon. It usually caters to some pretty edgy, out-of-the-mainstream acts. Honestly, from what I know of it, David Cook would even be out of place there….

  • jpfan

Very odd list. Not exactly the perfect venues for a mostly tween/teen fan base. Did Jive pick the clubs or does the artist set up the tour?

  • Tess

Very odd list. Not exactly the perfect venues for a mostly tween/teen fan base.

And who is to say that tween/teen is Archie’s fan base. Based on the Marquee, here in the Phoenix area, Archie is performing at typical venues for small concerts. (Katy Perry will be there next week).

I think this type of concert tour is excellent for the “newbie”. It teaches him the ropes, provides a venue for his fans, and because the price is reasonable will get him out in front of new fans especially College age kids who are looking for an entertainment bargain.

Unless theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve changed, then talk about two very un-Archie like venues!

I think that Archie and his Peep are smart enough to realize that if he wants to succeed in this business he needs to pay his dues and needs to present himself the way others have before. I don’t really think that playing at “Church Socials” would get his name out there.

  • tinawina

Suzanne, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure they willà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦right in the town there is Smith College, a womenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s college! Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think attendance will be a problem in this venue :kiss_tb:

There are many politically incorrect things I could say here, but if Smith College’s reputation holds, I don’t know if Archie would be a big draw there. Ha.

As long as the venues are smallish he shouldn’t have a problem pulling decent crowds. People watch idol everywhere. It helps if teens can get in too though. I suspect in most of these venues, that is indeed the case.

  • KathyH

Not trying to be argumentative here, but I’m not sure where David COULD play if bars/clubs were out. Most towns don’t have music/party rooms for tweens and teens, he’s not ready to solo in an arena and he can’t do the church socials, either. (As Tess has said.) I think this tour may be intended to help him hone a few skills — and I think he’ll draw both Idol fans and new fans. He’s already won young, college-age fans who aren’t Idol viewers — I’ve met a few on the boards.

I’m certainly a fan, and I’m no tween. My teen daughters (who have zero interest in Idol) want to go see David, but can’t because they would need to travel with me and our nearest venue includes a school-night tour date. They were told we would go together if he does a summer tour, and also invite a couple of their friends. They can go out front and ‘touch his hand’ while mom enjoys from a (hopefully) more comfortable spot. But the choice of venue won’t stop ‘mom’ from attending even this club tour.

David’s tween/teen appeal may help him win that type of fan, but his talent will win (and has won) him fans of all types.

  • JudyOhio

^^^ You’ve made some good points in the first paragraph there Kathy. I thought about him doing the college circuit like DC, but then he still hasn’t even finished high school and has just turned 18 last month. He’s in sort of an inbetween stage. I’m not sure what others here would have chosen for him to do, but I think they’ve done about the only thing they could have done concerning a first tour at this time. An opener for a big name would have been best I think, but I don’t think much was available. Spring/summer should offer better choices. Another thing to consider is that DA is the runner up and based on that, I think he’s doing pretty darn good for himself.

  • Anya

As far as I can tell by my small snobby college sample, peeps everywhere like David. I have friends at Smith, Bryn Mawr, Yale who love David. All of them have very diverse music tastes and are also classically inclined. That’s not to say that we don’t drink beer or visit local dives, lol. This is one time I am glad to live in Jersey cause there are three concerts near me.

  • ozarka

Not only is David headlining his own solo tour, but there are rumors now that there may be others who will open for him at some of the venues. So far, two talents have been mentioned, Lesley Roy and Charice Pempengco. They may help to draw in a more diverse crowd.

I’ll say it then. Northhampton has a huge lesbian community. I suppose it’s possible for Archie to have support in Sapphic circles, but there it is.
