Rumors that had David Archuleta about to sign a deal with Jive records look to be legit.

A short press release has appeared on the website of Jive’s parent company, the Zomba Group:

(New York, NY) – It was announced today that American Idol sensation David Archuleta has signed to 19 Recordings/Jive Records. Archuleta is currently gearing up for the upcoming American Idol tour which kicks off on July 1st in Glendale, AZ. The 17-year old is expected to release his debut album later this year.

“Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true,” states Archuleta. “Being a fan of American Idol since season one and admiring the alumni, I am honored and humbled to be a part of that group. I’m really excited to start working on everything.”

Tom Carrabba, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Jive/Zomba Label Group comments, “David Archuleta has already shown the world that he is a star. He’s a young, talented singer with wide appeal and we’re thrilled to have him join our roster.”

Supposedly Josh Hoge and Ryan Tedder are writing a song for Archie’s album.
They worked on Blake’s album and Tedder will be working with Cook at well.
Archie could really kill with a strong ballad.

Since this is about Archie’s possible future career move, there is a story by National Enquirer about Archie’s possibility being involved in HSM3. I think it is just a rumour since it is from National Enquirer but hey, it can be a possibility.

Quote: “Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be a tough fightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦..but insiders say the tricky deal just might be worked out because Disney, Fox and Cowell recognize the fantastic cross-promotion that could generate Big Buck$$, The National Enquirer reports”

Just to add a bit more, during the press release on HSM 3, the HSM Director Kenny Ortega gave flourishing compliments on Archie too.. Hmmmm….
