This is a rare treat! David Archuleta performed at a big outdoor Christmas show at the Mormon Temple in Santiago, Chile yesterday. David is in South America as a Mormon missionary. He performed 4 songs, in Spanish.

A performance from David while he’s in service to the LDS, until 2014, will be very rare indeed. So, enjoy!

Yay, Fan Dja! You found it! The lone non-Spanish song from last night. This is a duet sung in English & Italian. I’m familiar with the Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli version but I think many have covered it. The young lady he’s singing with here is Rebecca Lopez. She has a beautiful voice!

What a treat to hear David’s beautiful voice in the male part of “The Prayer”.  I found the soprano’s voice too shrill and grating for this song, and certainly not a blend at all with David’s voice.  Doesn’t matter, they won’t be touring together.

This is a happy day in the Archufandom! Thank you to the wonderful Chilean fans that uploaded these videos. The drought is over!!!!! I love this X-Mas present! :)

That duet of The Prayer (in Italian and English?) he is singing with Rebecca Lopez who also has a great voice and they blend them beautifully together.

What a Christmas gift!  Is it possible that David’s voice just keeps getting better and better? He is magnificent in these!

David’s duet of The Prayer is so beautiful. What I like about his voice is how pretty and powerful it sounds without sounding “broadway” like Lea Michele, Darren Criss or Nick Jonas.

If I were managing him, I would market him by presenting him as the anti-Emblem 3 or Justin Bieber. Someone who us young, humble, vocally talented and not the product of marketing. That is how Simon tried to market Emblem 3 in their first appearance on X-Factor – presenting them in contrast to the stereotypical boybander. Problem is, they are just as manufactured (albeit as a different product line – the poor street kids who refuse to conform hahahahahahahahahaha) and just as untalented. The marketing is not working. It would work with David because he is different – materially different – than his contemporaries in the pop world today. 2014 will be interesting.

Cute little story that was posted about meeting David at the Christmas devotional yesterday:

“I was at the Christmas Devotional today, my best friends are in the chorus so i went early at the temple square, We were in the church singing and playing piano, then Seba said “oh Nina you’re a fan of Archuleta, you know all his songs” and I was like “hey … I only know one of his songs on piano”, so I started play the song on piano and guess what … yes, elder Archuleta came, laughed and said “hey … that’s my song.” We were amazed and I obviously got very shy, He talked to us for a while and then we could be in his essay before of the devotional. He’s very friendly and funny. I had seen him in another musical devotional, but this was amazing, I could not be more embarrassed, he hummed a little bit of the song and then told me to keep playing, and He also said that I played the piano well, the truth is that I can not touch in front of people, and with him there I was more nervous even.”

Yes, it is a rare find, MJ.

Not a big fan of David A throughout his Idol run (I thought he was too young and too poppy).  But with his matured voice and musical direction, I can see him becoming the next Josh Grobin.  And that’s a good thing.

Thanks MJ and David.  Looking forward to 2014.

Thanks so much for the David videos from Chile….what a special treat.  It wouldn’t be Christmas without hearing David’s beautiful voice!

more into archie’s pop sound tbh (“Broken” is one sick track, bring on more of that in 2014 dude) but ehe christmas  carols en espanol … muy bien muy bien

I actually like Archie doing  pop, Spanish songs, and the more traditional Christmas music. Just because he does one genre of music does not mean he can’t do the other. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for his career when he returns to it.

Thanks for posting the link.  My wish is that everyone hear this song.  Music written by David A and lyrics co-written by him.  My favorite song in BEGIN.

Thanks MJ for posting these videos.  What a gem of a find!  Any more?  I’m craving for more.  Since discussing the type of music Archie should sing – I like him singing this type.  Incredible!

My computer crashed on Friday, so I have been without internet access since then.  Look what I missed.  My goodness, David has certainly not lost any of his amazing talent.  I am also glad that they are keeping his voice busy with these concerts.  David is happiest while singing, and he makes everyone who listens happy, too.  Thanks, MJ, for posting these wonderful videos.  I would think it would be very hard to sing a duet with someone who is that far away from you.  They did a great job, though.
