David Archuleta – Rainbow (Remix) Music Video

David Archuleta is away on an Mormon mission in Chile, South America, but that doesn’t mean his people can’t release new music from the American Idol season 7 runner up!

Check out the new “Rainbow (Remix)” video from the album Forevermore the Expanded Version, a collection of Filipino OPM covers.

What a wonderful surprise this morning.

not big on the video but diggin the remix … cool vibe.

We are happily seeing almost as much of David as we did when he was still here.  His team is doing an amazing job.  David has some moves.  David can do anything he sets his mind to. This is another “How did he do all of this moment?”  He packed so much in the 2 months before he left.

  • Larc

I honestly don’t care much for that song, but it has to be very hard to sing.  David makes it sound and look totally effortless.  His performance easily overcomes any negatives in the material.

I’m still blown away by how much David A was able to do to leave for his fans.  This wasn’t one of my favorites on his Forevermore album but I really like this remix and his voice.  I also like the all David MV and the grooving :)

Larc, I agree it’s a hard song to see but David as always makes it work nicely.

Hey, they finally posted the video on Youtube!

I prefer this remixed version of the song to the original on the album — it’s more uptempo and stands out in a good way in an album of slower love songs. I’m glad we finally have a bit of a fun video from David because the last 4 (Wait, Forevermore, I’ll Never Go & Everybody Hurts) were all on the more serious side. Obviously the songs called for that but it’s nice to mix things up. Most people know David for more of the “ballad” side, which he can do well, but I like when he can go with more a fun pop or r&b feel. You can tell this is a remake of an older song but I enjoy the soulful vibe a lot.

I will say the coloring on the video is a bit weird at times though lol.

Big thanks to David and team for the continued goodies! According to some pretty reliable rumors, there will be more music coming out this year.

I like it.  The vid is simple, but that is fine.  Nearly a year gone and still churning out content.  I approve.

I love Rainbow and David’s Forevermore CD. I think what David does really well is keep his name out there by always releasing new music or videos for his fans. I think disappearing for long periods of time has hurt many Idols.

It’s really too bad that Forevermore and The Asian Tour Edition of The Other Side of Down have never been released in the US or offered on iTunes. Wonder if David’s old Jive contract is an obstacle. I would think not since these CD’s are released by Sony. Unless there is some territory issue which prevents Sony Asia from making its releases available on US iTunes.

  • hellomusicgirl

Forevermore was released very briefly on iTunes in the US (and worldwide), just for a few days over a weekend, if I remember correctly. A fan randomly found it listed and news spread to other fans through twitter and fansites but it was never officially announced on David’s twitter. Of course we found out why when it was pulled. Apparently it was a snafu on the part of iTunes to release it worldwide. I was able to buy a copy during that window so it was it was a good snafu for me lol.

I’ve never understood the releasing of music in certain regions only, especially now that everything is digital. Mostly it just encourages the average person to illegally download it elsewhere because unless you’re a diehard fan you’re probably not going to the trouble to order internationally.

I agree.  I remember it was charting on itunes worldwide and when they yanked it.

I’ve bought all David international albums from CDWOW.  It’s just like ordering from any other online store.  The latest Forevermore Expanded has all the MV’s in DVD HD format.  Great on the big screen.

Thanks MJ for helping to spread the word! Not a huge fan of the song, but it does has a nice little vibe to it.

How in the world did the guy have time for a tv mini series, recording of an album, bench sponsorship, mini concerts, Childfund, run off to Singapore and still keep his sanity!!! His work ethic is out of this world!

I love this video. It’s so much fun to watch. Glad they finally put up an official version on youtube.

I have never been a fan of putting makeup on David.  I know he has said how much he dislikes wearing makeup.  I think there was a lot of makeup applied while he was in the Philippines.  Having been up close to David, I can say that he does not need makeup.  His skin is flawless, his eyes are so striking, and his lips have a natural pink color.

Just saw that David had 6 songs in the top 20 of 2012 on Chart Central.  Kris had 2, Carrie had 2, and Scotty had 1, but they were not in the top 20 but in the top 40.  The Philippines loves their Idols.

  • Larc

And looking fresh as a daisy through it all.  I would say it’s youth, but I’ve been there and didn’t have that kind of enthusiastic energy.  The only way I can explain it is David really loves his fans and what he can do for them.

  • GRjourney1

That is another thing that I have always really liked about David.  He always looks so clean and fresh.  Some of the Idols look grungy most of the time, which is a look some people like, but I like the clean cut look.  Even in jeans and a Tshirt, David looks like he has respect for himself and his fans.  His hair, even though he changes it often, always looks clean and shiny.  Of course, he has been blessed with great hair, too.  I am not saying that the people who look a little grungy are not clean, but they sometimes look a little disheveled and sloppy.  Not a fan of that look.

David Archuleta Shows Us The ‘Rainbow’ In New Video
    By Jake Updegraff

David Archuleta has officially brought a rainbow to our day – literally! As the new season of “American Idol” approaches, what better way to celebrate than watching the former Idol runner up, David Archie’s new music video for “Rainbow (Remix)“. The Utah native released the new music video in support of his album Forevermore the Expanded Version.David entered the music scene with his first single, “Crush“, which turned out to be a smash single entering the Billboard Hot 100 at #2 and selling over 2 million copies. He’s currently overseas right now dedicating his time to a Missionary, but will hopefully focus on new music once it’s over! Let us know what you think of his new music video by posting below!

I really like this video. Great remix of the song . I miss David.

Love him. What a wonderful surprise!  Nice to see that smile again!

It’s nice to keep getting these little gems from David while he is away.  He’s one of my favorites from Idol.  By the way, when is he due back (?)…I forgot.

  • hellomusicgirl

He should be back around the end of March 2014, give or take a few weeks. I’ve been told that apparently most missions don’t last exactly 2 years — they vary by up to a month or so depending on scheduling of new missionaries arriving, travel plans and some other things. I’m hoping David’s varies on the side of a month early ;)

  • Niall

LOL David didn’t do all of this for the fans. He and his team worked his butt off putting things in the can before his mission so there would be a stream of income for him (and those who work for or financially depend on him) during the 2 years he’s away. He also needs people to remember his name when he returns. Fans are happy but this was a smart business decision not altruism.

Of course he did not do it ALL for his fans.  I doubt any artist would.

I also think David does take some financial risk for his fans.  I’m thinking of the Christmas tour that he did in 2011.  That was when he did not have label support and no music to promote.  If he wanted to minimize risk, he could have just done one off concerts, toured Asia (where he could command larger audiences) or opened/co-headlined with another singer.  Also, rather than choosing venues for the Christmas tour that ranged in size from less than 1000 to almost 3000, David could have done the bar tour circuit (300-500 seating), which carried a smaller risk of unfilled seats. I think that the Christmas tour is an example of him taking a risk to give fans the tour that they had all been asking for.

I agree that David is smart for having projects in the can for his management to release while he’s away.  It does keep his name out there, which is something which is vital if he wants to resume a career when he returns. Funny thing is that there are former Idols not on a 2 year mission who are less active than David.  Question to ask them is why they are not releasing cds in the U.S. and Asia, releasing music videos, endorsing products and acting in television mini-series.  Not as glamorous as a Kelly Clarkson career but it definitely pays the bills.

The remix makes such a difference! David’s so adorable and the remix really makes the song nice. I think David is an incredible singer, but the arrangements of the background vocals on the Forevermore Cd sounds like The Carpenters. The updated remix really makes this song so much mire listenable. Great to see David. He looks great growing up and all.

I bet it disappeared from iTunes because the PH MP3 store opm dot mymusicstore dot com dot ph  sells the Forevermore MP3’s to anyone for less than iTunes.  I got my MP3’s there – they take Paypal.  And I got my albums (Forevermores and TOSOD ATE) at WOWHD (free shipping).

  • violet4ever

BTW CDWOW changed their name to WOWHD and still have DA’s foreign albums.  They are really good about listed anything new of David’s – just have to point it out to them.  Their shipping can be slow but I do like free.

David worked his butt off putting things in the can before his mission so…

    a) His fans can have all these goodies while he’s away
    b) To provide a stream of income for him (and others?) while he’s away
    c) For people to remember his name while he’s away

It could very well be all of the above. I am enjoying everything David left us and I appreciate him for doing all that he did for whatever reason(s) he did it.

I can’t imagine any artist working her/his butt off solely for the benefit/pleasure of their fans, that’s just silly.

The Rainbow song was stuck in my head this morning as I was getting ready for work. I tried singing it out loud but, alas, I couldn’t to get the melody right. I guess you can say I’m no David Archuleta. #wonkwonkwonk. ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/djafans Fan Dja

Niall, lol of course not only for his fans but we are part of the motivation to keep his name out there and generate revenue while he’s away.  And yes, David A is becoming quite the business man.

    YAY #1! that was fast.

After many listens to Rainbow regular and Rainbow remix,  I prefer the more mellow groove of Rainbow regular.  I do get a kick out of David grooving in the Rainbow remix video, though. :)
